In US news and current events today, this LGBTQ Pride Month 2020, we celebrate 2020 Pride Month by honoring the trailblazers who fought for LGBTQ+ rights and LGBT rights all around the world. We take some LGBTQ rights for granted here in America, even though we still have much progress to make. The Catholic Church has not been the friendliest place to LGBTQ+ people, and religion in general has long been at odds with the LGBTQ community. However, that can change. This Jesuit Priest has been advocating for LGBTQ+ acceptance within Catholicism for some time, because religion should be no place for intolerance and hate. The Catholic Church is an ancient institution that is very slow to change, but with advocates like James Martin on the side of justice, the reform Catholicism movement may create a better church that is accepting of all.

When I was growing up in the Catholic Church, it was priests like this that kept me from falling into a pit of despair and killing myself. I remember the first time I was accepted by a faith leader for who I was.. I cried because I’ve never felt that type of unconditional love before. That love reminded me of what I used to imagine Jesus’ love was supposed to feel like every night that I prayed to him.
That is true Christianity. Never did I question myself until people started to tell me that Jesus and God somehow hated me. These compassionate gestures of love and acceptance-no matter how simple-means so much more to these young, struggling souls than anyone else outside of the community will ever realize.

@Tony B Why should Beige change the words to soften the blow? If such statements were made then that is what she should document in clear, unambiguous language. Are you suggesting she lied or are you applying the subtle art of persuasion to pull focus from the pejorative language of some hate filled individuals? Are you trying to make her feel guilty for suggesting that she is simply adding to a discourse that abhors the Catholic church? There is something distasteful in your rhetoric, Sir. Please don't ask her to change her wording to suit your narrative. By all means, you are free to ask her if she is sure but leave it there. Instead, you positively assert that she is reproducing statements incorrectly in your closing lines! Gaslighting a sensitive young woman. I am not attempting to encourage the denigration of Catholicism (or any other religion) here. Just, let the truth speak for itself. Then we can honestly discuss the broader context.

The Bible's have been translated repeatedly and word's have been added and subtracted from the word of God in the Bible's. The word's of God has been changed from his original living word's in the past. Humanity has done this. God's real name isn't in the English Bible's and Jesus's real name isn't in the English Bible's. Do any of you realize how many changes there has been from the past to the present. The word Homosexual was never in the original word of God. It turns out that the ancient world condoned and encouraged a system whereby young boys (8-12 years old) were coupled by older men. Ancient Greek documents show us how even parents utilized this abusive system to help their sons advance in society. So for most of history, most translations thought these verses were obviously referring the pederasty, not homosexuality! So for most of history, most translations thought these verses were obviously referring the pederasty, not homosexuality!Homosexual was added later translated from a word in German word that meant pedophilia. If you look those up they means pederasty, or knabenschander, (boy molester, in German.) Through all the translations words and meanings have been changed. This was never supposed to happen. It has happened. The son of God's real name wasn't Jesus. God's real name isn't in the English Bible's either.
The real name of God is Yahua and the real name of Jesus is Yahusha.

The real question is can Christians be welcoming without having to affirm their lifestyle? Jesus welcomed everyone, regardless of where they were at in their life, but did he affirm everyone’s lifestyle choices and encourage them to stay where they were at? Absolutely not! His entire message is about repentance and dying to ourselves and leaving our old life for something newer and better!

I'm not Catholic and frankly there have been some issues-, Catholics not always being open minded towards the LGBTQ community being one of them- that have led me to disagree with the Catholic church on several stances. But I will say I give kudos to this guy for preaching open mindedness and acceptance for people that are terrified of being rejected for who they are.

*Thank you, Mr. Martin (sorry for no calling you Father Martin as I am not a Catholic). May the God, the One who taught us love and compassion though the life of Jesus, shield you from harm and guide you in Light and Peace.*

If you truly believe that the Bible is the word of God, please read in the new Testament 1 Corinthians 6:9,10.

I expected it to be something about Inclusion but when I read it i was disapointed. But keep in mind that the new Testament was written hundreds of years after Jesus lived and I hears a quote once that I truly believe "God did not create Man in His image, but Man created God in his image" - I dont know who said it though

Thoughts for 1000 there are prominent religions out there that teach obedience is not necessary for salvation. This kind of thinking has lead billions the wrong way. Please read John 14:15.

As long as he promotes their personal dignity and not their lifestyle choices, he is doing that which honors Christ. If he doesn’t, he would be lying to them.

Aren't pedophiles also marginalized? If we should stand up for all marginalized groups, why not stand up for them? Is there any depravity we shouldn't embrace?
