- As I've journeyed thru my adventure riding - I have bought many boots - more than you know...haha - but I've settled on a few I think that are above the rest. I also share pricing on these for whatever budget you have for a solid Adventure boot. Here are the links:
1.) SIDI Adventure2 Gor-Tex
www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/s...
2.) AlpineStars Toucan Gor-Tex
www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/a...
3.) Forma Terra Evo Dry X
www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/f...
4.). BMW VEnture Grip Boot
www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/b...
The best boots are the ones that fit. Period.
That is an important consideration. Different manufacturers use different lasts which will greatly affect fit and comfort. A* just don't fit me. Forma works very well (I don't have the one in this video, however).
Nope. Yes they must fit snug to offer protection. But they also need to offer real protection to the ankle and foot area and none of these do this.
Thanks for the in-depth review. It was very helpful.👍🏻
Thank you...glad it helped!!!
Absolutely fantastic review. I was ready to purchase one of these boots and after watching your video, I'm paying a little more and getting a better-fitting boot, Thank you,.
Thank you and glad it helped!!!
Great Boot review.
thank you!!!
Great video, thanks for sharing.
So prior to watching your video I had narrowed it down to the Sidi Adventure 2 and the Toucan. I can see the Toucan has more protection than the Sidi. I like the idea of the hinge system on the Sidi and the high water proofing. Do you think the Alpine Stars Corozal is more equivalent to the Sidi Adventure 2’s?
I just got the new Yamaha T7, I am 55 years old and plan on pushing my limits. Had dirt bikes in my younger years. Thoughts?
I like waterproof - with getting into this adventure thing...getting the feet wet Stinks...hahah - You may want to look at the Tech 7 Enduro DryStar....make the extra investment now...the extra $100 or so you will not regret...as you are getting into this...cost add up as you know...make the investment you won't go wrong...I went thru a few pair until I got to this point....good luck and glad you enjoyed!!!
@@lifesjourneyat50 so you think the Tech 7enduro dry star is a better boot than the Sidi Adventure 2? I really want the best (highest) water protection. I don't want a full on motocross boot but I want the most comfortable boot with the best protection. Thanks for your reply,
@@davehartsock9106 then stick to the SIDI 2 - Higher water protection absolutely -
I have 2 pairs of Alpine stars. Corizals oiled leather for touring, Toucans if doing anything off road.
Thanks for the review. My understanding is that the Sidis are much harder to bend left and right compared to the others and therefore offer better protection. Can you confirm?
The Toucans I feel have least bend…Sidi right behind…I have two pair and can’t go wrong with them..thanks!
Good review. I tried on my brother's tech III's the other day and i couldnt shift my transalp. Even with the side of the boot on the side of the shifter. We pulled out of the driveway and right back in. I need to get something like it though just not sure whats going to work for me
I had the gear shifts adjusted...you may want to do that with these boots...especially if you plan to ride off road...I took mine up a couple notches...good luck and thanks for watching!!!
None of these boots meets my requirements for an ADV boot.
It seems all boots labeled ADV do not have much protection. More of a street boot type of a taller boot but,...lacking.
Ankle protection is important for when the bike or saddle bags are on top of the foot, ankle area due to a tip over.
Many of riders have broken an ankle with these types of boots you reviewed. Metal saddle bags are a common crusher.
The Alpinestars Corozals look they might be OK also and are a bit taller than the AlpineStars Toucan Gor-Tex which is discontinued. But still lacking ankle support.
I see good feed backs and reviews of the ALPINESTARS XT-8 GORE-TEX BOOTS. But are pricey.
Maybe an Alpinstar Tech 3 or 5 enduro waterproof has more protection without breaking the bank. Or Sidi 2's.
Waterproof is also important for when on the roads, dirt, gravel and pavement when it is raining. I must for me.
Thanks, didn’t know I needed eight pairs of boots to ride.
well...you never know...and I've added a couple more...ha!!! - good to have options...but to many is a problem...thanks!
