The Scariest Hike in Southern California: Galena Peak to Little San Gorgonio Traverse

- We were on the hunt for a challenging hike in SoCal, and wow did this one deliver.
The Galena Peak to Little San Gorgonio Traverse is quite possibly the scariest hike in Southern California. Most of the hike is off trail in the San Gorgonio Wilderness, and requires class 3 and class 4 scrambling for miles across the Yucaipa ridgeline. But hikers are rewarded with panoramic views of all of Southern California's most spectacular mountains, including the famous San Jacinto and San Gorgonio Peaks.
Disclaimer: This is one of the most dangerous hikes we have ever done. The Galena to Little San Gorgonio traverse could result in injury or even death, and we assume no responsibility if you decide to attempt this hike. Climb at your own risk.

Hey guys! Just wanted to be real clear that even though this hike is near the fire closure area, we called the ranger ahead of time, walked through our route with him, and got the go-ahead to do the climb. So, though we don't recommend it, it is actually a legal hike. ✌️
Thank you for posting that. It is good to hear that you check with the ranger station first. In any area this is important but especially San Gorgonio Wilderness where permits are often required for check-in and out registration. But also having proper equipment, including clothing layers, hydration and food, emergency supplies and satellite personal locator beacon (PLB) or communicator. I have backpacked and stayed overnight at Dollar Lake. It was amazing in late spring, still with snowy spots (2018). Ice crampons were required and snow shoes in places. This is why it is also important to check with the ranger station before you hike.
Just because it's a legal hike doesn't make it a good idea.
@@greenspiraldragon true, but it's a reasonable "first requirement"
You two rock and Elise “Boo Boo” you really rocked it I almost cried with you…I’ve never been in a hike like that but I’ve felt I was there with, amazing job both of you..
Thanks so much! Very glad you saw this one -- it's still one of our most cherished hiking memories, both because of overcoming the fear and also because it's such a rite of passage for hardcore SoCal hikers. ❤️
One of the most intense, incredible, limit pushing hiking videos on CZcams. The resolved it took to complete that traverse is next level. Be safe and keep doing your thing!
Wow, what an awesome compliment! We’re currently driving back from an exhausting sufferfest, and that kind comment just really perked us right up. So glad you liked it, and look out for the one we have coming up this week because it’s a doozy! 🤣❤️
Your baby joke was so funny and the way you laugh about it makes it so much funnier, I lol'd big time. "Whats that baby doing on the mountain anyway?" Lololol, well played and good finish sir!
Haha I laughed so hard when he said that -- it's become like an ongoing riff for us now whenever we have to give up a lot of vertical 😂 --E
Vocals are stunning! Great accompaniment to the stark, steep ravines.
Thanks Mark!!! So excited to share some of the new songs with you. We're saving them for the epic Alps and Dolomites hikes we have coming up, but that trip starts in less than two weeks!!! ❤️
Love that this is a woman and man team!
You guys blow me away, and best to live vicariously through you.
Safe travels. 🌿
Thanks so much Susan! We love that about our team too. We both bring different strengths that really compliment one another, and it's the only way we're able to get all this stuff done! Very glad you're enjoying it. Looking forward to bringing you lots more this summer!
Did this traverse back in the 90’s. You have no idea how much “easier” it was back then - ridge line was trees and brush over all the now-exposed rock. So many “brush belays” back then. Major kudos to you both for the completing the fire-damaged and much more difficult version of this traverse.
Bob, that is SO dope you did this in the 90s. We were thinking it probably would have been easier before the fires, because there were these burned out trees that are now not trustworthy. You want to grab them, but then they just break off in your hand like the rock! It sounds like you know this area well - please let us know if there are any other great hikes we should know about.
Wow what awesome information from the 90s! You all make me so inspired to keep hiking more and harder!!!
@@julieemerine8435 Hope to hear the tale of you crushing it out there Julie!
