I'm kinda rooting for Theo to have hockey to himself. He's such a selfless big brother and shares with his siblings, I'm wishing for him to have something that he can hold just for himself. And the way he let Lilly invade his space in the van made me smile. That's quite far from his days of running from her and holding the leash! 😂🤣😂🤣

Uriah's biggest issue with things seems to be confidence. He fears being embarrassed by a lack of ability to do things so he wants to do things that require less of him. He just needs some one on one assistance(not in the presence of his siblings) and lots of encouragement

@@dannygranger9271 That's an extremely weird way to put it. For my case, me and my older brother both liked football but he was 10x better than me. I would play with him for fun of course but never wanted him to watch me train or play in games cos of embarrassment, due to the fact I looked up to him. I ended picking up swimming and golf, and my brother was like my biggest fan when I was in tournaments, was on my ass when I didn't want to train on weekends and was just genuinely supportive. I'm pretty sure when Uriah finds a sport he likes, Theo will be supportive of his younger brother.. Uriah just needs some time to get out of his shell.

@@dannygranger9271 But him growing alone is not a healthy reality. If not his brother than who. First dad need to jump into the games and show that he can beat Theo. He will make them neutral and take over the alpha male role in the games. The Theeeennn cheer them both on during games and giving Uriah a little more instruction and help build that drive. Also, get other children involved and put the brothers on THE SAME TEAM so he know his brother strength and savvy is a benefit to him too when he needs him.

I rarely comment on videos, but someone made a comment about Uriah and birth order and I had to come in and co-sign. Mainly because as an adult I'm realizing how much we live with currently that came from things misunderstood during childhood. Theo is the oldest, Anaya is the only girl and Uzo is the baby. I can see how Uriah may struggle with defining his own identity (which can impact confidence and a desire to try and or quit) when the identities of his siblings are so obvious and (probably unintentionally) reinforced by others. Blessing to this beautiful family. Uriah is so blessed to have two strong and committed parents that will help him figure this journey out.

The worst part being a second sibling is being compared and thinking others comparing you to your older sibling. I've never stuck with any sports or musical instrument growing up, but that didn't make me less successful as an adult. I can see myself in Uriah, I love to try new things out like a buffet, but hate doing things for longer period of time. As an adult, I got a job travelling all over Scandinavia visiting laboratories fixing instruments which is perfect for me and loving it.

I feel like Uriah is the most affected by birth order, which is no one’s fault, this is just my observation about larger families. Theo’s identity is very much in tact as the first born. Cultivating Uriah’s identity as the second of four seems challenging because I can feel the undercurrent of frustration that he feels he does have to work a little harder for attention which then presents like he wants to do huge things but struggles with finding the discipline and confidence because amongst 4 kids, everyone kind of takes an activity and excelled at it. It would be frustrating to me as a kid, too…I’d be uncertain about the point of some things if that makes sense. He comes off stubborn, when really I think he just wants certainty that if he puts the work into something it’s going to reap the feeling he wants, which is to feel uniquely special in a big group. It makes it hard to keep trying when you carry that insecurity and even harder to stick with one thing when you don’t get that feeling right away. This family is incredibly loving and Uriah is thriving either way. I just notice second borns carry some deeper stuff that comes out in ways that are misunderstood.

I agree with this and want to add, he needs to cultivate discipline. He may not be a very decisive person, so a bit of effort needs to be put to ensure he makes a decision and sticks to it at least for a valid trial period before he gets a chance to change his mind. If his own discipline lacks the patience to withstand the pressure, maybe his parents ought to enforce the discipline on his behalf until his matures.

    • @crazyzada
      @crazyzada Před rokem +6

Agree totally. He has to find the thing that really puts a spark in him. And when he grows that self discipline and sticks to his sport or activity, he'll see the reward internally and externally. He's growing up so much😊

This is like flashback & reminds me of being a kid. Uriah trying a million different things but not gravitating to it. Also seeing other kids get it faster than me & messing up on team mates just made me run for the hills. Lane swimming & scouts both kinda with a team but not super competitive, became my things. When I was older, having similar feelings in certain scenarios, through therapy I kinda realised even then it was a form of anxiousness. ❤
My own kids one is great at every sport he tries. The other struggles & seeing his brother take to things so easy drives him crazy. So he’s in scouts & junior bjj so far so good. BJJ is something I wish I new about as girl, it is a fantastic sport. ❤️

Uriah, reminds myself of me around his age. A kinesthetic learner but also sensitive to embarrassment, or being uncomfortable whilst participating- the helmet. In hindsight, I needed a physical way to self regulate during activities and any that restricted or made regulation harder heightened my embarrassment and confusion for which activity to stick with long term. Thing is, I didn't want to be anything long term. The process of slowing down with each activity I tried and having One on One conversations helped me better understand myself. There are so many ways in which comparison is seen by children and though adults know alot more, children sometimes know themselves better- they need a little help with the vocabulary.

I think maybe what Uriah is trying to say is that he feels his coordination and strength is better in his lower body. His build would seem to corroborate that. I can easily see him doing BMX racing and excelling at it. His center of gravity would be a real asset in that sport. Same thing with soccer.

Oh my, not, THE MICROWAVE Glen! I’m chuckling HARD! 😆
I was happy to see, THEO, score and truly believe him studying the others earlier helped. Once he gets his own gear, and, became acclimated with it we’ll see even more goals!!! Good job!

Let’s go Theo! I felt the same way when I saw the Mighty Ducks back when it first came out. I got almost all the gear. Dad is right on how expensive Hockey is. You have to really love the sport to be able to put that equipment on every time. I still love hockey, but I was still to expensive for me.

I don’t live in your household, so I won’t pretend to know your children better than you. With so much creativity in your genetics, I wouldn’t be surprised if Uriah turns out to be more artistic: music, dance, theatre, art, etc. Just my personal thoughts, obviously. 😊

Hockey is definitely expensive but if theo does want to continue, ask some other parents if they have equipment from older siblings. My dad LOVED giving away old gear to new players.

Let Uriah try everything, he’d be good at anything in the right environment! If he came across a fun team with people that make him feel comfortable and have a laugh to enjoy his time more + he’d stop worrying about all the other stuff. Theo has that natural eldest child confidence and competitiveness . If Uriah is open to things let him explore! He’s an amazing kid, he just has a different approach.

I know you get lots of suggestions and I'm sure youve heard it all, but maybe drama and acting would click with Uriah? There are so many ways to be creative and it includes music, dancing and acting.
And for kids it can also be great exercise and has a team component when you have to put together your own little programmes and skits.
I think it's surprising the variety of kids who grow to really love theatre and acting.

Uriah may not be a sports kid. My son was the same way,my husband loves sports, tried him in everything, he hated it all. He loved computers, drawing, pottery. Now he is in college for programming. Sports is so strongly pushed in our society at a young age as parents we need to think outside the box and also let our kids know there are other alternatives to sports that are just as rewarding.
