    Note to Canadians: buy a Canadian National Trust membership, you can use it in the UK and it’s cheaper than the UK card.
    I travel a lot and always go out at lunchtime, not dinner because the price is so much less.

    I would suggest Greggs or tescos meal deal rather than Costa or Starbucks. Definetely better quality in an affordable price

    • @Kakibot
      @Kakibot  Před 10 měsíci

      This video only points out that coffee chains offer heavy discounts through the TooGoodToGo app (2 sandwiches+2 cakes or more for about £3.50) ! Although Greggs are available on there as well, so if that's someone's preference, they should give it a go .)

    I used to be majorly budget oriented and one thing I used to do to save money (again it's pretty obvious) but use the library instead of buying books. You can search the entire Edinburgh libraries catalogue online and reserve books and it only costs 50p and they have most books!

    • @Kakibot
      @Kakibot  Před 2 lety +1

      That's a great tip! I was actually really surprised by how much people forget about libraries here. Will give it a look myself! .)

    Don't tell anyone, but every year there is a "doors open day" at Edinburgh castle. Not sure what day this year is.
    Also I think it includes all Historic Scotland properties.
    Do you think this is enough to make me "comment famous" and do I get a plaque ?

    • @Kakibot
      @Kakibot  Před 2 lety

      Ooooh interesting - will need to look into that. I just know that certain museums (or.. museum-like spots) that fall under the Edinburgh University have a specific day when they are open to the public! (Should probably look that up too >.>)
      Your commenter plaque is on its way to you! .D

    But how does it work???!!!

    About Costa paninis - you don't need a panini press, put them in the oven for around 10 minutes, between 150 till 180 degrees and they should be as good as from Costa. Temperatures and times may vary, depending on previous tenants and the quality of your (landlords) oven but generally if its golden brown on the outside, it means it should be good to go :) (from ex-costa employee)

    These are great tips! Edinburgh is expensive, especially as someone coming from a country where our dollar is weaker. But it’s a beautiful city!

    • @Kakibot
      @Kakibot  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes it does often feel like one's paying premium for being surrounded by so much prettiness - at least it's not one of the large cities where you pay extra just because there's so much business going on which most people don't even have anything to do with!

    Thanks for the amazing video! I hat the historic Scotland membership when I came to live in Edinburgh for a year, and it was amazing. I never visited so many castles! Plus they send you quarterly magazines about their works and events that are pretty cool :-)

    Everyone loves a bargain ! , thanks for these ideas to save money especially with the price of electricity , gas and fuel going up so much. My top tip is a coupon in the free Metro newspaper this Thursday & Friday ( available just around the corner from you at Haymarket station ! ) giving £10 off a £40 shop ( 25% off ! ) at Lidl , valid until Wednesday 15th. Wishing you and Simon a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ! :-)
