- It's the Christmas season, and the Henry family is excited to celebrate together. However, Mom has a specific vision for how she wants the Christmas tree to look, and she's determined to make it happen. As the rest of the family tries to pitch in and help with the decorating, Yvette constantly insists on the family doing it the right way, causing frustration among some of the kids. Will they be able to come to a compromise and enjoy the holiday together, or will Moms need for control ruin their Christmas spirit?

Oh, Yvette you are a phenomenal mother: truth is LOTS of parents wait until the kids are asleep and then change the ornaments to the way they want them!!

@@kelleymclean2432 girl, same! lol! i was losing it this christmas and had to take a mental break eventually because the star was broken by the time we got done because it miraculously kept finding itself on the ground over and over again after I kept putting it on top of the box of ornaments. 😤
Aww Uriah is such an affectionate kid! He was the first one to join in on mom and dad hugging, and he was also grabbing his mom's hand when she was giving her pre-control instructions 😂🥰
I don’t think you guys understand the value you hold on the CZcams platform. There’s a lot of people without families and for some reason I get my dose of family through you guys and I don’t feel lonely! Merry Christmas.

I wish for you to build a family of your own, be it with a partner and kids, or friends, other family members, and pets. Some families look different, but you can still have one.
As a former therapist and perfectionist 😂, here are 2 suggestions for how to handle Christmas decorating. 1) Give the kids their own mini trees to decorate for their rooms or other parts of the house and parents decorate the main tree or 2) everyone decorate the main tree and then parents “edit”/fix it when kids are asleep. Less stressful and less micromanaging of the kids. 💛
Riah is a villain 😂😂😂 the way he cracked up with Aniyah was exposed had me cracking up. I just love this family and how they exhibit true, genuine love of family and black love. Yvette I absolutely can relate to you. You are not alone. The control freak in me and the mom I aim to be duke it out daily.
My heart is warm. Theo's maturity, Uriah's laugh, Anaya's approach to everything, Uzi's comments and fumbles with the ornaments, Mom's internal struggle (I relate 100%) and love for her family and Dad's support and also love for his family. I wish you all a Merry Christmas. Thank you for being a bright light in this world and spreading joy!

uriah - is the goofball star of the show. always bringing laughter and entertainment to the fam
anaya - the sweet innocent one. with a sweet smile and always doing the right thing even if it means snitching on her brothers
uziah - the menace, wreaking havoc and blaming it on the others but playing it off with the cuteness card
theo - the quite unassuming observer. people might think he is the shy one but he is secretly the puppet master. he sits back and observes while little do y’all know he is controlling the whole show.
Mom is doing great! She has identified her area of dysfunction and is working on it! Grace to her!
I love the interviews of the Christmas lists. Theo has been thinking about his list for some time 🤣🤣 Glen asking for socks and a nose trimmer had my dying #dadgifts

Ughh..Anaya loves her mum so much. Her crying was just because she felt she had disappointed her mum by drawing on that and then lying about it. I totally understand her reaction. Made me want to tear up too. We’re all proud of you girl, keep glowing❤

I wonder what would happen if Yvette allowed herself to just live in the moment and let down her expectation of things being perfect. I don't believe it's a control issue more than it is a need to be perfect which results in controlling things. It's seems like she's set this expectation for herself as a child growing up wanting to do everything right. I believe it's safe to say that we are most perfect when we allow our imperfections to surface so others can gain the benefit of receiving our unique selves and have the ability to relate to our imperfections. We are all beautiful as God created us. Let your guard down and live beautiful mommy of 4!
The theology of artificial Christmas trees according to Professor of Reason Dr Uriah Beau Henry- “it’s not an actual tree, so it doesn’t have a branch, AND that thing doesn’t even have WOOD….!” 😅😂I feel stressed for Yvette! It's hard to give up control, that's why I don't even do Christmas lights...prelit trees are underrated lol. Anyway, appreciate your rawness and opening up.. we've all been there. Love how gentle she is with the kids. She’s such a good mom.
I love that Yvette is recognizing it now because it will make a large difference in the kids lives later on. I’m currently 18 and still have an extremely controlling mother and it tends to make me avoid her at all costs with a lot of things.

I’m just remembering that last Christmas was when you guys got Lilly (I think). Wow how time flies 🤗💙
Side note: Maybe mom can have her own small tree in the bedroom or in the entryway that she can decorate all on her own and then the family does the large one together. It seems like Yvette doesn't really get many opportunities to express her creativity without boundaries or being constrained by the kids and their homeschool needs.

I gave my baby a brownie before our Christmas pictures. Yes she got chocolate on my nice sweater…. But she was super happy in the pictures and that’s was what made the whole shoot. 💕

I laughed so much watching this video that I started crying from all the laughing 😂 Yvette you are a great mom and I saw that many times throughout the video from allowing everyone to decorate the tree the way they wanted, to giving Anaya a hug when she admitted to drawing on the Christmas countdown thing. This family really is the best ❤

I knew it was Anaya the moment she didn’t come over there to investigate! She’s a mini-mama and when moments like these present themselves, she never misses out!
The best thing Yvette can do is to let the children decorate the tree however they want to, then she can go back and do it according to her standards after the kids go to bed. Otherwise they shall resent every fun activity if it's going to be turned into a perfection exercise.

Great for Yvette trying to overcome control issues. 👌🏾It's hard for people to learn if there's perpetual instruction and criticism.
Naya gets over because she gives the puppy dog eyes and starts crying; and because she's the only girl. Had that been one of the older boys, they would not be getting hugs from Mom. I do love that mom was upfront and honest about her control issues. Focus on the moment and don't get trapped thinking about controlling it.

I understand Mom, because when my kids was young it drove me crazy to see our tree look like abstract art. So until they become older to máster the tree decor. They trained on there own tree. So we had two ( the house tree and the kids tree.) Sanity was restored.

What a beautiful family. You all give Yvette some slack, she is a great mom and this is only once a year. As mom she contributes so so much. Yvette you are a great mom!!! Control is not a bad thing, it provides order and structure. Letting go of control for certain things is so so hard, so kudos to you for trying. Suggestion: maybe get a smaller tree for the kids to decorate and express their creative vision, then you can decorate the larger tree in your vision and let the kids add on some of their favorite ornaments after you have decorated it. You all can finish the bigger tree together.
Also, I can see Uriah doing fencing. He likes swords and it’s a thinking sport (not too much using his hands 😊).

Yvette asks like my mom. Her children will rise and call herb blessed. They b will grow to find v out they are one step ahead of the game on many things because of mom. It's not as much control as it is excellence. If tempered with grace and mercy and leaving Erin for making mistakes, these kids will be dynamic. She has a directors personality and is a natural leader. Just don't miss the moment. My mom fussed every holiday season and it was the most wonderful to time of the year.
I don't celebrate the holidays anymore.
But it's great to see how your babies have grown.