Omg I am always so nervous for you guys, that loose rock 😳. Wow it looks horrifying . I love that I can watch from the comfort of my home 😀
I live in Yucaipa, the city right below, and see this mountain every day. Didn't know you could even get up there! That's awesome
That's really cool you live there, Seth -- what a wonderful area for fun and adventure in both summer and winter conditions! Glad to show you a hidden gem right there in your 'hood! ❤️
You guys.... I actually cried too when Elise broke into tears. I know that feeling from some of the hikes I've been on in SoCal. Not at the level you guys do, but I know that feeling!! Great job! Amazing what body and mind can do.
Aw, Danielle! That seriously means so much. It's so hard to put into words all the different emotions that come up at the end of a hard climb or challenging physical effort like that. If you've been there before then you totally understand. Sometimes it's just so hard to believe what you are capable of, it really did feel surreal to be on that creek bed again! Thanks so much for the support and sweet words ❤️ -E
Freaking hardcore! Super glad you guys are safe. Love the vids but don’t get hurt. Do not go past limits for us in CZcams land. 100 % respect the effort it takes to do this AND film it as well. Elise is a Trooper! Both are for sure!
Thank you so much! And to be honest, we did not expect the hike to be this dangerous. We wanted to show honestly how dangerous it was, but please know that we are not out there courting danger. We want beauty, adventure, and to push ourselves, but we plan to avoid these crumbly rock cliffs and stick with granite as much as possible in the future. ❤️❤️
What an awesome and extremely scarry hike you both took!! Elise, I'm so proud of you for the extraordinary effort you put to make it safe from those steep cliffs. Adam, my respect to you to be able to lead the way and have nerves of steel to inspire confidence in such crucial moments. Thanks for the almost 360 degree views up there. You both deserve a good, relaxing break from this one!! I'm so glad you made it back safe!! Many blessings!!
Thanks so much, Orlando! Yes this was one of the two scariest hikes we've ever done (along with Cloudripper), and we were super psyched to get down safely. Probably won't be doing this one again any time soon, but truly do enjoy thinking back on it now. ❤️
You two are one of the most craziest couple on CZcams I would never ever hiked that hell no. 1 wrong stepping there you go you roll down
Haha you are not wrong -- this was one of the diciest hikes we've ever done. After all that crumbly rock, we were SO glad to get back to climbing the more solid granite in the high Sierra! ❤️
Your fitness is off the proverbial charts! Freaking insane! Keep enjoying every minute of it!
Thank you so much Ilia! We are having an absolute blast out there. And thanks for your comment about our fitness as well - we're still working on increasing that so we can do even harder and longer hikes. But it's definitely a process that takes time 😊
You guys are crazy!!! and love it!! 😍
Haha glad you liked this one! It was def a little dicier than we expected because the rocks were so loose after the fire, but still really glad we did it. Such a classic SoCal adventure! ❤️
You two are awesome! The mountain is physically demanding but mentally too and not everyone knows that! I was so scared just watching you! I’m just in awe😍😍
Thanks so much Stephanie! You are absolutely right, and we never have felt the mental and emotional demands so intensely as on this adventure. The good thing is, that when you come back from something like this, and then encounter stresses at work or in everyday life, they seem so small in comparison!
Wow! That looked extraordinarily difficult! So sketchy in so many places. When you looked back at that saw-toothed ridge that you traversed it showed me just how ambitious this hike really was. I think this is the first of your videos that I have watched where the combined physical exertion and fear seemed to show. Yet in the midst of it you were still encouraging, upbeat, and positive! How you guys manage to be so upbeat and positive when totally exhausted is beyond me! Seeing that is an inspiration for my own life when things get tough. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, thank you so much Gary. To be completely honest with you, we were pretty nervous to post this one, because we know it's much different than our typical upbeat and joyous adventures. But at the same time, hiking is not always blissful beauty, sometimes it just really beats you up, and one of our top priorities is keeping it real with you guys. So, even though this one was a bit vulnerable, we're glad we shared it with you. And we couldn't agree more with you - getting through extreme physical and mental challenges like this while out on the trail makes daily stresses so much more manageable. Really puts things in perspective.
