    Let me know your expectations for the Sabres this off-season

    • @gootvansquid
      @gootvansquid Před 8 dny

      My hope is that aside from Joki Quinn and Bryson, they let everyone on the RFA/UFA list walk. A few of them I wouldn't be upset to see stay, but if they're smart they'll drop Olofsson, Girgensons (sorry Girgs i love you but just doesn't bring enough even on the 4th line) and Jost for sure.
      Bring up Matt Savoie if possible and pick up a 1st/2nd line forward and a big boy for the 4th line, both of whom need to be happy to HIT.
      The hope is that Ruff will bring in his hitting, physical play and aggressive/speed mentality to push this team to become more intense and difficult to play against. We really need to start hitting more. We have some big guys on the team who really don't do anywhere near as much with their size as they could be. I'm very optimistic about Thompson and Power, but have to criticize them for not running over the opposition as much as they could be.
      If the bring in a top 6 F, bottom 6 physical F, keep the D basically as is, re-sign UPL and Levi is ready, I fully expect a satisfying season and a long-overdue return to the playoffs. I doubt we make it through the 2nd round, but it's a start. If we get a NHL-ready Savoie, we could get a very pleasant surprise.

      Buffalo’s 2nd line has two 30 goal scorers and a guy that was injured but was projecting almost the same……I think there 2nd line is ok
      Buffalos top 4 might end up being the most expensive in the NHL…….they don’t need another top 4 defensemen

      @WideTier Před 13 dny +2

      Oh you mean a good talented young vet in the prime of his career that can score like…..Casey Middlestadt? 😂. Nah. No money for Casey. Just like there was no money for Sam Reinhart. So who do you have in mind that is worth the money for your 2nd line vet??

    • @danevertt3210
      @danevertt3210 Před 13 dny

      @@WideTier ummmm…….well they don’t need a second line vet. They have cozens, a 30 goal scorer, Peterka who is a 30 goal scorer, and Quinn…….who projected to be a 30 goal scorer without both of his injuries
      Seems like you don’t really follow Buffalo

    • @WideTier
      @WideTier Před 12 dny +1

      @@danevertt3210 I don’t follow the Buffalo Sabres? That’s hilarious. I asked a previous poster who HE thought the Sabres needed as their 2nd line veteran who can score. He was the one who claimed they needed one. Personally, I’m not impressed with any of the Sabres top 6, considering how all but Peterka regressed this past season. I’m happy Adams & Pegula brought Ruff back. If Lindy can’t get these talented lazy players back into the playoffs this coming season then Pegula will need to fire Adams and blow it all up again. But what the heck. Casey scored one last night to help the Avs stave off elimination and Sam & the Panthers are still alive so maybe one of them will win the Cup this season to join O’Reilly and Eichel.

    I might have missed it but Buffalo has a huge top tier prospect pool;
    Rosen (1st rd)
    Ostlund (1st rd)
    Kulich (1st rd)
    Savoie (1st rd)
    Walhberg (2nd)
    Poltapov (2nd)
    Kisakov (2nd)
    Strbak (2nd)
    That’s a lot of trade value. Package a prospect with #11 overall and trade for a top line forward

    NO THANKS TO PATRICK KANE! Adams said in the season end presser that the Sabres need a veteran 3rd line centre ( will Adams trade the 11th overall pick plus a prospect to get one?? ) and some abrassiveness and grit for the bottom 6 forward group. UFA wingers Ryan Lomberg FLA or Dakota Joshua Vancouver would look good on the 4th line Krebs and Greenway.
    Lets hope Adams sticks to his word.
    Of the Sabres UFAs id only bring back Eric Robinson as a spare forward . And I would try and trade Jokiharju along with the 11th pick in the draft for a centre. Dont think Quinn is RFA until next season? . Signing UPL long term and bringing up Levi to Buffalo next season but signing a veteran goalie like Martin Jones for Rochester .
    Thanks for the video.

    1. Quinn is not. RFA, he has one more year. Krebs is a RFA. (No guarantee he’s back)
    2. 13 are signed for starting line-up (8 fwd and 5 def). If you count Levi than 14 of 20 spots are filled.
    3. Injuries played a part in the inconsistency. Quinn in limited time was on pace for 25-30 goals. He was replaced with Olofsson, host, and Robinson (dramatic drop off of production). Tage came back early from an upper body injury and had a back problem in the middle of year. Cozens got his bell rang against Philly and wasn’t the same player after.
    4. Sabres have a prospect problem. They have 4-5 prospects ready or close to being ready for NHL (kulich, Rosen, savoie, ostland, rouesk (not counting Johnson (def) or Levi (goalie). It would be better to package 1-2 of these players for a top 6 player vs trading 11th pick. You still have a 3 year window with that pick to replenish current prospects on their way out.
    5. Big question: what to do with skinner? Buy-out vs keep on team? 6 year commitment if you buy out this year with 6 million in dead cap space next season

    I'm not saying Kane will stay in Det, but it is up to the years Stevie wants to offer in the contract. He might not offer more than 2 years, thinking Kane walks. Having said that, Buffalo? No.
    He's looking for 3-4 year contract on a cup contender if not staying with Det. I see Det possibly taking a step back, if, we bring up prospects waiting in G.R. It's what's best for the future.

  • @ravensshadow2179
    @ravensshadow2179 Před 13 dny

    Part of the reasons they regressed from the the previous season is most of the players had a record year. Tuch or Dahlin will be the captain next year unless they bring in a big name I can only see them bring back 3 RFA and one UFA.

  • @jasonbornne7767
    @jasonbornne7767 Před 13 dny

    Anytime Ruff has failed it’s because of an insane amount of injuries to his team. ‘06-‘07 and ‘22-‘23 especially. Next year is Buffalo’s year. Yes, I know. I’ve been saying this for the past 13 years. Look for them to get Skinner going defensively and bolstering the bottom 6. Maybe they bring in a young guy from Rochester.

    Don't like the new hire for Coach, think it will be a ruff season ahead for them. Sabres need another D minded defenceman, a good quality goalie with experience, and more physicality up front. In a tough Atlantic Division, I don't see the playoff drought ending just yet. Thompson, Cousins, and Skinner have to get their butts back into higher gear. Next Captain... hmmm,, Tuch or Dahlen? Wear the black, red and white jerseys instead. That obviously is the key to all of it.

    Skinner is a bigger story. He needs to be bought out. Zemgus needs to go. He needed to go last year. No mention of the scroll of prospects as currency for trades. And another goalie to send Levi down another seaaon is not going to happen. I was not a fan of Kane last season but I would explore what he wants. We desperately need some veteran depth in the lineup that can score goals and be a voice in the room, at practice, team meals and beer breaks. Will he have a bit more incentive because it's his hometown? The next captain will be (should be) Tuch or Dahlin. Let Thompson worry about finding his game again.
