    I have my art gcse mock tomorrow. I’m TERRIFIED. How do I calm down 😖
    (Update: Day1 Art Mock)
    So, I was SUPER anxious before the first exam. I have 2 and my second is tomorrow. I was so worried but as soon as I got into the art work I calmed down and enjoyed it. Day 2 is tomorrow and we’ll see how it goes. I’m definitely feeling calmer but I have to finish the whole piece by the end of the day so I’m a little worried about that but I’m sure I can do it!
    I’ll update you later :) ♥️
    (FINAL UPDATE: LAST MOCK)
    HEY! So the mock went fantastic. I had a few breakdowns during the process of creating the piece but in the end it turned out great and I’m so so proud! Hurray! Good luck to all of you with your art! 💓💓💓 xxx

    • @LiaSophie
      @LiaSophie  Před 4 lety +22

      Don’t be scared! Art can feel like it takes up a lot of your time but remember you don’t have a written exam for it like you will for other subjects. So whilst throughout the year you might spend more time on art, you don’t need to revise for it so it’s one less subject to worry about in the exam season! As long as you stay on track with what your teacher sets you will be fine xx

      Don’t be worried, everyone will be in the same boat! I have done a video called ‘how to get an A* in gcse art’ that’s in my art playlist that gives more of an idea of the kind of things you’ll probably do, so that might be worth a watch! It’s important to note that every school teaches art slightly differently so you might not necessarily do the same as what I did but hopefully it will help. I would say the best thing to practice is pencil drawings and anything else your teacher should teach you if you haven’t done it before. Good luck!! Xxx

      It may depend on which exam board you are on, but you shouldn't be limited to just clothing! A few people in my year made pillows! i love art and always have, but i’ve lost all confidence in my work bc of my teachers (for context, i’ve just finished year 11 and did gcse art, i’m doing a level art in college). when i picked art for my options there was this one teacher who tried to convince me not to take it for months, she said i “struggled with observational drawing”. then when i began the course i had the other art teacher, she was a bit better but she had her 2 favourites. she’d constantly throw their work in our faces and it’d make us all feel a bit like crap. whenever i’m drawing or doing anything art related i always have those girls work in the back of my mind and constantly compare myself to them. now im scared that im gonna get a grade 4 on results day bc that’s what the first teacher wants to give me, whereas the second teacher wants to give me a 6 or 7. i’ll update this comment on results day if i remember lol, sorry for the mega long message.

    i've taken GCSE art, however during quarantine (where i've had a lot of time) i haven't done a single piece of art, apart from the tasks given from school. even in the tasks given by school i didn't put muchh effort. i feel as i do best in art when there are other people around (a working environment). it's really making me confused and kinda worried if taking art was wise.

It’s great that you’ve at least tried to do the work set and hopefully when schools go back you’ll find your passion for it again and enjoy it! Hi would you recommend art AS level? I'm considering it because I've always loved art but not too sure. I have to choose 4 subjects so this would the one I would drop. Hoping it won't take up all my time. Also, I don't really paint people just landscapes really, does that really matter much? Thank you so much

    • @LiaSophie
      @LiaSophie  Před 3 lety

      Hi! I personally really enjoyed it, it's very similar to at GCSE but you have more lessons so the workload is more. It can be stressful at times along with other subjects but I found I always looked forward to my art lessons as they were different to my more academic ones and allowed me to be creative. It doesn't matter at all! You can definitely do landscapes x

    • @LiaSophie
      @LiaSophie  Před 4 lety +2

      I don't really think there's anything in particular you have to know but it would be worth just keep practicing what you do know! Every school teaches differently so what I did in my a level might be different to yours. I have filmed my a level art books if you'd like to look at those and if there's anything in there you haven't done then maybe practice that. I think being able to draw in pencil is quite a key skill and being able to find artists and write about their work xx

    Im really good at photography and would love to do sculptures and textile and graphic design, but I'm not that great at traditional art. Like my art teacher says my skills would suit a year 7 and not a year 9 (which is surprising cause I have never really done art). I love non-traditional art, but everyones portfolios are scaring me.. do you think I should take it? honestly.

    • @LiaSophie
      @LiaSophie  Před 3 lety +2

      I think if you really want to take it you shouldn’t let anyone stop you! However I don’t want you to be disappointed by what you learn as you might find there’s more of a focus on painting and drawing rather than the things you want to do. Every school is different so I would ask your teacher if you will have the chance to do sculptures and graphic design before you choose! X

      Art GCSE is a lot of work but if it's something you love then I would say go for it! Don't worry to much if you don't feel confident at the moment. As long as you're willing to put the effort in and practice a lot then I'm sure you will see an improvement! The exam may differ depending on your exam board (I was edexcel), but in my exam we had two days where we had to draw/paint a final piece that linked to out theme x

      Hi there, that's great that you want to do well that's always an amazing mindset to have! I wouldn't say it is a 'girls subject' at all, art is for everyone and anyone can enjoy it and be good at it! The great thing about art is that you have the freedom to paint and create whatever you want. There was a mixture of girls and boys both in my GCSE and A Level classes!

    What do you actually do in the art gcse do you get a topic x

    • @LiaSophie
      @LiaSophie  Před 3 lety +1

      It depends on what exam board you are on as each specification varies a bit, but generally, you will be given a broad topic and you work towards a final piece that links to that topic. So you might look at other artists work to get some ideas then take your own photos and work from those, and at the end of the year you’ll have an ‘exam’ where you spend a couple of days creating your final piece x
