  • In todays video we are installing a hypervolt electric car charger on a new build property , This install was nice and neat and the best and easiest option was to install straight from the meter cupboard.

The cutout is rated at 100A. That's what the label refers to. They can fit whatever fuse they want into it.

Hello mate, bit of advice from an industrial spark, bootlace ferrules are designed for fine multi-strand conductors ( found in Flex, HO7, Tri-Rated etc) 7 strand conductors like what's found in SWA, 16mm Earth and that EV Ultra cable should have blade crimps installed if you feel they need something to keep the cores together at the termination. Ferrules can fail on these conductors :) Keep up the good work chap!

As a meter installer the 100amp sticker actually is for maximum fuse allowed, it could be an 80amp. BG policy is they should’ve applied their own sticker to identify the correct fuse. Great work though mate!

You’re about to get a load of stick for putting that board inside the meter cupboard 😂 also, those Henley blocks aren’t (as far as I’m aware) accepted by any meter installers and will likely need changing to the proteus coloured ones (seperate ones for L and N)

Not sure I agree with this install Adam. The meter cupboard should not have a CU inside it. eFixx done a episode about it about a year ago. The ENA (Energy Networks Association) have a document stating what goes where in the meter cupboard. It also looks like the isolator is in the wrong position and has the cables going over the meter. On closer inspection it seems the iso has been moved as there are screw holes visiable for the orignal location.

Try not to butt up the Henley right against the meter. The meter will get changed at some point, and it will be a slightly different size, so you really are going to annoy someone in future.

not true, the DNO owns the head and the meter company owns the meter but the homeowner owns the cupboard. there's plenty of room left so there's no issue.

@@ChristmasCrustacean1plenty of room left? Yes after the isolator has been moved sideways. There’s no room in there for all that. That’s why the tails are over the equipment, the Henley block has been rammed up against the meter. Ultimately that’s why BG produce that board suitable for outdoor use. That board would have looked fine on the right hand side of the cupboard. Now there would have been ‘no issues’
