Gear another cool function on the Tundra, if your door locks ever do fail, insert the key into the driver door and turn the key towards the rear of the truck and hold it, all the windows will roll down. I had an actuator go out while in the locked position at work and it was the only way I could gain entry into my Tundra.

I have a ‘14 Limited Crewmax. When the doors are locked, inserting the key in the drivers door lock and turning to the right lowers the front windows and opens the moonroof. Turning to the left closes the front windows and moonroof. I’ve had the truck for over 8 years at this point but never knew it.

So thank you for this. I was having the exact issue in a 2007 Crewmax and have been chasing it for a while. Random alarms going off finally noticed the dbl locking. Ends up it was similar. I had replaced the speakers in the rear driver door. Apparently when I did I didn’t click the cable for the lock in all the way. It came loose. Because of this video I manually cycled all the door lock and found that one was springy. Took off the door panel clipped the cable into the bracket and that fixed it. Thanks again this is the reason I found it and I hope both our experiences help others.

Good info. I’m having this problem right now with my 2017 Limited Crewmax. Long history but initially this happened with the front passenger lock not responding to unlock or unlock command from the key fob or the automatic lock command when you select drive. Brought it to dealer and they ordered a new door actuator. However before the court showed up it started working on it’s own again. Fast forward to the last couple weeks. Now I have the problem on the driver side door lock. Weirdest thing is it’s intermittent. Sometimes the system works perfectly and other times it will not work and only the driver side lock will not respond to key fob or drive command. It’s driving me nuts. It’s not the key fob because it happens with both. Those intermittent problems are the worst. Thanks for this video gear runner. I’ll get this figured out eventually.

The vehicle is trying to tell you that something isn't right, but it isn't always clear what isn't right. This is very good info.
I had a mystery beep when I opened the driver's door after shutting off the engine. I couldn't figure out what the reason for the beep was. It wasn't there previously and obviously something had changed.
Like you, I Googled it and discovered that it was the sunroof not completely closed. We're talking millimetres (minute fractions of an inch) and I had the sunroof tilted up several days previously. I thought I had brought the sunroof back down and it certainly looked like it was closed. It was open just enough to trigger a warning sensor, it was just not clear what the sensor was trying to tell me.
I just bought a 2019 Tundra CrewMax and I will be watching for this.
Right now I am getting used to using a key to start the ignition after years of push-button start. It is no big deal, but a lifestyle adjustment.
I love the Tundra and I am planning to pull an RV, so this is the ideal tow vehicle.
Thanks for sharing your experience, I will watch for this one.

I don't live where I worry too much about my doors being locked or not locked.
If I had to worry about it I guess I would follow the rule: DON'T keep valuables in my vehicle. Secondly I would rather have a crook get in unabated vs. smashing my window.
The only lock concern I have is not having the door locked while driving for safety reasons.

I’m almost wondering if this has something to do with installing aftermarket led’s. Seems to be an issue that happens with people that have replaced their interior lights with leds or have added/replaced exterior led lights possibly causing a short somewhere? Mine has done this intermittently; it happened almost a year ago and I was thinking it was because it was cold (happened during the winter). Almost a year later, it’s happened again but definitely isn’t as cold as it was last time it happened 🤔

My father-in-law had the lock actuator go bad on the drivers door on his 09 Prius so it never beeped when you hit lock or unlock on the key but the lock would work like it’s supposed to if you pushed the unlock button on the passenger door.

On my 2003 Toyota Tundra you hit the unlock button on the remote if you don't get to the door quick enough it relocks. For example husband unlocked it in the house walked out to the driveway by the time you got to the truck the door locked. Same with me unlocked it walking to the truck and got to the truck, door relocked.

I have a 2007 Sequoia and my key fob works like it’s supposed to. Over the past 2 weeks something strange has been happening. It’ll lock with the beep, even making sure by pulling the handles to check it. 3 different times now my daughter and I walk up to get in, she pulls on her handle and opens her door...before I’ve even got my keys out. The second time was when I found the driver door not pushed shut and my rx sunglasses on my armrest instead of in the overhead holder. I checked the security footage and sure enough, some punk rummaged through all my stuff! What was shocking was to see him walk right up and open the door after I know for a fact I’d locked it twice before bed (I didn’t hear it beep the first time but my daughter said she heard it.)
We checked with the prior owner (fiancé’s boss) and he said it was strange that it would do that occasionally but didn’t know why.
Any input, suggestions, or answers for this situation?

A curious issue I just ran into today that I wonder if this is related. I know about the door actuator issue when they wear out, I have a replacement for the pass. side, just haven't put it in yet. So over the weekend the pass. side door lock mysterious STARTED working consistently even though it's been mostly dead since I bought this truck a few months ago.
Today I stopped to get coffee with the daughter who exits out of the rear driver-side passenger door. Locked the truck, got the beep, all good (I check the door handles religiously too like a dog doing the 360 check before laying down now). I come out, door unlocks, I jump in the truck and its DEAD. No odometer, no lights, NOTHING.
Uhh... Okay. Brand new Ultima red top, it's not the battery. Terminals are tight.
Hit the door lock on the fob out of habit, truck unlocks again. ???
Jump in and the truck fires right up like usual.
I wonder if it's related to the door lock issue and maybe anti-theft is kicking on??

@@gearrunner Got kinda lucky on this one. After a rather exhaustive T&E chasing possible problems, it turned out to be a faulty light kit the previous owner installed in an aftermarket bumper. Pulled a fuse from a really crummy wiring job, fiddled with their also crummy negative lead tie-in, and bam! Back to ol' reliable Tundra. Phew! I hate chasing wiring issues, but at least I didn't have to rip out all the looms to get at the problem.