Just WOW!!! This one left me with my mouth open!! Ever since I found your channel, I have been addicted to watch every single of your adventures. I have definitely gotten some ideas about where to go hiking. Maybe I won't try some of the strenuous ones, like this one, until I'm more physically equipped to endure such beautiful, adrenaline induced hikes like you have. Truly my respects to you both and thank you for sharing your adventures. Definitely makes me want to go out and hike more often! Great job on this one. Elise you are a rock start! You both are!!
Wow Gabby, thank you so much for that inspiring comment! We're really excited that this makes you want to go out and hike more often. That's truly what it's all about for us. We're just delighted that you like these adventures, and can't wait to keep sharing more of them with you! Please let us know how your own hiking journey progresses. ❤️
Great video you guys!!! Definitely looking forward in trying this one, for sure!!! GREAT JOB!!!... stay safe
Thank you so much Santiago!! If you enjoy crazy exposed ridges, this is definitely the climb for that. But just promise you will be careful out there!
Amazing. Wow, oh Elise I am crying with you. Great Job! Love your adventures.
Aw thanks so much Casey! Yeah, that one was TOUGH. But definitely character building 😂 So glad you're enjoying, got lots of epic stuff coming up this summer!
Incredible! Glad you both lived to tell about it. Amazing "Trail" don't think I will be trying that anytime soon.
Thank you so much! And yeah... grateful we lived to tell the tale, and don't think we need to ever do that one again 😂
Awesome!! when I was a kid in the 60's, part of a scout troop, we climbed San Gorgonio, San Jacinto and Whitney..... but you lguys???? WOW WOW AMAZING!!! Thank you for your channel so much!!!
Bob that's a pretty awesome scout troop that took you up Whitney!! They probably wouldn't do that these days with liability, etc, but it's too bad -- that must have been an incredible formative experience with your friends. Really glad you're enjoying the channel -- lots of big stuff coming up in 2022!!❤️
Wow you guys are tough. Hats off to Elise, I'm a guy and I don't think I could do that. I worked for the Forest Service as a firefighter cutting fireline for handcrew.
Thanks George! Well as you could see from all the burn area we encountered on this one, the work you did is pretty much the most important thing a person can do to preserve our beautiful forests in this era of extreme droughts. Thank you very much for that service -- we're genuinely honored that we can bring you a little entertainment from the areas you worked so hard to protect!
Thanks so much for sharing your adventures. Your can do attitude is amazing.
Makes me feel young again! Looking forward for the next one. Stay safe.
Yes Tom! It's making ME feel young again too! 😂 So glad you're enjoying, and looking forward to bringing you lots more great stuff as the summer goes on. Cheers, -A
You guys are absolute legendary badasses. This makes I2B look like a stroll around the neighborhood. I will not be adding this to my to-hike list. Thanks for posting this amazing video!
Haha, Ali you are absolutely right. I2B is physically grueling but not nearly as scary as this one! Let's just say, I didn't burst into tears on I2B 😂 -E
Wow. Thats hiking at a whole new level. Challenging, scary, but absolutely beautiful. Great job both of you for accomplishing this while being as safe as you could.
Thank you so much! It was all of those things and then some, including all the emotions 😂 Glad we could share with you and appreciate your support!! ❤️
Elise, you are my new patron saint of pushing your edge in hiking! haha
You are inspiration to me for my own hiking!
You have no idea how much this comment totally made my day! Your words could not possibly have been any sweeter. We often can't believe that there are such wonderful people like you who enjoy not only our adventures but our music as well. We're still learning as we go, but just so so happy you're finding some inspiration from all this, that's really what it's all about for us. Definitely keep us posted on your own hiking adventures. Love to hear what our friends are getting up to out there! ❤️ -E
Thanks you guys for sharing your incredible adventures with us couch potatoes....well guess I should speak for myself. Love the views....the 4k is amazing. Can tell you guys really enjoy each other and the many challenges you face. Keep them coming.
