- 5 things to strictly avoid in turbocharger cars. Many turbocharged vehicles are running on Indian roads today including Hyundai Venue, Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Jeep Compass, Ford Endeavour and many more.
Driving a turbocharged car on the road takes some lesser efforts than others however it also includes a few necessary measures to take care of the engine of the car. Watch the video about 5 important things to take care of while driving a turbocharged vehicle. I have also explained basics of turbo lag in this video.
Quick Summary:
1) Engine Revving
2) Engine Shut
3) Engine Lugging & LSPI
4) Premium High Octane Fuels
5) Neutral Slip Angle (Oversterr & Understeer)

u r doing real good job, real technical things u r explaining and all r correct.. much better than motoroctane, hats up and in future make much more videos like it and also tie up with manufactures so that u can explain their minute drawbacks and they can improve on that
Thanks 😊
Wow, superb video. thanks for the info
Very informative. Good job mate!
Wow, that knowledge of yours is pleasing me every time.:)
awesome video, very technical and very detailed
What a video. Loved it!
Very crucial and valuable advise. Such explanation can only come from a professional which is such a relief to hear
wow Nick, such a crucial technical video
Fabulous, this is the best technical video about drive tips
Brother i drive 1.4L turbo petrol seltos manual.Do you suggest Premium petrol or regular petrol ?
Excellent suggestions thanks,
Sir agr high octane wla fule avialable ni h to kya octane boosters daale jaa skte hain ?
12:00 4 disc brakes can maintain the load on all wheels attempting to maintain the slip angles same in all wheels.
No like, WHY?
Great video, Seltos owners need to know this as they are so many now in India.
Sudden acceleration is harmful for any engine not only turbo engine. Yes turbo engine are kicking on a particular RPM , as in Nexon 1750 RPM required.
Best driving required 30 to 60 second stay on start mode .turbo engine Specially needs such habits for lubrication around engine.
second must
Excellent technical explanation
Very informative vdo Sir as I have venue 1.0 turbo
🙏dude ... ur amazing... thank you..
Driving responsibly is very crucial in all cars, but taking good care of Turbocharger vehicles is at most important. Share your turbocharger experience👇
i appreciate your knowledge
Very informative video ,👌
Superb....bro
Now a days turbo charged cars comes with automatic start stop. Will this create issues during highway driving and auto stop happens in toll booth ?
Very nice video.
बहुत अच्छी जानकारी👍
Thanks Nick. One question. I have promoted myself to turbo charged engine for the first time. And was not taking care of all the points you mentioned. Hence was getting low mileage and unburnt fuel smell, when I was switching off ignition. Guess now with this video it will change. I have driven the car for 3500 km and hope I have not damaged my engine much.
really good information
Brother Nexon xm keliye normal petrol or premium petrol.please suggest
Normal is also fine.
Hey my Kia carens 1.4L turbo is lagging in incline,it stops in the middle of the uphill, can you tell how to solve this problem
Downshift & keep the speed maintained before the inclined part starts.
Kindly advise regarding turbo lag in petrol 1.4 engine jeep compass - automatic. When I start from a stop signal , the pickup is quite slow, is this normal …, due to turbo lag perhaps 🤔 🙏🏼 thanks for your opinion, recommendation
It is expected… but better to reconfirm with other Compass owners in Fb groups of Compass.
Nice 👌 Sir tnx
One more help if you can. I am finding realy difficult on inclines to pull car in the first gear. I drive a 1.4 turbo petrol Carens. I always miss the sweet spot and my engine switches off as I am not coordinate between by clutch and accelatore. Can you please help me understand the problem and provide a solution
Slight clutch riding will give you practice for some time on inclined plain. We all do it in manual cars, especially cars with high power.
Never heard of these points before, thanks for sharing this crucial information.
Most best video till now
Good information sir
Bro Nissan magnite XE NA engine better or XL Turbo, I want to buy compact SUV for more power with less budget pls suggest

