    September 19th, 2021 at Orlando Speed World (1/4 mile NHRA dragstrip).
    Running on the stock Pirelli P Zero tires (19”).
    No Weight Removed! (Yet!)
    Race #, ET, MPH, 60-ft, 1/8th mi ET, 1/8mi MPH, Mode
    1: 9.267, 150.98, 1.491, 6.023, 121.39, Drag Strip + Launch Control
    2: 9.295, 150.73, 1.504, 6.051, 120.61, Drag Strip + Launch Control
    3: 9.279, 150.38, 1.488, 6.028, 120.79, Drag Strip + Launch Control
    Started with 98%, ended with 89% (used 9% or 3% average per run.)
    Note: All ET's easily beat the "Best Ever" time of the White Nitrous Redeye Challenger that we ran against two weeks earlier. (That 'driver' said that the 9.379 at 147.42 time slip was the "BEST EVER" time that his gutted car has ever run.) Same Track. Same Weather Conditions. But this time no "pretending" that the Tesla was "fully charged". (What kind of person would post that when they knew it wasn't true?) And no risk of damaging the car with too much NOS. (Has that car blown up yet? Someone implied that it has.)
    All runs were in “Drag Strip” Mode and used Launch Control.
    Note: ET’s always exclude Reaction Times! The time from Green Light to the finish line is the total of RT + ET. ET is the time from actually crossing the Start Line to crossing the Finish Line, irrespective of the driver's reaction to the light.

    Hi, love your videos! On the yoke, I'm on my 3rd Tesla, had an MS a few years ago, and drive my wife's MY-P some. The new 2021Plaid MS is my daily driver, and I've gotten pretty fond of the yoke and the controls on it, with some reservations as you noted about the horn. I've practiced a bit covering all the buttons on the right to honk, and it does work ok that way, but it isn't ideal. I don't miss the stalks though, I really like the turn signal location and other controls (horn excepted!).

    I am so happy to see you doing well and enjoying your Plaid and it is enjoying very much to see you doing so well to afford this great car. I am saving now to trade in a beautiful Jeep Cherokee Laredo Plus and getting a good trade on it plus a bunch of cash to get a nice model 3. I know these auto are superior to anything in my life time and will really enjoy this car and the experience. I can barely afford it right now but am saving additional cash just to stay above poverty but I am doing well for a partly disabled vet and still work at my 74 years of age. I have no complaints as I have everything I was born with which is more good fortune than many of my fellow brothers have had. I will love a new model 3 made in my favorite state in the world in Austin. I have a lovely 1923 street rod that I do not want to sell so the Jeep with short of 5,000 miles has to go and I will miss it a lot as it is a beautiful auto but I want the Tesla so after they do the newest models from TEXAS I will be ready with enough cash to buy it outright with no loan hopefully or at max a small loan. I have a good job part time in a language course and map & atlas company here in Spring Hill so it is nice to see a gentleman so close running a Plaid and I love to watch your way and what you do. I am waiting for the Texas made one with the new batteries and interior. These auto are magnificent as I have seen one one the way home a month ago. I do not go anywhere much so I am a home charger with electric at 10 cents per KWH including fuel charges so it is nothing to drive the car when needed. My trip to my office where I run computers and printers part time 3 days a week is a 13 mile round trip so I need a charge 1 or 2 times a week depending where errands take me to do. As I said, I love my Jeep at about 40 dollars a month for mid range priced gas, but the Tesla will cost pennies in the same time period not counting all the wear items on the Jeep. People do not realize, air & hepa filter, plugs, gas, oil & filter changes, brakes, transmission oil & filter change, and that is to beg nothing else goes wrong as well. Pcv Valves, and other tune up items, possible ignition wires. There are constant and many costs that even Tesla ads do not mention. Burning gas to get to the dealer and home, miles driven to the dealer and back home, more gas for that, waiting for the work to be done at the dealer. So I think of all these things and the cost in time spent and dollars is enormous!!! Right now I will get cash for my Jeep as it is showroom new condition and garage kept, not even a car door dent or mark on it at all. I can get $25,500 cash but that would make me pay full sales tax on a Tesla who would give me a trade in of $23,500 and that is no tax on half the model 3 then. So I hve to decide when TEXAS makes me a model 3. That is not bad for a 2020 with low milge in excellent condition but I could sell privately for a few grand more as it is a $35,000 Jeep but too much trouble with people taking it out for a drive. Let me know if anyone in your circle is interested in a 25 mpg and 34 on trips mpg Jeep with a v-6 and a real spare full size. I own it since brand new. I wish you continued good fortune in whatever you do for a living if work needs you, and keep this videos coming as I truly enjoy watch you and your great way towards others and your very decent attitude. After driving my MYLR for a couple months and watching your channel, you inspired me to take Racing Driver Training /Education with the local Porsche Club where a friend of mine runs the training programs. To that end, I ordered a Model Y Performance (2 days before the price hikes started!)

      There are lots of sites to advertise the car, but once the deal is made, meet them locally at a branch of THEIR bank or credit union. Have them see the car there. (I don’t even let them drive it, and that’s been fine for two previous Tesla sales.). If they like what they see, the bank makes the cashiers check out to you and then sign over the title. Safe and secure for everyone 👍

    It took me about a month to adjust to the yolk but once my brain knew where everything was located without having to think about it, I saw the brilliance in what Elon has created. It’s a brilliant design and is much better in so many ways. I wouldn’t want this car any other way now. When I drive my wife Model X, it feels old fashioned. Kinda like how it feels going back to an ice vehicle. You scratch your head remembering that we used to think they were so awesome. Then the Plaid. Its amazing to experience the creation of the smartest man on the planet. He doesn’t settle for good or even best. It has to be orders of magnitude better and the Plaid delivers. I’m always trying to come up with excuses to drive the car. And I hate to say it to all of the current P100D owners but that was my previous car and if I had to rate them side by side on a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give the Plaid an 11 and the P100D a 5. It was not a refresh, its a completely different car. They feel nothing alike. The plaid feels surreal, so well made, significantly better engineering and the car feels like it must be far more expensive. If you’re thinking about upgrading from a P100D, I’ll wager $1,000 that within 60 days of driving it exclusively, you will agree that you like the yoke better and the car so much more. Anyways. Enough.

  • @curtisbme
    @curtisbme Před 2 lety +1

    Main concern about that yoke for me is if you need to do some evasive maneuver suddenly (like for a road hazard or someone pulling out or perhaps slipping on ice), missing half the wheel means in that panicked moment you are trying to turn the wheel and you'll be grabbing for part of it that isn't there or is in a high or low spot. Seems very unsafe (as does making you have to look at the yoke to find the buttons).