Haha so glad you're enjoying the adventures, Steve! We really appreciate your kind words, and will definitely keep the adventures coming -- we have so many ideas for places we want to explore that we can barely keep up with ourselves! ❤️
Wow this is incredibly scary and dicey. Please be safe guys. The views are quite amazing
Haha ya we learned some lessons on this one. After this, whenever we get to a ridge with really loose rock and long drops, we turn the heck around! ❤️
You guys! This was INSANE! You are rock stars!
You’re the sweetest Brenda, thank you so much! This one was a liiiiitle insane even for us! 😂
Great job. I was not expecting CZcams to recommend me this video. This brings back memories. Did this around 2009 with Ze, and I remember the crumbly rock, mostly while climbing the headwall. Even though it wasn't the longest hike and didn't have the most elevation gain, it was really brutal.
Winston, that is so dope that you've done this! Not many people have. So glad CZcams recommended us to you, and hope you'll enjoy the videos we have coming up this summer! Got some pretty exciting plans.
You guys are an amazing couple! Elis, you killed it.. I could never..... Much love.....
Aw, thank you so much Ana! Just a few years ago, I would have said I could never do something like this also. So, you never know. Much love right back at ya ❤️
I almost cried at the end when you guys made it down, I can only imagine the sense of relief but the accomplishment of doing something that challenging.
Aw! That's exactly where those tears were coming from. During intense physical or mental challenges, I'm typically pretty good at just getting locked in and focusing on the task at hand. It's not until I'm through that I'm just flooded with all the emotions - it's joy, it's being grateful to be safe and alive, and it's a release of all the psychological stress that we just put ourselves through. I'm okay with those kind of tears :) - E
@@LiveHardxLoveHard ❤️❤️
Loved it, but I can’t do this kind of stuff anymore so I will live vicariously through you. Way to go! Love your videos.
Thanks Keith, we're so happy to hear you're loving the videos! Yeah this is definitely one of those adventures where it's probably better just to live it vicariously -- too many loose rocks that could cause damage. We were super proud to finish this hike because it's sort of a rite of passage for hardcore SoCal hikers, but we definitely don't plan to do it again any time soon! ❤️
Great job to both of you guys! Most of all to Elise she’s a warrior !
That is so darn sweet, Elizabeth. Thank you SO much! Very glad we made it through this in one piece, and embracing those battle wounds! :D
Awesome. I dont think I could ever do something like that. Props to both of you. Especially Elise!
Aw, thanks so much! Truthfully, I'm not sure I could ever do something like this one ever again 😂 We really didn't know it would be this dangerous until we got up there. But now very glad we did it and got the experience. Type 2 fun, right? -E
Elise, you are my inspiration! Greetings from Poland. Karolina
Thank you so much, Karolina! That makes me very happy to hear!! ❤️
Well done you two. That seemed intense for sure but you conquered it. The will to succeed got you through it.
Thanks Steve, this one was scary AF. And you are right -- it was largely willpower (and a relatively high risk tolerance!) that got us through this one. ❤️
Wow! That’s some serious scrambling! Nice one you two!!
Haha, yeah we LOVE a good scramble, but probably not on rock as crazy loose and crumbly as this was. Thanks so much Steven!
You guys are so intense! Great job on those difficult areas. Livin life to it fullest!
Right on! Living life to the fullest is basically our whole mantra. So glad you enjoyed it, and we will keep on bringing the intensity!
Thank you for sharing your skills & adventures. What brand of hiking boots do you recommend?