That's good information bro.
But if I am not getting high cetane numb diesel, what type of additives I can use?
What car do you drive Dr Jadhav?
Not at all advisable to use addictives... Because that can have unwanted results... Firstly, the additives would cause damage due to less fuel being consumed resulting in higher engine temperature especially in a small diesel engine. There is a high chance that this high temperature can cause the engine to runaway due to frequent knocking... Secondly, more fuel octane would result in more burning and more deposition of soot in EGR ... One of the 2 situations above will happen depending on the ECU software and code... So, overall, not recommended at all... In general, 3 cylinder diesel engines below 2 litres in capacity should not be modified by performance additives if long term reliability is a priority. You can stretch this upto 1.5 litres but strictly nothing below that, not even 1.4 Turbo. I advise you to use premium diesel, at max. High speed diesel; xtramile, Shell V power, etc.
@@NickZeek I have got 2007 Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi diesel clocked around 90000 Kms on odometer and I have got vw passat.
I have used liqui moly purge and liqui moly super diesel additive. They are good. Can you suggest anything better?
Thank you.
@@1.9tdilove71 need answer plz...
What I do is, in venue 1.0 turbo patrol, keep car on 6th gear and release clutch, accelrator. It gives me same speed of 40-45 . Smooth
Is it correct
Why 1.0 litte turbo take some time to increase speed while its new.
Sir ji Mg gloster twin turbo engine diesel is good performance or bad and it will be expensive and not long life engine guarantee and good or bad ? For purchase confuse
Let me review it after the launch, I promise I’ll share all real life details.
Nick Zeek sir ji your all video is thick knowledgeable and technical clarity view comments 👌👍
You should be a faculty of mechanical engineering. Me not being from mech background, still I was able to connect.
Awesome explanation.
Good info, but most of the points which you mentioned must be related to old turbo engines. Nowadays auto manaufacturers replacing Na engines with turbo engines . So do you still believe that these latest turbo engines should not have some inbuilt mechanism to prevent the negative things which you mentioned?
Basic car care can never be replaced through inbuilt mechanisms, it is not an Android phone upgraded through a patch. Inspite of ECU updates that may be available through software updates
Very good video. Gone 1st time through your channel. Hope I will get best knowledge. I have Tata Tiago (XZ) - 2018 model.
Thanks and welcome
This is really a kick ass video. And so much knowledge I got about turbo engines. Kudos to you buddy. I drove Seltos 1.5 Diesel Torque converter and fell in love with it. Now that I am getting a MG Hector 1.5 DCT at the same price. I don’t know which to choose. My drive is mostly city and very rarely highways. Can you please suggest? I did not like IVT either in creta or Seltos as i felt it had a rubber band effect.
Seltos 🔥
@@NickZeek thanks a lot sirji. U also answered my call and explained your answer and never was in a hurry to hang up and heard all my questions. Truly wonderful. May the force be with you and thanks 🙏🏽
Gud video sirji,,
I have a swift diesel 2012 model almost 90k run n well timely maintained car which runs butter smooth n in love driving ,,,yesterday inwent to ooty hill station n weather was cold ,, while I was started the hill climb in the morning with lot of hairpin curves, after driving with using only 2nd gear while climbing for 12km uphill ,, at one point with uphill traffic stopped n when I hit the 1st gear, there was no acceleration wen pressed hard, car was not at all moving!!! I was literally shaken wat to do n then some how made it barely move it with less acceleration n took u turn n came back downhill :( wat do u think the issue is,, I started my journey back to bangalore on NHighway ,, it was all normal,, wondering wat to do if I again to hill station!?
Very Very Informative 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks 😊 please share with others.
Nick Zeek I have booked creta diesel but my running is around 700 km pee mnth. Should i go for diesel only or shift to petrol. Budget is not an issue here. I want good drivebility.
Excellent explanations of various issues and how to deal with them. I am evaluating between NA & Turbo. I feel for a peace of mind driving experience CVT would be a better option.
Definitely
Very good video
hi.. i just want to knw about sonnet turbo petrol.. is that engine a silent reliable engine ? i keep car for min 8 years.. pls suggst.. whether to go fr sonnet 1.2 or 1.0 turbo
If you need a car for 8 years, don’t buy a turbo petrol car.
Buy a naturally aspirated engine:
Kia Sonet 1.2P
Venue 1.2P
Nissan Magnite XV 1.0 (non turbo)
Renault Kiger RXZ 1.0 (non turbo)
Creta 1.5P

@@NickZeek ok nick
.. 1.2 sonnet is ok enough.. power wise ? i tried venue 1.2.. it lagged..is sonnet also same ?
nice video, next video pls on how to take care of DSG gearbox
Yes that video is coming shortly.
Now this is serious business. Thanks for this informative video. Almost all points are known already that it happens. This is "What". But You have amazingly explained "Why and How". Are you an automobile engineer?
I am Aeronautical Engineering dropout 😅
Can I use cng in creta petrol turbo engine?
I suggest you to take a look at this video

