I visited 2024 Busan International Mobility Show the day after to test drive INSTER indoors!
Just when I thought I had thoroughly reviewed the INSTER, I was blown away by the combination of its second-row seating, trunk capacity, and test drive performance.

Hyundai's INSTER, also known as the CASPER Electric, has had its official price revealed for the Korean market today:
After all available government credits, subsidies, and discounts, the price ranges from:
✅ a minimum of $14,500 USD to
✅ a maximum of $18,000 USD.
Note: The price will vary depending on the market.
This information is specifically for the domestic Korean price to give you an idea of the pricing structure.
A test drive video of the INSTER is coming soon.
Let me know in the comment below if the Google Translate didn't work properly on the image.
Bring this to America. It would shut up all of the people that say electric cars are too expensive!
Markups: Bonjour
Nope this is puny even smaller than my 2018 fiesta se beater is! That compact b segment doesn't sell well at ALL here in the U.S.
Just 6-8% of the total annual sales. And you need volume to make sheap small cars work.
Also the chevy bolt was just as cheap or CHEAPER with ev credits and didn't sell well with more space, more POWER and more range! 😀
@@4literv6 in US the Cars has to have better airbag because in some states people are dumb because not use belts... What a mess of country
Detroit would lobby congress to put a tariff on it like the Chinese ones
We already had the Chevy Bolt, and look at all the used EVs that have seen significant value drops. We already have cheap EVs. And people still think they're too expensive.
Thank you for showing us a bit more of this car, i cant wait to see this in person when they bring it to the uk. Cheers x
What a scoop 😯👍😎 If you also write Inster in the title this video would catch the attention of even more viewers... This car will be a hit...
Can't believe I missed that out 😭Thanks, it's updated!
Tesla, Geely etc take a close look how to design a proper driver interface even in a low cost EV.. Keep it up Hyundai and Kia.
@@chasf3433 problem is that Americans don't want micro weenie cars. That said, I am waiting for aptera or hoping Tesla makes a model 2. I don't trust Hyundai or Kia because they are notorious with blown engines and crap service.
did geely hurt you lol
🇺🇸 Bring it to the USA❗️
We need this in the USA!
Chevy Bolt didn't do well.. not sure if Hyundai will take the risk
@aoh4905 Yeah, but the bolt is ugly and kind of embarrassing to be in but this one seems different.
1st comment hehe from Malaysia. Very interested in hyundai EV product
I did follow you a fair while ago, when I decided to buy an IONIQ 5... Didn't watch many videos afterwards. Quality of your videos and especially your English has improved soon much, really great progress. Will definitely recommend!
Thanks 🙌 How do you like the IONIQ 5?
@@CarSceneKorea loving it. It’s „only“ the 2021 RWD big battery version but does the job very well. Of course there is room for improvement, especially for newcomers and people not as interested in EVs like the poor route/charging planning or the big difference in estimated and actual range when on the motorway (Germany) - I feel like the system struggles here a lot. Constant sound feedback is also not for everyone (beep beep beep…) it’s comfy and roomy and traveling is nice, also with family or a lot of luggage. Fits a lot and handles really well for its size in my opinion.
Haven’t been considering a change thus far, overall had just one big problem with the 12V battery which was obviously not a secret. The ev6 and ioniq5 before September of last year (almost?) all had it… long story short: I am happy and can still recommend it, especially because there is literally no compromise for a reasonable price tag
Thanks for sharing, except for those things that are shared upon all EVs, seems like most of the IONIQ 5 (EV6) owners are greatly satisfied with the car, including my friend's parents whom I've convinced to get the IONQ 5 as their first EV. IONIQ 5 PE did get some improvement, but none of which you've listed unfortunately. Can't wait for the next all-new model!
I'm happy this will come as Inster to Europe as well. Make small cars great again! Well done, Hyundai!
Awesome preview of an awesome car, thanks alot! I want one!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you for showing us more. Can't wait to see you test drive it. And cant wait until it comes to Ireland.
can't wait for the test drive video to come out.
I am definitely driving this car around!

what a good introduce~~~ thank you for your effort.
Much appreciated :)
Now that is interesting! Very nice to be able to fold de front seats so you can car sleep. Well done and bravo!
This looks crazy good. Can't wait to see it in person
You will love it even more!
Looking forward to you getting it out on the road😀
Will do asap!
cant wait to see this car in the UK. game changer. having all the safety tech in A segment, love it.
