    So... Learned something new this morning, I didn't know Detroit used an injector tube. Also pretty slick how you removed it. Nice!

      Thanks, thought some guys would like to see this. Great system and very simple to replace. Heads are in the machine shop as we speak getting the valve seats dressed. Thanks for stopping by.:)

    Thank you very much for the removal tip! Now I need some of the other tools. Looks like you used a couple cutters and the installer and flaring tool.

    Wow, that's quite the process. I hope I'll be able to find some of those tools when it comes time for me to do my 671.

      I've been looking for a tool set like this for a long time. I found it by chance when I went to pick up a dyno for the Detroits. The gentlemen heard my 4-53T and said he had some Kent-Moore tools if I was interested.:) Over a few weeks he was able to find them and that's how I got this set. It was missing a few tools, so I made them and now the kit is complete. Thanks for watching.:)

    Great job!!!! Love your video...not easy filming everything in such detail by yourself...try using 2 cameras and cutting between the 2 cameras in your editing of your video....It takes time to do these videos...so your a great mechanic and becoming a great "videotogragher" if that's a word.....we sometimes use 3 cameras but it takes a lot of time in the editing room....but I'm having fun with it!!!!!

      Thanks, I'll have to try two cameras.:) I recently bought the GoPro ten and love it, but still haven't bought a second battery for it.:) So I often turn it off to conserve the battery, but in the future I want to run both the GoPro 7 and 10.:) Thanks for watching.:)

      The second tube went a lot faster than the first.:) By the time I finish the second head I should have it down to a few minutes.:) Thanks for watching.:)

    Smack the old tube out… check. Use wire brush to clean out the sealing surface … check. Tube in the hole and smack it into place… check. Flaring tool… check. Reaming… can’t say I’ve ever seen it done with a speed brace before, that’s a new one for me 😀

    Awesome job! How did you turn the old injector into the tool to set the height? I mean, What's the lenght of the tip you machined? thanks!

    • @detroitgarage9430
      @detroitgarage9430  Před rokem +1

      Thanks, I used an old injector, cut the tip off, then welded it and turned it in my lathe. I can't remember what length I used, but made it to the KentMoore tool specs. I'll check tomorrow and see.:) Thanks for watching.

      The tip measures .389" from the injector housing.:)

    what are some signs the o ring or the tube failed?

    • @detroitgarage9430
      @detroitgarage9430  Před 2 lety

      You'll have coolant seeping into the head from the tubes. If you have coolant in the oil, it's one of the places to look.:) Thanks for watching.:)