Amazing, incredible! Thanks for sharing! Safe hiking
Our pleasure to share, Randy! This hike was seriously nuts, but also a kind of hardcore SoCal hiker rite of passage, so we're ultimately glad we did it. ❤️
Wow! That looked super sketchy on my TV! Glad you guys made it out ok
Thanks George! Yes it was really sketchy -- we're pretty sure because the heat from the recent fire had burned away the vegetation and loosened the rocks. We definitely hadn't expected it to be that loose, but it was a very good learning experience about testing every hand and foothold. Hopefully that will help us on tough future climbs as well! ❤️
You guys again an amazing video. I am a fan. You guys inspire me to hike more. Elise you are TRULY AN INSPIRATION.
Wow Rasika, thank you SO much for saying that. That is all the inspiration we need to keep going out there and bringing the cameras with us. So happy that we're inspiring you to get out on the trails. Please keep in touch and let us know what hikes you're doing this summer!
Wow 👏! Great job! You guys are amazing!
Aw, thank you so much! So glad we could share the adventure with you 😊
Amazing!! That made my pslms itch! I love your videos. I don't think I'll ever be ready for a "hike" like that, but this has inspired me to do Runyan inside of laying about today!
Mary!! We love NOTHING more than hearing we've inspired a hike or run out there. That's what this is all about for us. Hope Runyon was good and sweaty!!
Yall are brave! Amazing Hike. Thank you for sharing and risking your lives!
Thanks Anthony! It's truly our pleasure to get to share these adventures with you guys. This was definitely a dicey one. We're going to be glad to get back into the Sierras this summer where the hikes are tough and the views are spectacular, but there's not as much crumbly rock!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard You’re welcome! definitely a nice perspective on the harder hikes that I don’t typically do, so its comforting sitting in during you hike while it happens and exploring the different areas 😎
Wow! Incredible video! Views are amazing! Breathtaking! But your adventure is so dangerous!
Aw thank you so much! And yes, you are right - we don't need to be climbing on such loose and crumbly rock again anytime soon haha. But don't worry plenty of other crazy fun adventures to be had!!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Everything is cool with you! Your channel is best! Good luck to you!
I love scrambling on stable rock. I would never attempt the climb you just did, but I sure did enjoy watching you do it. Thanks for sharing!
Haha we're with you on that, David -- not sure we'd attempt this climb again either! Very glad you enjoyed, though. And if you like scrambling on stable rock you would love the Dolomites! We just spent several weeks there doing incredible via ferrata climbs, and highly recommend it! ❤️
This is the craziest hike I’ve ever seen. Forget the one in China or anywhere else really, this is truly mind blowing. Congrats guys and thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much! And.... what is this hike in China? We might have to try it as soon as travel starts up again. 😏
What you went through is unbelievable. There were moments when I cringed and had to close my eyes for a moment. I'm so glad that you survived!
Thanks Gar -- ya we knew that one was gonna be rough, but maybe because of the recent wildfires burning away all the supporting vegetation it was even rougher than we expected. Just so crazy loose and crumbly. Very grateful to make it through relatively unscathed!
I used to drop hikers off at Forest Falls and pick them up near Coon Creek Jump Off. I never attempted that myself. IT SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME. This couple are not only skilled hikers, they are amazing people. Hiking takes forever when you have to be sure of every footfall.
Thanks so much! And you are totally right - the one thing we probably didn't emphasize enough is just how long it took. We really underestimated the amount of time (and thus also the amount of water) because the uncertainty of every step was just so unexpected. We definitely learned some lessons on this one!
You guys are nuts. I can't stop watching...
Haha this one was definitely insane even for us!! 😜
Good evening Adam and Elise!! Wow....more incredible scenery; as well as great human accomplishments! Thank you for bringing the vicarious hikers along with you two on this route. You two are very inspirational, to say the least. Though I'd love to hike in the general area, I will leave that traverse to the other great folks out there. I would bring my dog up to the top of that head wall area; he really digs those 45deg pitch roves up the cliffs.
Safe travels!!
Yes Alan! He would love the head wall and the steep hike up to Galena- that’s a perfectly legit and beautiful hike all on its own- no need to do the crazy traverse!
