- Welcome to our channel's first video in a series of collaboration videos with the Hits and Crits channel, focused on discussing the Season 03 changes to A Song of Ice & Fire, the tabletop miniatures game. This video series will go faction-by-faction until all have been covered. This series' videos, in full collaboration with Hits and Crits, will rotate between our two channels. In this first video, Chris and I will cover all of the most important changes to House Lannister! This series seeks to outline and discuss the most important changes to each faction from the Season 03 update. We won't go line-by-line through the Change Log. Instead, we will focus only on the highlights and talk about any new and interesting synergies and list-building opportunities that come to mind. Big thanks to Chris for his collaboration in this series and to all the rest of his crew at Hits and Crits for the uncharacteristically high production values for a video on my channel! Enjoy!

This was pretty useful to me since I was thinking of getting into the game and using the Stark vs. Lannister set as a jumping off point. Noone plays this game near me, though so it'll just be me and my son and we won't have to worry about meta.
I’m glad you found this useful! The Stark vs. Lannister box is a fantastic value. Be advised though that all the cards in that set are outdated now, so you’ll want to either refer to the War Council app for the updated cards, or buy the 2021 card update packs for each faction, and then go to the CMON ASOIAF site and download updated unit/tactics cards that were changed post-2021 update.

@@imperialminis857 The main thing for this combo is that the mountains men can stay in a combat for longer with the double chance to heal themself. An other good option is to just put sandor in them for fueled by.

It’s gotten to where I can’t find a game at my local club that’s not against NW or Lannister.
Think that’s just due to people’s personal faction preferences, or because folks in your local scene are chasing the meta?
@@imperialminis857 it’s a little bit of both. Lots of folks just play NW even though they don’t love them. There are two Lannister players in my group that have played them since the Kickstarter, so I’m really happy for them that the Lannisters are in such a good place right now.
@UltimateHansford The folks who play factions they don’t enjoy must just enjoy winning regardless of any other factor. That’s a pretty shallow experience to me. But that’s awesome that your die-hard Lannister players are enjoying the update! I’ve never been a big fan of the faction myself, but there are some very appealing lists in the faction right now. Not necessarily the most competitive, mind you, but I’ve always been more about having fun than racking up wins.
I play Targs myself and none of the others have really captured my interest. Targ players like to say they suck, which their deck is awful. But I just don’t feel like I can play the way I want without the Targ mobility. Mobility is probably a little undervalued in this current meta.
@UltimateHansford proper use of mobility is the great equalizer in this game. If you can position and move better than your opponent, you can overcome a lot of your faction’s other weaknesses. I love Targs for that reason too. Even just the threat of their movement can dictate the movement of enemy units on the field. Targs have great threat projection.
Mountain Men: same or more ranks makes them a secret counter to Cavalry, that always has only 2 ranks max. They work very well against them, once I managed to get a full Tully cavalry off the board, ok it was bad positioning and I managed to attack them in the rear but 2 auto wounds from Clegane then 5 rolls of 6 and one more hit that is 11 hits defended on a -2 modifier and then comes a panic test on a -4 possibly aided by a Hear me Roar with a missing rank already ... it wiped the strongest cavalry off the map in one go.
Wow that’s brutal! Tully Cav are real beasts to bring down.
Counterplot is easily activated with Joffrey already on money bags this is a very good move for the Lannister player as it immediately activates multiple Lannister abilities or makes them stronger, forcing your opponent to shut down Joffrey with a high priority. Otherwise half of the turns I will have Joffrey on the money ...
Looking forward to season 4 review ... maybe after the mid year changes?

Nice series ! If had to do a tier list where would you put Lannister’s ?
If we’re going by Lannisters’ current rankings on Stats, as of the time of this post, they’re at the bottom of the ranking list just above Boltons. But I don’t think this gives an accurate picture. I’d rate Lannisters in the B tier right now. They have a good deck and some solid lists, but I think they’re getting beat up in the current meta by some of the outlier juggernaut lists. I always find good Lannister players difficult to beat.
@@imperialminis857 cheers I think I’m gonna go with Boltons and either Starks or Martells. The lanister tactics deck seems good and I hate counterplot lol .. my main opponent will be Lannister’s
@amc6354 Boltons are a lot of fun but struggle with most matchups right now. Starks are a lot of fun too though! Martells have a ton of tricks, like Lannisters, and can be really frustrating to play against.
@@imperialminis857 I just love look of Boltons but I’m sadly accepting struggle lol . Going to watch lots of battle reports but mainly leaning stark coz well wolf motif :) thx