Agreed! 💯
Good review.
Might buy one in Australia if it comes here!
Thanks 🙌
I'm waiting for the Australian delivered Baojun/Wuling Cloud.
Indonesia definitely needs this model, gonna be a hit. Especially since we have the battery manufacturer.
Casper looks like a great around-town urban warrior.
Indeed, having driven the ICE model myself.
There is no need for warfare around town or anywhere else on the road, so no need for a warrior.
Great car! 😍😍😍
Looks awesome, loving all these small city electric cars that are on the affordable side. I think they should just keep the Casper name, sounds better than Inster.
I really want one. Can't wait to drive it. But I could not decide for a color yet. The silver looks very nice. But also the orange, it's fresh. I wish it would be a lighter green available.
Aero Silver Matte, my personal favorite 😍
عالی❤
Bring it to the US, take my money !
Probably won't see this in the US until next year at the earliest, but I'm excited nonetheless!
I can see how they have extended the wheel base which combined with the additional height results in the additional storage options, legroom and increased comfort for the rear passengers on longer journeys. Also Really like the design of the front seats with the integrated cup holders.
Right on!
I love those small suv. I hope it´s not expensive when it gets to europe... Hoping...
When Rivian revealed the R3, everyone went wild. There is definitely a market and demand in the US for cheap compact EV's or just compact vehicles in general.
Sure hope to see this hit the soil of the United States.
bro... you already .... broooo... thank you :D
Welcome 👍
Love what Hyundai is doing for the EV market. The inster looks insanely practical. 👍
It really is!
This could be a perfect urban city car.
Imma buy one of these so I can do a review of the back seat.
Nice BEV-car!)
That would sell big in the US depending on its range. If it can get 250 miles and its marketed correctly for the segment of car buyers that don't plan to road trip much, it'll go.
Judging by how Hyundai & Kia EVs were, I'd say it won't be impossible to get the 250 miles from time to time when conditions are met :)
Great second car, or only car and rental for long trips.
they quote 250miles and it for sure gives 150 in real world. this is the fact with all other vehicles.
Interesting observation, the yellow model you drove has even ventilated front seats. How cool to see in that class. Together with that 2nd row versatility makes it hopefully sell like hot cakes.
Indeed, sure do hope it'd be included for rest of the world too.
seems better than any byd or geely well done
Now the Inster is buying also in Europe, the intressant thing is the long wheelbase
I'm disappointed getting NCM batteries, really expected LFP.
Nice review, great car for certain markets.
On a separate note, do you know why the Ioniq 7 (9) has been delayed till end of 2024?
Nothing is official from Hyundai, but the delay won’t go in vain.
sorry if i miss this, but how far the travel range was?
What happened to the white interior and the houndstooth seats?!? Dang, why must everything be GRAY.
Is korea running into ant if the Gameboy/ioniq issues?
Well made and likeable video 👍 I really like this little Casper! However, I'm curious about the headroom and legroom for the driver. I am 196 cm tall (with heels). A body length of over 190 cm is not uncommon for Europeans. Has anyone tested whether people of this height can drive this car - and especially over a slightly longer distance, without pain in the back, head and neck. A height-adjustable steering wheel (?) would also be a plus.
Bargain ❤😊
nicee
🙌
The space in this car is crazy, you can have a 190cm driver and a 190cm passenger behind them no problem.
Indeed.
So amazing! To bad we will never get it in America! 😭😭😭
Hope Hyundai USA is reading the comments 😭
Would have prefer LFP battery over the NCM battery. Longer life and safer from fire risk.
So this is basically an electric Venue with their older digital display. Use those parts 😉
They really should bring this to North America. We need more affordable options.
Quite the difference bw Venue and ICE Casper when comparing the two in person, Venue was quite bigger than Casper for sure.
Are there reasonable spaces in the front and back for people 175-180 cm tall, also in terms of legroom?.
The reviewer in this YT preview is 6’6” (198cm) and has plenty of headroom and legroom, even sitting behind the driver seat set up for himself:

-Good.👍🏻👌🏼😉
I wish i could get this in the US the price is so good and i actually like the size
I think a car like this would become kind of like a trendy thing here I the US.
I really wish the same. Not always about big cars when it comes to the US.
