- The dust had barely settled in from the launch of the Royal Enfield 650 Twins when Classic Legends dropped a bombshell by announcing the return of the Jawa brand.
Looking as stylish as ever, three absolute shimmering beauties were paraded onto the stage in the form of the Classic Jawa, the Jawa 42 and the Perak. Watch this video to find out my initial impressions about these bikes and how I think they will fare against the more established Royal Enfield line of bikes.

what is the secret behind bullet sucuss? As far as I concern, 1) Upright position, 2) the leg saddle position 3) retro style. No other bike above 200 cc have all this. Now Jawa is there, it have a modern engine which is the biggest advantage. I think people going to prefer jawa, due to its better engine.
But old jawa is legend by it self
It is replaced by a four stroke engine but it was originally at two stroke engine that punch though 😍😍😍
re business mainly dependz on 350cc classic...Sales chart of 500 classic +500 thunderbird +bullet 500 + thunder500x is still way less 350cc classic because we indian always prefer mileage over performance otherwise classic 500 is 100times better thn classic350 but mileage is a factor..So a big question mark for 650twins in terms of saleschart?.. *Note- jawa bikes will definately eat up the saleschart of RE 350cc classic and RE business will definately decline in terms of saleschart..650twins r definately good bikes bt 650cc nvr soundzz practical in india.
650 twins wont be owned by a middle class family. yes its a good bike but on sales figure it wont go far. i think jawa price is not competitive because RE still can offer their entry bullet for 30,000 rs less compared to jawa. what most RE lovers ( not talking about blind fans ) hate is their after sale service. Jawa have to provide a solid service and not to treat customers like a trash after sold the bikes. if this happens then only the market place of RE will be gone. so lets see. if this Jawa gets blind followers, then rest in peace in to the after sale service because they dont worry about it since they are going to sell anyway. the same happened with RE its not RE which provides low quality its because they was not forced to . there was lot of blind fans wanted to buy it at any cost no matter where it stands technologically. i loved RE but i never liked to own one due to high maintanence and poor service.
650twins r made so affordable so that a middle class people cn buy thr product.. mileage is a factor in our country.. 350classic is close to 2lakhs.. 2lakhs is nt a less money still people buy becz 350 returnz bttr mileage..See 350cc =2lakhs, 650cc = 3lakhs, logically 650cc is far more value for money product.. bt 350cc =more mileage, 650cc= less mileage.. mileage is the main factor..

@@shuvrojyotikar9787Bhai classic 350 is 1.39 lakhs for non abs and 1.6 for Abs, depending on where you live. Also, forget the new blind followers VS gang on internet, people who like RE are the fans of long stroke engine and it's thump, which till date no bike has managed to produce not even Jawa and vibrations etc are not even relevant to that clan comparison is fine but Jawa has a lot of work to do before we can say it will eat the Classic 350's market share. RE fanbase is huge and let me assure you they are not going to buy Jawa no matter how refined the engine is. They even dislike the new Interceptor because it lacks the long stroke thump.
As far 650cc twins, it's a global machine RE has made this keeping international markets in mind, they know sales in India will be limited
Well right now...650 twins are annhilating the market for premium biked like harleys and triumphs stacking ridiculously massive sales in 650cc segment

Royal Enfield was enjoying all that monopoly of being the only classic style bike manufacturer in India. They didn't serve us with any quality bikes till a few days back. An I strongly think that you should wait before buying the Continental GT 650 even after you've tested it. Wait for a year at least (remember what happened to the Himalayan?). If you buy now or later, your waiting period isn't going to come down below 3-4 months.
I agree about waiting and not rushing in to get the first generation of any Royal Enfield bikes.

personally more excited about 650 twins than Jawa. they are good but there are enough new 300 CC bikes but no 500+ CC affordable bikes in India. JAWA will force RE to adopt new technology in 350 CC bikes before being replaced by competition. its a win-win for consumers.
my parents always spoke about ideal jawa btw my mum stayed in Mysore that's how I know. I love the look though and love the fun fact 😘

True, now it's the time for selling Nostalgia...as you said Yava or Yezdi/Jawa we call it during 80s, become the key selling factor...well, does they sounds like old-2-strokes... I doubt never these get close to the simple riding days starts with a kick..

Royal Enfield territory is the dream of many. Jawa, Norton, UM, Triumph, Benelli, ... are all looking forward to have a bite, but they still don't quite understand the Indian mind, even the fellow Indians sometimes !!! God knows when the Japanese also market the retro styled ones currently in Europe and others to India. Anyways, things are in favour of India being a big market, we get options to choose from. As usual, feeling awesome to hear from you and waiting for on road review with (some) stunning naked retro multi cylinders rumbling in background. Did I mean RE? No way.

How does jawa compare to the um motorcycles which also looks more classic even though a cruiser? I think um is more comparable to the new jawa in terms of specs.
I think the build quality of UM bikes isn't up to par. Jawa seems much better.

I believe Jawa will have upper hand over RE coz handling & performance (preferably for city conditions) . Interceptor is too heavy to handle & mileage part cud an imp factor too..
people who buy 650CC bikes are not gonna to look at the mileage.

The Interceptor will be the bike the Jawas have to beat. Why? You get a twin-cylinder engine, ABS, wide-distribution, bike clubs, a user-base that wants to upgrade for a price-point few multi-cylinder bikes can match. Builders and goons will continue to buy the Classic 350. I wonder how 3 egos will work together to build a company when one struggled with it.

FZ25 is better , NS200 just has a single channel ABS and 6gears but FZ25 is yamaha so more fun , more reliable , better mileage 👍

The JAWA's of 60's and 70's were awesome. Today's JAWA will not be successful in the market cuz of one thing , exhaust note, at by far from old JAWA and similar to splendor.
We'll have to wait until they launch the bike to see if that's true.
secret 7 I am from Kerala and got a chance to write a six page article in Topgear Malayalam magazine in October on the return of Jawa. The engine of new Jawa is not two stroke but four and it lacks the engine note. It is not same as that of Mojo. Mahindra has clearly said that it might seem identical but it would be a new one. It was not Jawa which left India. Jawa became Yezdi here and the problems in factory and staff ended it but not the quality problems. Jawa has never stopped in the world market. They have sports bikes and cruisers in foreign markets. We can hope for the best. Because, Jawa has a legendary history. So, I think that new Jawa will be far better.
Jawa had a great motorsports history. They made cars too. The king of Mysore and later governor of the state, named Jayachamaraja Wodeyar who inaugurated Jawa factory in India and paved the way for Jawa's popularity in India in the 60's, the change of their name as YEZDI, the departure, world famous sports bikes from Jawa, the Jawa mopeds and finally, the heroic return etc...The studies on the legendary brand JAWA deserve more. Jawa will sure be a great rival for Royal Enfield. Concluding with respect...
@@maneeshtm100 you have great knowledge, in my comment I meant that old JAWA had a great exhaust note, later followed by Yezdi in 75'. But I am even more determined about that the bs6 engine in new JAWA has made the sound even more refined than an bs4 engine would. Regards
