- If you saw the last vlog on our A5 project ( • Did we just build a 50... ) we had just broken the 500bhp barrier with diesel only!
Obviously we couldn't just leave it there, so before refitting the GTB2566VK ready for the competition winner, we took it out on the road for a test drive and stopped by a local private road for some testing!

Holy shit dude that's faster than the s5 for sure and probably just as quick to 60 as the current rs5 and that's a huge statement to show how good your work is, I've been following the development uploads of this series and I have been very impressed with your open attitude and your honesty, no inflated figures in your claims and you back them up with the evidence of your claims with videos like this, kudos from a company that also does custom software development work on bmw and audi so we appreciate how much you are doing especially with this model. Suprised that 0b5 gearbox is holding up well. They are usually prone to circuit board failure

What’s the driving experience like on the twisty stuff with it being a comparatively low revving diesel? Or is this all about straight line speed?
Jabber 1974 if you can keep it above 2k rpm then it’ll stay in boost. That’s what I gather.
Gears are longer and more torque so it's faster! This turbo is a little too large for a tight track
What kind of mg/stroke fueling you had to use on this to get 507hp?
I'd have to check but 130 maybe?

Which dieselmotor from vag do you recommend for tuning? And where does the bmw m57 engine stands compared to that engine?
I know bmw are complicated cars with a lot of random issues, but I hear a lot of high milaege/high horsepower m57’s without any problems
M57s with a real 400hp dont happen often, N47 maybe, we tune a lot of the 2010-2014 Audi A4/5's to that. They seem reliable too.

Wicked car and project but a 335d xdrive mapped will do a quarter mile in 12 seconds with 390HP. Wonder whats holding this a5 back?

Pretty much, we had an A6 in last week that made 360's and will do 400+ with injectors

I'd be interested to know this aswell, found plenty of modified S5 for sale with same bhp for arround £8500-£10500, one did 1/4mile in 12.18 @ 122mph

What adjustments does the transmission have??
It's in the spec. Custom remap and external oil cooler

Clutch has done almost 110k miles
At 600ft/lbs it is happy. Much above that it slips

@@ryanp6138 yeah that's true. Also an update on my side: I just wrecked my A5 this morning which was still worth approximately 26k €. Insurance will take care of it but now I don't have a car and really hope that I can win it haha 😂

My dad new a boy with an old merc e300 I think it was mapped out with a scania turbo on it nothing could catch this ting
Why not have a sequential turbo charger setup with a smaller turbo to spool at low revs to alleviate some of the lag and get more low down torque
Complexity,cost,under bonnet space would be my guess
Sequential is a pain in the ass for people to make. Typically it's oems because they can cast the piece. What would be better because it's a diesel is a compound setup. Maybe run a big vortech blower into the turbo. That's probably the only chance they have considering space limitations
Nitrous would be cheaper easier and more effective
That's just 0.3 seconds slower than my MRC stage 2 S4, that's one fast diesel
Scott Quattro probably gets 3x the mpg as well

I've got both engines, tuned, although the TDi is stage 1 and the TFSI is stage 2. Hands down I prefer the TFSI.

Gedas Alekveravičius it wouldn't spin up until 4500+ rpm. Turbos are matched with the engine's base airflow and a 3 litre engine has one and a half time more displacement as a 2 liter. This means at the airflow is one and a half time as big too.
So theoretically, the 2 litre engine needs 1.5 times the revs to flow as much as a 3 litre does. This means the 2L requires to rev up to 7500 rpm to match the 3L flow at 5000 rpm. The problem is the combustion speed caps the maximum power. So at 7500 rpm you can't make more power than at 5000 rpm.
This is were the sequential setup helps. If you put a second turbo in between the big one and the engine, the second turbo increases the flow, which means to the big turbo sees a bigger flow and gets a better match
This would spool better than the S300v we have on the arosa