It's unfortunate this won't make it to the States. Americans like bigger vehicles which would be my guess why it won't make it here but I hope Hyundai develops a cheap EV like this for us because the design inside and out works. It's not too futuristic looking, but has all the bells and whistles. At this moment we only have the Kona and Ioniq 5 but with government mandating EVs, I think more models will need to be had.
Indeed. Sure do hope the day would come - soon.
Hyundai, please bring Casper, the fuel version, to the whole world!
Interesting, it has the same steering wheel and switches like my Ioniq 6.
Is it confirmed that they are using an NCM-Battery?
@@Julia-hf9ykHLI (Hyundai-LG-Indonesia) battery factory was built a while ago and Casper is equipped with NCM batteries that are produced there.
So the price seems to have gone down as well, Indonesia is one of the largest nickel-lithium deposits in the world.
@@Julia-hf9yk yes
Yes, confirmed by Hyundai, but the review I do is based on Korean models. Some say theres a chance of different markets getting different batteries, but it is NCM for Korean models for sure.
@@CarSceneKorea The 2 models differ little in KW and range. I wish the smaller range model is based on LFP. That would be perfect for me.
Doubt it will come to the US though., btw you are not 5.9 more like 5.7 also go check out the new EV6, it looks really pretty nice
I used the calculator to convert 175cm, still gives me 5 feet 9 inches.
Looks like the new Fiat Panda however I prefer this.
Put a 4 cylinder turbo with a manual transmission then i would consider it.
Another really good Uber car just got out..
Promising small ev car. I know it's supposed to be a tiny car to be less expensive but wishing they come up with a slightly bigger version to haul a small family and more cargo space.
We will soon see more IONIQ series :)
There are plenty of larger EVs for you to choose from.
@@PeterPanQuails we know that, no? Saying this particular design, make sense?
It seems better then Dacia Spring and Renault Twingo?
Everything is better than Spring and old Twingo. E.g. Leapmotor T03, Nammi Box (01), Citroën C3, Fiat Grande Panda, BYD Seagull, ..., new Twingo.
I'm having a very difficult time finding a quality competitor for this Inster.
Citroen e-C3. Affordable it is. And, you can already buy one.
any first look on the new ev4?
Not yet revealed in Korea.
Long variant should have at least 60kwh battery.
All the Kia/Hyundai EVs clearly use the same software and hardware, this looks pretty similar to my Kia Niro EV.
I wish my Niro had all the folding seats, it makes huge difference when you use your car to haul stoff around and camp in it.
Will the Casper be able to tow a trailer?
No official info on towing capacity from Hyundai 🥲
Unfortunately we will not get this in the us 😭😭😭
😭😭😭
보조금이 줄어들지 않는다면 2천초반정도 가격에 구입가능하겠네요
국내 가격은 경쟁력 있게 잘 책정된 것 같습니다. 해외시장에서도 지속되었으면 좋겠어요!
Does 42kwh battery is LFP?
No LFP. It's NCM.
Hope 9:15 helps!
I really like it but I'm hoping that it has actual good batteries underneath it and not those batteries that catches fire.
The ultimate upgrade we need.
@CarSceneKorea I would definitely buy one i love it, but Hyundai batteries are questionable in passed years, I really hope they step up on the battery tech in this model for sure.
not just an afordable EV it is an AFORDABLE CAR a Hyundai Venus is way hi pricied in canada 22K cad$ base car without prep transport and taxes
Agreed! 💯
Im still waiting for gv70 test drive xD
I have a plenty of videos on the car including the test drive, trying to find some time to edit them 😭
@@CarSceneKorea good luck on that! Love your videos ❤️❤️
We need this in Germany
We have this in Germany as Inster. If we need it, is a different question. Europe & Germany are lacking local battery cell (LFP) and EV production.
Coming!
I'm not sure you can say you reviewed a car you didn't drive
A lot of people drive their car from the backseat 😅
A review is one thing, a test drive is another.
I sure will come up with an exhaustive test drive video soon. I did go over this and did think about calling it a test drive, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one on CZcams right now who's even had the butt in a moving Inster, so hope you'd cut me some slack 😭
Is it just me or is there something very 90's small Toyota about the interior....?
That's a nasty scar on your arm. I hope that wasn't too painful. The Casper is a cutie. It will be the Inster over here unfortunately. I prefer Casper. This is what we need. Small, affordable, electric. Will Kia have their own version of the Casper? I'm guessing not.
Got the burn when I was a baby so no memory of it luckily :) Kia also will be having lower number EV series, but not sure about a direct competitor to this Inster.
