Im literally one the only boy in my textiles class, and im in love with my work so far, I got insporation but a lot of youtubers and i like ur GCSE work too!!👍👍😊
Also, the materials and crafts we use for GCSE textiles is mostly from poundland 😂😂 and trust me, it is sooo good With Those cheap products wish me luck im in yr10

I knew this looked familiar you must have gone to my school as we have all your work as examples in textiles!
in my school they wouldnt let me pick 2 art subjects because i wanted to pick art textiles ad art general but i couldnt

This is so helpful, at my school we choose 3 options (GCSE’s) but we don’t do them in year 10 and 11 we do one in year 9, one in year 10 and one in year 11. I’m in year 9 and doing textiles and am really stressed and didn’t think my work was up to standards and looming at yours has helped reassured me 👍🏻

Thankyou this was super helpful! I’m doing the same options as you haha so you’ll definitely be my go to when I start gsce. Also I have a question: if you opt for any type of clothing, does it have to be made to fit you? Or could you use one of those mannequins?
So glad you found it helpful!! And no you don't have to make it to fit you it can be made to fit someone else. I don't know if it's changed since I did it so you might want to check, but we were advised to make it to fit someone so we could then take photos of them wearing it to show it was wearable! x
Thank you so much! I'm deciding to pick textiles for my GSCEs but I'm worried about it because I'm not very good at drawing. Thanks to this my confidence has improved but quick question: Do you have to be good at drawing and colouring? Also is it better to supply your own equipment or is it better to use the schools?
The techniques to show which material it is, is important to get a higher grade so i'd say yes. Personally, think it's better to use your own equipment.

Awwh thank you so much I'm glad this video has helped you!! I would say that if you want to achieve top grades try and annotate as much as you can, as long as it's relevant!! The examiners will want to see that you have thought about your designs in detail, but remember to keep anything you write relevant xx
Also i follow aqa but we havent done anything like costing/quality control/comparing!!
Don't worry I'm sure every school has different ways of doing things and I'm sure your teacher is telling you all the right things you need to do in order to get the grade you want! x

It was everything I had done over the course of my gcse so both year 10 and 11 together. Although I redid most of my work from year 10 so it’s mostly stuff I did in year 11😂 thank you for watching! X

Awwh bless you you're so sweet! It may have changed a bit from when I did my GCSE Geography but I remember case studies being a big part of the topics, so make sure to learn some specific facts and figures, for example when a particular earthquake happened and how many people were injured etc. I found making posters for geography really useful as you can include diagrams and pictures as well xx

You have a nice, neat portfolio but I'm wondering why there's not much practical going on, and there's not much textile techniques presented or experimenting with material which is the whole purpose of textiles. Could you get an A* mostly from writing tons of paragraphs?
I didn't include all my practical work in my portfolio, throughout both years though I was practicing different techniques. Most of it is at school
Ohh I see. Though wouldn't it be best to have a portfolio to present to other people with your practical work? I don't think someone would want to read chunks of writing in a portfolio.

Well, I’m going into Year 10 and I picked Textiles for GCSE but they had to close the course because only 7 people picked it and I’m so pissed off! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
