  • In this video we try out Cerakote Trim wipe to see.
How easy is it to apply?
How much difference does it make to the very faded bumpers of my 2014 Fiat Ducato?
Does it represent value for money?

Hello John, I would prefer to spray the plastics, albeit more expensive, but longer lasting and will look outstanding, just saying that would be my preference.

I have done a video on spraying the bumpers of a VW T4 with a textured black bumper paint. I was pretty impressed. I chose not to go down this route with the Ducato because the amount of cladding involved was so high and i didnt fancy the masking or the removal (without breaking clips) and was a little concerned about stone chips on the front.
. Also Unless using textured paint I was concerned at losing the grained finish or more likely ending up with grain in some places and not in others. The Textured paint I used was very good but did rely on a degree of skill to get a consistant texture. Plus it was pretty expensive. But I have to agree that a well done painted finish will undoubtedly look the best at least initially

John, I think you would find it difficult to beat polytrol to restore plastic colours. It’s an oil based plastic restorer which can be wiped on with a cloth and seems to work well and lasts for a while…when it eventually fades again another coat can be quickly applied again.

Also works on a variety of plastic colours and types. (I have used it on car trim, drain pipes and a green oil tank).

I would anticipate that the cloths that you used in your video are actually impregnated with a similar substance…I would recommend using an old cloth to apply, and possibly wearing a nitrile glove (to save your hands) - it does air dry like the cloth in the video though so perhaps remain aware that whatever you use brush or cloth will go “crispy” unless you clean it off first.
