Let's explore ST ABBS, DUNBAR and HADDINGTON, Scotland! | seaside day trip from Edinburgh

  • Last weekend we finally got a little hint of springy sunny weather so we've decided to pop out and visit New Asgard (AKA St Abbs) in the Scottish Borders! At this point we have probably seen all of the Edinburgh-based Marvel shoot location, so it was time to explore beyond the city's border!
    And while we were at it, we have also visited on of Scotland's best bakeries / cafes : Falko in Haddington! If you're "a continental" as I like to call us European expats in UK, you really shouldn't miss their gateaus and other treats.
    And also Dunbar! Wish I had more time to explore the birthplace of John Muir - maybe in the future I will make a video dedicated just to him, as I definitely believe he deserves it! For now we have at least has a little mooch around Dunbar's coastline and high street!
    How did you enjoy our day trip around Scotland? Where would you like us to take you next? I'd love to hear what you think!

    Haha, you should have popped in for a coffee, I'm in Haddington :-) My flat is about a minute from St Mary's the Church haha. Love falko's, I always go for the Schweiss nuss torte or if they don't have them the Linzertorte. Also, at 1.25 the garden on the corner with the small hedge above the wall is one of my gardens (I'm a gardener) have trimmed that hedge too many times....

    Thanks for another lovely video! We rented an airbnb flat for the month of June so I’m very interested in day trips from Edinburgh! Please keep them coming! 😅

    Fun fact, St Abbs is very popular with scuba divers as there's a spectacular underwater double arch a short distance from the harbour breakwater.

    This is so beautiful. And I so relate to wearing ear muffs. Wind and cold give my ears a pain, too.

    Haha! Love the reference to that terrible Christmas movie that I still watched because I will put up with anything filmed in Scotland.
    Can’t wait to visit all these places and thank you for the bus info! I always need that and it can be hard to find.

      Yeah same here - how much time have I wasted on watching all the Princess Switches just so I can spot some good Edinburgh locations!! .D

    I went to Haddington the other week and was looking forward to visiting Falko but unfortunately we went on a Monday and it was closed. Seeing this has made me really want to go! Especially if we get weather like you had.

    Ideas for more East Lothian adventures pastries and sausage rolls at Bostock in East Linton, surf lesson at Belhaven bay, walks on the beach at Yellowcraigs, dinner at fancy lunch at Osteria in North Berwick

    @aldworth33 Před 2 lety

    I would highly recommend Yellowcraigs beach in East Lothian it was where I used to go when I lived in Edinburgh and Dalkeith, it's lovely, it has an island with a lighthouse opposite and normally its not too crowded

      @@Kakibot it's is really lovely and that's coming from someone who grew up in Northumberland surrounded by amazing beaches 🤣 I'd recommend going for a walk around Roslin Glen also I proposed to my Mrs there a few years ago, the castle and chapel are also worth a look

    I've never been to Haddington, but I have a friend who lives there...She has never mentioned that there is a Germany bakery there! Now I have 2 reasons to visit Haddington 😂

    This is totally unrelated but can you hear the one o’clock gun from Victoria Street?

    • @Kakibot
      @Kakibot  Před 2 lety +1

      Hmmm... I always remember hearing it from Princes street area - so I'd say it's more audible in that direction (and of course right around the castle) but based purely on the short distance of Victoria street from the castle my guess would be you will hear it there too!