I'm looking at a pair of Form Adventure Low for some city, country road riding and am not sure about the size I should go for. I'm a 9 1/2 in mens US typically but that's right between sizes it seems so not sure to go up or down. Any help from experienced wearers would be great.
I'm a 12.5...and go to the 13....depending sock thickness etc...I would go up... Hope that helps...
@@lifesjourneyat50 ty for the reply!
Serious question: how in the world do you shift in these boots? I bought these Alpinestars boots for my KTM 890 adventure and literally missed every upshift. Got neutral at every takeoff and missed my shifts the entire ride. I can't feel the shifter and it's soo stiff now I have to move my entire leg off the peg, look down, and use the very edge of the boot to poorly shift. Context- I've ridden motorcycles for 2 decades, just never invested in these MX style boots. Sending them back
Did you adjust the shifter?…that could help….the MX style are difficult…takes a lot on the ankle and moving up and down…don’t give up it will come…and I agree missing the shift stink because you lose momentum…and thats hard…good luck!!!
Just ordered the formas
Awesome...they are a great boot...enjoy!!!
The Alpine Stars Tech7 WP is also a great boot, the gusset comes up higher too. I think I paid ~$450 for em. Very stiff and well protected boot, 4 straps.
Thanks - when I read their description it said water resistant not water proof....I'll have to go back a take a look....I am with you on the buckles...I like the more straps - feels more secure...thanks and as I said I'll double back...
@@lifesjourneyat50 They are called the Tech 7 Enduro Drystar
Yep. I bought a pair last year and have really liked them.
@@JoeWhipple DryStar….now you have my interest peeked
Alpinestars were my choice. No regrets.
Toucans or Corozal ?? is the Toucan worth the extra $ ?? the only 2 id look at , wearing Belize last 3 seasons so hey need replaced Tech 7 before that
They are for the waterproof and bomb proof....they've been Great!!!
@@lifesjourneyat50 worth the extra $ over the Corozal or Belize ?
@@justsomedude445 yes I would...the protection especially around the ankles...
@@lifesjourneyat50 thanks , the Toucans have been sitting in my shopping cart at Revzilla for a week or two now just havent pulled the trigger yet , im 55 and have broken both feet at diff times so i think the extra protection is worth it
Which is most flexiable for shifting
My Sidis are the best....then the Toucan, Forma and BMW
@@lifesjourneyat50 yea I ended up ordering the forma I think they are best for my riding style on a 2020 yz250F
@@aliennetwork08 They are a solid boot....love them...thanks for letting me know!!!!
How about the klim boots?
I didn't try them - felt they were a little like the FORMA and SIDI put together...I assume you have them...how are they? I will try to include maybe this year - thanks!
I came here to commend you on not having a set of klim in your video. I felt the toe box was ridiculously large. But to each their own.
I really like Klim gear, but the Klim boots have a toe that is way too big for me. I tried a pair on and sat on a Africa Twin. Couldn’t hardly get to the shifter. Klim boot is not for me, unless you ride the Honda AT with an automatic transmission.
No Gaerne Fastbacks ??
I can't afford them all...haha - I bought the ones that I thought were the most used in the ADV world...sorry - thanks!
@@mattmccourt3591 Believe me....I get it!!
Ah ah ah ah
ahhhhhhh......hmmmmmmmm.....mmmmmmmmmm! Jesus
Sorry that's really a pretty terrible review you can't reveal anything about the strength of the boot by squeezing them with your hands. For an ankle rest you need to try to bend them fold them over do they bend otherwise we're not learning anything about ankle protection The rest of the areas you covered reasonably well.
Fair enough...always good to get feedback...thanks!
why do adventure boots have to be so clunky and ugly?
Well....great question...I think safety over fashion...haha
Your giving bad advice
In what aspect....just curious as to context...thanks!
