Quick correction. The UK variant of the Vantage also has the hood release in the passenger footwell. So the hood release isn’t there in the US version because it’s designed for a right hand drive market. They’ve actively chosen to locate the hood release in the passenger footwell no matter which market they’re selling to.

That way of opening your car door with the opposite hand, to improve awareness of traffic approaching from the rear, is sometimes called a "Dutch reach". It's taught as part of driver training in the Netherlands, where cycling is very popular. I think it's a really good idea.

8:44 Thats actually a quite genious design. I've been taught at the driving school to open the door with the opposite hand, while the hand nearest to the door holds the handle so that when you open it you have enough control of it and it wont just open by itself if other drivers are coming from behind. If this would be the standard in all cars, people would be more educated on how to open a car door safely.

Every time I watch one of Doug´s videos I am reminded of Tarantino when he talks movies. They have similar voices and both froth with the same unbounded enthusiasm. They even look similar. And they both use the word ´cool´ a lot.

Because that part isn't usually staged. When he's talking about the car, he can retake his footage but when he's behind the wheel he has to focus on the road plus talk about the car.

When he's talking about the quirks and features of the car, he has a script (some of the outtakes at the end of some of his videos show him pulling out his phone because he forgot his line). When you're reading aloud from a book or paper, your voice probably is different from when you're having a conversation with someone. Conversations aren't scripted (unless obviously they're in a show, movie, etc.).

As a former 9-1-1 dispatcher the coordinates are very helpful if you are on a rural highway or roadway where there is no cross street and the occupant doesn’t know the mile post for the area. It allows police and fire to locate you more accurately.

A note about the bonnet release being on the passenger side footwell, this is also the case for right hand drive cars. I'm from Australia and having sat in the Vantage, I can say they move the bonnet release to the left hand side footwell.

The one thing I have always loved about the Vantage is the "MUSIC" out of the tail pips. It Let's you KNOW, It is THERE! IN the world of more shrill exhaust notes out of V8's I applaud them for keeping an engine that sounds... well just ANGRY ;)

The only weak design aspect is the front grill refinement.
The rest of the "package" is certainly livable. I wouldn't need a "maxed" out functionality to be a main attribute.

By the way, you can now choose between two designs, the sporty or classic grill.

Looks to me like you get a pretty good bang for the buck. Guess it's to early to tell when it comes to reliability. As far as the front end goes, it's the ubiquitous whale shark mouth as used in dozens of models from many builders over the last 10 years or so. This car is drop dead stunning IMO. Embodies the saying "looks like it's moving just sitting there". Well done AM. Love what you've done.

Co-ordinates on a sat-nav are really handy when in an off the road location. It might be very difficult to explain, but the Co-Od's get you there for sure. It's come in handy a number of times for me ;)

Gotta he honest, I would pick the AMG GTR over this. I think you really gotta he an Aston guy to pick this model over its competitors. For someone like me that also cares about the tech in a car I would not like that interior. And the depreciation of Aston’s is higher than its competitors so I don’t know it’s just a hard sell. I have a thing for X-braces. The Viper ACR, as well. I want to lower my engine and raise the strut towers, for Fox struts. And improve on the factory excuse of a crossover bar. For a single control arm design. The current ineffectiveness disturbs me...maybe.

The door handles are designed in line with the Dutch Reach principle: opening with the oposite hand forcing an over the shoulder check for bikes.
The bonnet release is in the passenger footwell in the UK too. on the old cars. Maybe it's there so you're opening up the bonnet from the side of the road rather than in the road itself?!