Just when I think ya'll could not get anymore bonkers, you do this! Haha! Awesome stuff as always!
Haha aw thanks Jamie! This one might have been a little too bonkers even for us. We're thinking for the next couple maybe a little more sufferfest and a little less scarefest 😂 But don't worry, we still have some pretty scary ones planned for this summer!
Crying with you.....oh my brave, strong, courageous YOU TWO ARE!!! ❤️🌺🌸🏵️🌻💮
Aw thank you!! Very glad you saw this one -- truly a scary adventure for us, but one that we learned a lot from and remember very vividly! ❤️
Now that’s an adventure! Good job you two
Thanks so much!! This was a wild one for sure. Definitely glad we were able to make it out of this one safely!
Congrats!thanks for great video
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed this one. That ridgeline was pretty gnarly, but still a great adventure. Glad we made it out to tell the tale!
What a hike, definitely wanna give it a try
Awesome! Just be aware of how crumbly and dicey it's gotten since the fire. Test every single handhold and foothold, and let us know how it goes :)
When I did Devil’s backbone and Angel’s Landing, I though they were my scariest. When I saw you guys, Devil’s backbone is elementary. I will try Galena’s peak. My eyes was watery for her at the end. She did it. She was very exhausted . She made it 👏👏👏.
Thanks Ysagani! Yes Galena is definitely harder and scarier than Baldy or Angel's Landing. Please remember to bring more water than you expect to need, and also a helmet when you do it. Once we saw how much loose rock there was, we really wished we'd brought ours!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard ….thanks man….😊
Y’all are crazy. I love it 😁😁
Haha, we totally embrace our insanity! Although this one may have been a little to cray even for me! -E
Un. real. Elise, you are just amazing. I was holding my breath.
Thank you so much, Dorothea! Yes even after all the stuff we've done, nothing was scarier to me than this one. Well, Cloudripper was pretty scary too, but at least it didn't have as much loose rock! ❤️ --E
fantastic video folks. really inspiring.
Wow thank you so much John! Sharing some inspiration is really what it's all about for us, so that means a lot ❤️
Love your content guys!!!! Both of you inspired me to do Angels Landing!!! Made it all the way in the rain be safe!!!
Wow thank you, we love to hear that!! ❤️ And congrats on AL-- that must have been pretty dicey coming down in the rain, but at least you probably had it mostly to yourself!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard oh yes it was a little dicey I slipped a couple of times but nothing TOO dicey I actually took both of you guys advice and went Super early and I saw maybe 10 people it was awesome, and when I reached the top of angels landing it was just me and 2 other people was so beautiful!! Glad I ran across you guys have inspired me to take on these kind of challenges. Great job Elise!!!
Thank you - that was a scary one for sure!
Y’all have such a fun channel & also this video reminds me WHY I don’t climb🤪🥵😹
Haha thanks, and yes this traverse was particularly dicey. Don't let it deter you from climbing on the good solid granite in places like the Sierra, but we're right there with you in terms of avoiding this loose stuff when we can! ❤️
Love it all. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much John! This was one insane adventure!!
Strong work. You two were made for this state.
Thanks Guregori! You totally get us. This state is our natural habitat. Love traveling the world, but always excited to come home and adventure here. 😊
geat accomplishment! always keeping it real, never exaggerating. This is one of those hikes where towards the end you just don't care about filming and just wanna get back to the car!
Thank you so much! And that is absolutely true - that down climb was brutal, physically but also mentally because the route just wasn't clear amidst all the bushwhacking. It was so stressful not knowing if we'd get cliff bonked and it really wasn't until we got back down to that creek bed that we could breathe a sigh of relief. So yeah... filming was the last thing on our minds at that point!
The love and support between the two of you
Thank you Franny! Very sweet of you to notice and support that. ❤️
Omg elise I started crying when you were crying 😭 that looked so brutal. You are such a badass warrior woman!! I’m so proud of you! I never want to do this hike ever 😅

you guys are so tough! Awesome climb.
