- The Colorado Avalanche might not have had the lead after the first period, but you got the sense that if they kept up that style of play, things would work in their favor. Boy did they.
The Avs found the net five times in the second, and then put the car in cruise control for the 3rd to complete a pretty convincing and dominant win over the Calgary Flames, 6-2.

Calgary's goalie was outstanding in the first period - we had, what, 17 shots? - but when the Avs stars are clicking, there's no stopping them. He was not going to withstand such an onslaught all night. It was great to see the Avs take it to them with the attitude they needed for a game like this.
Val has already demonstrated how vital he is to this team. He looks rejuvenated just like Girard did - dare we say the player assistance program actually works?
Annunen looks good. Definitely got worried when he let in two quick ones, but he composed himself and hey look at what a difference tight defense in front of the goalie can make.
It was great to see all the new guys jumping up into the action and showing their stuff. Road Trip Bonding may be exactly what they need to gel! I'm excited for this final push. How they perform against Vancouver tonight will be telling.
Yeah it’s nice to see the Avs knock down a hot goalie for once lol
I did also notice the higher faceoff percentage and also the increased hits. Great game all around. The new guys are already fitting in well.
It’s a wonderful feeling
Nice to see MN native Middlestat get one! MN AVS fan here. Hoping to see a world where I can go to an Avs playoff game here in MN!
But that would mean Minnesota is.....good. Do we want that???
@@LockedOnAvalanche right, that could come back to bite me!! 🤣
I will not endorse anything Wild, unless it helps you see the Avs, then I will lol
I grew up in MN but moved to Denver 20 years ago. Always like seeing the MN boys thriving in the NHL. When we lost hockey after the North Stars were shipped out (F Norm Green), I started watching the Avs and although I was still in MN a few years after the Wild came into the league, never really bonded with that team and was an easy transition once I moved to Denver.
So far the trade seems to have worked out for both the avs and Buffalo. Bryam was an instant upgrade, and mitts seems to be getting up to speed. I'm excited to see him get settled in
I agree both teams improved after these moves and you like to see that
Go Shaggy!! Quitting smoking is hard as shit but it SO WORTH IT. Nicotine turns you into such a slave to it and it completely dominates your thinking in so many ways. Being free of it myself now for over 11 years I can say that quitting was the best thing I have ever done for myself. And remember quitting is a process, you may falter but keep at it!
This has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done but this is week one of forever…thank you for the kind words
Walker and Duhaime were noticeable last night. Good to see. Duhaime had a couple of great shots on net last night, but also great pressure on the forecheck keeping possession. Would like to see if this continues against tougher opponents. Vancouver and Edmonton should be good tests. Do you think Nazem felt a little regret, wishing he was playing on the other side last night? I miss that guy.
He might have until he looked at his bank account, then he realized he’s fine lol
I totally understand why Philly fans wanted to resign walker instead of trade him, he’s fit in so well in his first 2 games and reminds me a ton of Devon toews, hopefully we can somehow find a way to keep him this offseason
He really does fit an avalanche mold.
If you had told me a week ago that LOC would be out with a hip surgery and the fourth line would look great against Calgary I would have been real dubious. Loved this game.
Next man up situation.
Play like that, win cup. Rinse, repeat.
Agreed
@@shaggyvondoom Didn’t need 250 words to lay that out, LOL 😂
@@thenextgreat8652 I was thinking the same thing 😂😂😂
i noticed we were winning draws more often , but dam over 63% i dont think we have had a game all year that weve been over sheesh 56% noice :)
It’s a nice stat to have for once lol
I don't think we've had a stat that good in like 5 years lol
Is Nuke the most under rated player in the league? Seriously the dude may be better than Mark Stone at this point and yet no one mentions him among the best defensive/two way forwards in the league.
Never mind i posted this before Shaggy said this exact thing lol
That's a fact 🗣️
100%
I couldn't agree more. Our team goes from a 2nd round exit team to a Stanley cup team with him in the line up. He's such a difference maker on every level.
He 100% is. He does everything for this team other than play goaltender, at such a high level too. It's almost hard to describe how good he is on this team. Two games back and he has already made a huge impact in those two games. I hope for his sake that he has been able to work on his mental health and is able to be the best version of a father, husband, and player that he can be.
Absolutely but one correction. Nuke IS better than Mark Stone and I don’t think it’s particularly close.
I'm with you guys, Walker seems to have a home with the Avs. (Why do the Philly trades seem to always work for Colorado?)😂 Good to see the new additions paying off and settling in seamless.
Sound check: Another David Bowie song, Cat People (Putting out the fire with Gasoline).
Yesssss I almost went with that one toooooo
i was pretty impressed with the new guys after game 1 alot of hustle good chances , now after game 2 yea im all in lol wouldnt of seen ryjo speed and cut threw the d men and score lmao, all these players seem like the speed of our team is where they needed to be the whole time in the nhl ,no trouble keeping up at all , loving it
Build on that effort and this team is going places
Can’t wait for today when you guys talk about the comeback in Vancouver last night! I wasn’t privy to it as I turned the game off when Vancouver made it 3-0 (to be fair I live in the east coast)
Edit: no show today (thursday)? Boooooo
Um am I the only one that got the imagine of the game 5 OT winner with that middelstadt goal?
Yeah, that’ll work.
Done and done lol
Congratulations on getting off the evil tobacco, Kyle! How did you do it, sheer willpower or NRT?
Thank you very much, just scaled down and pulled the plug cold turkey.
It is true that Avas doesn't play a physical before it becomes an all-out race with defensemen. Now it's still that, but you have D-man peeking over their shoulder and losing just enough position where you're on the right side of 50-50 pucks. Even if it's just a few guys like Duhaime, the opponents' defense don't have time to check cause they do they lose the race anyway, cause every burgundy shirt comes with speed.
Trenin tried lol! It’s the effort that counts!
Despite the two good Avalanche periods, Calgary cannot be the measuring stick for how good your team is. We'll see tonight and then later in this trip in Edmonton where the Avs stand.
Somebody help Mr. von doom out with some better Internet
Hey some may enjoy not seeing my face lol
Imagine if Mikko comes on hard at the end of the season, finishes on top of the leader board for points, and never got into the foolish Allstar game. Such an inclusive league......
