Real talk: I never liked this aspect of the Fine family. I *know* that it was just a typical 90s trope being played for laughs, and also meant to be contrasted between how Fran and Sylvia react to it. But they really hammered in the gold-digging thing.
I wouldn't take it too seriously. Like the whole show has got ridiculousness, stereotypes, hysterical moments and heartwarming moments 😂❤