Thanks so much! Yeah this one definitely was a bit dicier than we bargained for, but it was.great experience and, as you say, toughened us up and gave us important confidence for other scary hikes.
Oh, wow! You really outdid yourselves! Definitely the scariest hike so far. I have wondered about this traverse for many years, studying it on topo maps, and never heard of anyone attempting it before. Now I'm not sure I want to! I had no idea how technical it is and all that fractured rock is terrifying. But you prevailed! You have skills. Thank you for sharing another exciting and informative video.
David! Yes, we had wondered about it too, and it was pretty hard to find any beta on the hike. It may have gotten harder since the fires took away all the vegetation. Someone told us that it wasn't quite as hard back in the 90s when he did it. Anyway, it can be done, but there's no question that it's a risk, because some of those rocks just feel like they could go at any time. When it comes to climbing cliffs, we're going to try to stick mostly to granite :)
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Sierra granite is very secure! Most of the time. I wonder how many unknown routes still exist in our local mountains? Glad you are both safe.
@@davidparker1746 Would be curious to know that too. We've been having fun researching some of the lesser known climbs. And you stay safe out there :)
thanks for the video....awesome hike!

I don't know how I missed this one back in June, this is my country back in the mid-'70s, I had some of Adam's physique, but probably wasn't as tough as Elise...hated seeing the burn damage to a beautiful landscape, thanks for taking me back to this area, It holds special meaning for me...as always you guys are fantastic
Thanks Bill! It really was sad seeing all the burned trees. But on the upside, even though it wasn't long after the fires we already saw some green shoots of new life starting to come out, so it's already starting to regenerate. Glad to take you back to the area -- one of the most beautiful places anywhere, with Gorgonio and San Jacinto and the whole beautiful valley all in view. ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard OMG I accidentally hit the thumbs down, but I fixed it...These areas kick back pretty quick thankfully and infact sometimes they say it's good for them to burn off any underbrush (though I doubt there was much undergrowth way up there)
Beautiful climb
Gorgeous views! Thanks for sharing
Thanks guys! Happy to share. We always feel so lucky to have such beauty right here in our backyard.
Holy shit. You guys are badass. Thanks for all the great views.
Thanks Martin! Ya this one was definitely scarier than we'd expected because of all the loose rock -- but a great experience, and one we definitely learned a lot from. ❤
Wow!!!! I need to get in way better shape, because y’all gave me more goals I gotta achieve!!! Love it!!
That is awesome!! We love nothing more than to hear we've inspired some adventure goals. What's on your bucket list now?! Gotta keep us updated :D
Very impressive, I didn't even know about that hike existing probably because very few have ever done it. You can be proud of that one.
Thanks so much George! Yeah, this one required a lot of research just for some scraps of beta on the route. Definitely feel proud, but also learned a lot about our limits this time around - love a good scramble, but no more of that loose rock nonsense!
Elise just want you to know your an amazing beautiful person,so proud of your inner strength and fortitude to complete such an amazing feat, and Adam to always portray his confidence in you,and be the bright light of happiness in all your adventures to always allow successful outcomes in your goals of hiking.I never seen two people like you and Iam so happy I got to know you both through your spectacular videos,as always thank you both for the special gift of happiness you have given me with the most beautiful places of nature one could ever dream of seeing-powerful stuff😊❤️❤️❤️❤️
Joseph, you are absolutely the best! We look forward to your comments so much because they always give us so much joy. Can't wait to keep sharing adventures with you!

I've done stuff like this; running and climbing off trail, guessing at what to do next. That feeling when getting towards the top of something and thinking, 'christ I hope I don't have to come down this way...' But then what if you do? It messes with your head a bit. The level of stress can wear you down as much as it wakes you up. You guys did great. Thanks for sharing this video.
Yes! You pretty much described the feeling exactly. It's exhilarating, but after many hours it really starts to wear you down emotionally. But as you know, you feel hella proud of it when you're done. Very glad you liked this one -- def one of the adventures we remember most vividly!
