Prostatic abscess- Infection & pus formation in prostate gland
When Prostatitis not treated with properly antibiotics the condition lead into Prostatic abscess (Collection of pus)
Post prostatic massage urine shows thread with mucous
Clinical features-
High grade fever with chills
Heaviness all over the body & Perineal pain
Urine disturbance- pus cell present in urine
Retention of urine
Rectal examination- Tender soft fluctuant swelling(due to pus)
Accumulation of pus into prostate gland
Investigation-
CBC
WBC count
Urine test- Pus cell present
USG
MRI
Treatment-
Hospitalization if needed
IV fluids
Pus aspiration (I&D)- transperineally in lithotomy position
Suprapubic cystostomy(infra-umbilical incision)- retention of urine
After drainage Antibiotics- 6 week