Mazza aagaya video dekhkar.
@NICK ZEEK bhai xuv300 petrol long time k liye kaisi h lene ki soch rha hu please suggest 🙏
Good vehicle but low but space.
XUV 300 mein Diesel loge to thik hai, lekin agar Petrol chahiye to Venue 1.2P lena (Not 1.0 Turbo).
Xuv ka Petrol version sirf 3 cylinder wala Turbo hai, so Long term ke liye XUV300 petrol bharosemand nahin rahegi.
@@NickZeek thanks 😊
@@NickZeekIs Venue 1.2 under power?
You are very technically sound person, long way to go bro
✌️
1.5 litre toyota etios vs 1.5 litre xuv300
160-180NM torque vs 350NM torque
Will last 3-4 lakh km vs maybe 1.5 lakh km
Sir.. I watched your video and realised that I can't drive a Turbo car :)
if you drive without revving in a turbo charged diesel .. there are lots of chances clogging the dpf .. always ride in the turbo as soon as engine has achieved good temp
If you rev the engine than pressure on turbo & it might get spoilt & if you do not than the dpf gers clogged..
Kindly reply with an appropriate solution
@@HK-wv5zwalways change gear at 2500 rpm above .. dont ride always below 2000rpm which will clog dpf
@@mdharmaraj1631
on the highway what if we floor the accelerator pedal sometimes.. will it put pressure on the turbo & eventually spoil it.
Sir I hv a question...is there any possibility that in start go heavy traffic, wherein u hv kept the clutch pressed n ur turbo car in 2nd gear, all of a sudden ur turbo petrol engine starts reviving hard automatically???(like engine changes its noise when v switch on ac) pls reply as I have faced this situation in my petrol Nexon without even pressing accelerator..
Yes, even I recommend to avoid small turbo engines for such reason: czcams.com/video/ZqrPUDqL84Y/video.html
Venue ka 1.2 L petrol ya 1.0 Turbo petrol lena sahi hoga ??? Plz suggest
Naturally aspirated 1.2P hi lena agar long term reliability chahiye to.
Should I rev my diesel engine Of ford Fiesta before starting the car down
Not needed. Just start and keep idle for a few mins. in the first start of the day.
Hyundai creta 2020 diesel engine is normal crdi or turbo diesel?

👍👍👍 Gud info RCV. U took all the SUVs but u forgot XUVs😁😁
Should I drive by always keeping my turbocharger filled?
12:15 yes disc brakes are important
1.2L and 1.5L Nexon are both Turbocharged.
4:43 , engine lugging can also happen when one is driving in a gear that is higher than optimum at a given speed. Say trying to drive at 38 kmph at 6th gear with ac on...
That’s why I’am just avoiding all cars under 2000 cc that have turbo… naturally aspirated Petrol engines are amazing for daily driving cars.
@@NickZeek But aren’t NA engines very limited now? Most of the manufacturers have only turbo engines in the line up specially with the smaller engines. MS was only one with only NA engine line up but they too have added Turbo in their portfolio now.
Is this for petrol creta or diesal ??
Both
I have heard i20 1.2L engine is underpowered. Should I go for 1.2L CVT or 1L DCT for Hyundai i20?
1.2L CVT has 4 cylinders. Go for it.
@@NickZeek Sir why not 1L Turbo?
Explained in the video.
Nice 👍👍👍
Nice

@@NickZeek thanku ☺
Nexon and Ecosport petrol me bhi hai na TurboCharged
Yes
Second point is not true. It would be somewhat true only if you are using the weong viscosity oil than the one recommended. The most of the oil fliws and comes down in the chamber within 5-10 minutes of you shutting down the car.
kya baat hai bhai, solid video. Thanks for the details. I hope this applies to Duster also.
beautiful

Had no f^#%#g idea of these things which can lead to poor performance and damage to engine!
Many thanks for this !

Hi Nick great video i am planning to buy a Tata Nexon which is 1.2 L Turbocharged, is that a good choice considering its a turbo charged engine
Turbo engines are not bad, you just need to drive them responsibly. You can definitely choose a Turbo petrol vehicle if power output is your prime need.
Can anyone explain what he is telling in points ? I don't know hindi

Can you cruise at low speed in high gear? Like 15-20 kmph in 3rd? 20-25 kmph in 4th? Rpm will be around 1000-1300 I think.
Rpms to upshift: 1500-1800.
Ideal speeds per gear, depends on your car’s gear ratios…
Bhai mere pe 2 gadiya hai turbo charger wali, polo gt tsi aur skoda rapid tdi or aj tak koi dikkat nhi ayi mai toh puri revving krta hu or jo apne galitiya btayi sab krta hu regular basis pe.

@@NickZeek ho skta fr. But after driving a German, you will never like a korean or Japanese that's for sure. I recently tested the new creta turbo and seltos gt, but IMO spending a bit extra on VW T-Roc is money well spent.

Absolutely! ✌️🤩
Hello,
Should i go for innova crysta gx at petrol or kia seltos gtx+ dct?
Kindly suggest the better choice
For the best long term engine life and ultimate practicality, Innova Crysta 2.7 Petrol GX AT is the best option. For 2-3 years of usage, easy handling in city traffic, Kia Seltos 1.5 Petrol Automatic is best option. Watch this to know better: czcams.com/video/ZqrPUDqL84Y/video.html

Skoda kushaq bhi hai
Haan wo to abhi abhi aaye hain. Video zyada purana hai.
1.0L & 1.5L Turbo petrol of Skoda-VW, isn’t a good choice in my opinion for long term usage.
Truly admired by your knowledge, 👍😮
My opinion:- Disc brakes would create more imbalance as they act more aggressively than drum brakes but here I guess ABS will play it's role.
Waiting for your answer!!
Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, you are right. The brake load will impact slip angle further, and ABS in most sub 4m small SUVs is usually 3 channel. So better to apply gradually and slow the car before cornering.
Gotcha👍👍