Thanks for having us along.
Our pleasure Jeffrey! So glad you enjoyed the adventure. Lots more coming your way this summer!
I love your videos you guys rock so much Holy heck!
Wow thank you so so much! We love making these videos- it’s so fun to connect with others who love adventuring as much as we do!!
That was pretty intense. I don’t know how you guys did it but you guys did! Y’all are insane.. 😂💪🏻 my stomach was getting sick seeing all those drop offs..and my legs felt like jello.. glad you both made it safely!!
Haha Chris, it's basically like you were right there with us because that's exactly how we were feeling! Very grateful we made it out of this thing with just a couple of scrapes and bruises. We'll be sticking to granite from now on!
Hi You Two (smiles & hugs) Until now, the only reality video that had ever made me catch my breath watching was an "Angel's Landing Trail" video.....but now? OM....OM.....OM.....that was unbelieveably absolutely extraordinarily & exceptionally AWESOME !!! Period.
GOD BLESS ALL YOUR ADVENTURES YOU TWO !!!
Haha, yeah we've done Angel's Landing a few times and that is definitely a breath taker! What's nice about it, though, is that none of the rocks are loose so at least you're never worried about falling 😂 Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers, it will definitely fuel us on the next big adventure!
Fantastic, now put a ring on her finger. You guys rock.
Thanks Hugh! Believe me, I'm tryin' -- wedding got cancelled two summers in a row because of Covid, but hopefully third time will be lucky! --A
Another amazing hike guys 👏👏 I wish I had half the guts and fitness you both have. You are true hiking warriors. Elise for the next Lara Croft 💪. Love from Wales 🏴❤️
Thank you so much! Lara Croft is definitely my spirit animal. BTW we're dying to get out there and run Snowden. We'll prob hit you up to see if there are any other dope hikes in Wales! Adam remembers it very fondly from when he went to boarding school in England as a kid. Cheers , -E
You're mountain goats ! I love your adventures! 🐐 👏 👍
Haha thank you so much!! We live for these kind of adventures, so glad you do too ❤️🤗
Nature is beautiful, but unforgiving. I'm sooo glad you made it back safe and sound! That's an amazing accomplishment!
Thanks so much Mark! We're glad and very grateful we made it back safe and sound too. We honestly hadn't expected it to be that dangerous, but sometimes it just goes like that and you have to adjust. You put it perfectly - nature is unforgiving.
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Your kind response made my day! -btw, I plan to hike Goat Mountain at the end of this month. I'll let you know how it goes :-)
@@markmcla you’re talking about goat mountain in kings canyon? I was just trying to talk Adam into that one today!!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard YUP! I'm sure you can convince Adam. He'll enjoy this hike. He has a great spirit. Also, I'll record this hike on my gps gadget when I go, and I'll share my gps route and a trip report with you. :-)
@@markmcla That would be incredibly helpful! I've been trying to figure out what the snow level/ice situation is on that peak but it seems like it's so rarely done that there's no current beta. Hoping to get out there soon!
This is my favorite video so far. You both are absolute monsters!
I appreciated the trail advice and that post hike authenticity! My girlfriend and I just watched and she knows exactly how those “back to the trailhead tears” feel.
Would you mind sharing the route or GPX file? Thank you for sharing your adventures!
Wow, that is awesome, thank you so much! Are you guys both thinking about doing it? It was a pretty amazing experience, but honestly much more dangerous than we had expected. The looseness of the rock doesn't totally come through in the video, but it definitely feels pretty dicey up there. Happy to share our GPX file, just shoot us an email adamandelise@livehardxlovehard.com .
You guys are making the Mt. Whitney Mountaineer's Route look easy.
Haha ya Whitney is hard because of the extreme altitude (people often get dizzy and sloppy unless they're really acclimatized), but it's relatively easy in terms of technical difficulty.