@@CarSceneKorea Thanks for the info re KIA. Poor baby you. That must have been one helluva burn for there to still be such a large scar. I received burns as a baby too, on both hands. I have some visible scaring on one hand but nothing as impressive as yours.
Shit happens in life, I'm glad that it's just the scar I got, no issue with the arm functioning whatsoever. I also do kinda like it, it's unique :P I've got several surgeries done on the arm including a plastic surgery, hence one straight line of the scar you see instead of the original damaged skin tissue.
@@CarSceneKorea Glad to hear it's not a problem
why can’t manufacturers just call it one pedal driving? I pedal implies it somehow Internet connected. that’s what Apple‘s intention was when they started putting ‘i’ in front of their products.
Perhaps its got to do with the copyright 🧐
Nice to see some other colors, this "yellow-white" that was shown everywhere is awful and looks like old yellowed computers from the 80s ;)
E-cars with wheel hub motors and the new 2000KM battery have a combined range of 3000 kilometers. There are also battery changing stations so that you finally no longer have to charge yourself! .Greetings Thomas PS: Please note: replacing a battery is quicker. 5 minutes for 3000KM.
What a success for the manufacturer, a man can actually sit in the car! The auto industry is really in deep shit.
You'd be surprised like I was and pretty much everyone else on CZcams now, once you see the car's size in person.
The second row can be as roomy as you want once you put it the crumble zone😂
😅😅
قیمتش زیاد نیست🤔
عالی است، امیدوارم برای بقیه دنیا هم همینطور باشد.
It's great, hope it will be too for the rest of the world.
WRONG - first affordable EV is actually DACIA SPRING
@@HowDareYouu Depends on the market, look at the success of Wuling in China and Southeast Asia. And Spring, this is just a Renault Kwid E-tech/K-ZE or Dongfeng Nano Box, already affordable before it was electric.
Meant to include “from Hyundai Motor Group.” 🙇♂️
This is a cool car. But for a ground up designed EV, I can’t believe there is no Frunk. 👎🏼
With the tariffs it will end up costing $80000 🤒
That’s a bit too much 😂
All hail to TATA PUNCH EV..... Without that car this car wouldn't have even born.....
I understand that in Korean culture, positive reinforcement is more used. So compliments are more prevalent and that's alright. But dude come on of course it's a coincident that the tail gate is just high enough to not be a bother when you sit on the open boot. Ain't no way that was a design consideration. The car is already a damn slam dunk on the rest of the industry no reason to sweet talk it. It is awesome.
Perhaps it is because that was the last thing I expected from this Casper Electric you will be amazed by this car when you actually see this one in person trust me you can find the similar things from those who reviewed the car on CZcams.
My vw up has more legroom in the front than a big passat
They make bigger cars smaller inside and it is the most stupid thing
🥲
I won't buy an SUV whether electric or not, I'd rather a small people mover.
It looks a bit like the Suzuki Ignis.
Those colors are horrendous, I kind of love how ugly it is, like a big scoop of dog poop or something, but in a cute way.
🤣😭
That's not a test drive get real
The only "test drive" available in the world, will get the real one asap.
@@CarSceneKorea of course. But this is how auto journalists are forced to compete for debuts for new cars, undermining fair scrutiny.
The normal Casper is WAY over priced, is it not?!?! How is this going to be 'affordable'!! Maybe.....for Paris Hilton!!! lol
You must be poor af!
Paris Hilton drives Bentleys and Ferraris, ya donut. 🙄
@@JohnLee-db9zt That comment went right OVER your head! Ya Philistine! 😂😂
I let comments be so long as one respects another, I hope I don't have to come back to delete this one 🥲
@@CarSceneKorea I came back with a light-hearted rebuke!! His comment was a bit of fun, too! But, I come to watch good content, have a slight joke in a similar way! Not to be scolded by a hall monitors! I'll leave the channel!! Sad, I thought the channel was going somewhere! I respect your outlook. Good luck in the future!
Is this car coming to Canada???
✅ Global Launch: The INSTER will launch in Korea this summer, followed by rollouts in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. An additional variant, INSTER CROSS, with a more rugged design, will join the lineup in the future.
Looks so ugly...dont care about what is mileage etc. Just ignore. They increased 2nd row space and compromized on boot space. 2nd row seats are next to boot door. he is sitting after folding the back seat (cheating viewers)
