We moved from Sarasota FL to Raleigh about 4 years ago, as African Americans, Raleigh and Charlotte are listed as top 5 cities for diversity, cultural experience and jobs. Yes, the 4 seasons is a positive for us. I have loved the cultural experience the most with a great number of AA professionals and businesses

How sad. NC will change into what it's being used to escape from. Sometimes best kept secrets are best kept secret. Thank goodness there are still very rural counties far enough away from the cities mentioned, where NC's quiet beauty and charm still exist.
All that you said is soooo true! I moved from Miami. And I’m so glad I did! Quality of life is just so much better - and yes, people in NC are nicer and polite. Btw, you hit the nail about the drivers!
Only thing I miss from Miami, more shops and walkable neighborhoods, and cuban coffee :)

As someone who moved from South Florida to Apex, 8 months ago, I can vouch for this video being 100% correct. I will add that I haven't seen one single roach here!! One negative thing is that little things seem to be more expensive in NC. (Hair, nails, pet grooming, etc...)
I still have close family there, so I will visit, but I am dreading it.

Commenting as someone who moved from Orlando to Apex just last Friday. We hated the heat, traffic etc. so far loving apex. Have your videos to thank. We are not yet ready to buy but hope to work with you when we are ready.
Also want to add that we love the slower pace of life ! I love that there are more trees than infrastructure.
In terms of weather, I hear more Floridians complaining about the heat more than the hurricanes. I’ll take 3 hurricanes in one year but cannot tolerate the brutal heat in August-November

For condo living, HOA costs in Florida are getting sky high.
I'm from FL and looking to move...just not sure where yet. On the East coast, I'm considering North Carolina or New Hampshire. But a huge part of me wants to go West to either Washington, Idaho,Utah,Oregon or Alaska...too many decisions 😢 ....thank you for this informative video 😊😊😊

You missed the boat on Raleigh. Too expensive and traffic is getting worse. Even areas of SC are getting too expensive. Basically you have to look at the bigger picture. Where is everyone moving to and go somewhere else
I moved from Miami to Apex. Traffic is non-existent in comparison. Keep in mind all the shoveling you'll need to do in the north

I'd rather leave NC and move to FL. Tired of the cold fall & winter. Not colder than 40s normally, but that's like torture to me. I just want to be warm. Also, people are not nice here, except in the beach towns. In the triangle, u'll be friendless bc nobody talks & will be living for summers when there is actually something to do.

SO many people are moving from orlando to nc, quite literally everyone i have spoken to says it's because of the horrible political scene in florida
most of our neighbors are from orlando or miami
the heat and weather is a huge factor, the prices of homes and horrible insurance are as well, but it's the POLITICS that is the biggest reason you will see floridians in nc.
They are some of the most hard/far right people in the country. That’s what they wanted/voted for 🤷🏻♂️
I moved to Charlotte from Orlando recently I don’t like it. I’m thinking about trying Raleigh next.

raleigh is great, durham & cary are nice too, the whole triangle is pretty solid ✨

Our home insurance rates in RTP are currently trying to jump a whopping 40+%. It's being debated right now

It’s true I have friends moving this year since they are not able to tolerate heat waves. Places they are looking is around holly springs, Fuquay varina and Angier as prices are not as crazy as other cities

These comments are entertaining to say the least. Are you all sure you hit every stereotype? I’ve seen the same dynamic everywhere I’ve lived in the world. There are gatekeepers in every place that like to believe their place was so much better before the new people arrived i. e crime was lower! the grass was greener! Attitudes and driving styles are not synonymous with region of the country, it’s dependent upon the individual behind the wheel and their own level competency presented to the current conditions on the roadways; just one of those fallacies that makes our simple brains happy; so much easier to generalize. We all have to live together to a certain extent so maybe it would be better if we viewed the individual from our own personal experiences and without a ton of judgement, because none of our perfect as opposed to giving in to low hanging stereotypes based on where they lived previously and thinking thats enough information to allow us to make conclusive statements.
Homw prices in Cary & Apex are comparable to South Florida specially Weston, Pembroke Pines, Miramar.
It has become so overcrowded here in the Triangle. 10 years ago it was a great place to live, Not anymore. The Florida people bring their reckless driving habits here, along with folks from New York, Jersey, California, and especially Texas. I can understand it seems like paradise here coming from these big cities. But this place is actually becoming just like these cities.
That will be all of the US soon.
can confirm as someone that grew up in the carolinas, as well as orlando, the bad drivers have always been in nc, since way before the 2010's LOL
nc has the worst drivers in the entire country, and i even lived in los angeles for a while, it was nothing compared to what i have seen people do on the roads in charlotte

I moved from Raleigh to Stuart. Lived in Raleigh 63 years. Could no longer feel safe in Raleigh, crime has become rampant. Raleigh is a sanctuary city. Wake County is know to locals as Woke County. Roads are terrible. NC has second most lightening strikes in US. Good Luck !

Y'all must not know about any other cities other than the main ones that everyone wants to go to which explains the high prices I'm a New York native I've lived in Florida before it became what it is now which wasn't that crowded and it was more laid-back now I'm in North Carolina and I love it here most of my family is in the south spent a lot of my childhood time down here
I pay $4550 per year on a 1153 sqft 1963 house. Electric is 160 for 1 person. It takes me 1 hour to drive 14 miles in summer. This past summer we had a few days at 120 heat index. We don't go by regular temperature but heat index due to humidity. People here are either military, government employees or self employed. Average hourly pay is 15 dollars. There are ALOT of people playing the disability card here getting free money. Then you have the other half barely making it. Florida is terrible because our states been over rum with illegals and they take up huge resources. Our schools have degraded and our governor sucks because he doesn't do much but takes ALL CREDIT from past administration's. Don't even think of making friends here because people don't like to talk to people here. One day they're here, the next they are gone. Lots of drugs, fighting and don't get me started about traffic. Please move away from Florida. I'm looking into moving overseas.
And people say all New York City people are here but yet they are more Publix being built I swear every other week and now Apple is here, so who really controls the NC population.

NC has a yearly Vehicle Property Tax so even if you lease a car, you will be still have to pay this extra tax based on its value. Whatta Ripp... Most states do not have this.

Possibly in both states. A lot of people are moving to both NC and FL. There are definitely people moving from NC to FL as well. Both states have hot markets, so if this demand continues it could keep prices high in both areas.

That's such a huge misconception. I'm in Apex from Pembroke Pines, been here 8 months, and I've spent more time outdoors in the last 8 months than I ever have in FL. The move has been great for my wellbeing

Yes, and with all these new people and houses our property taxes are on the rise. Soon it will be too expensive to live in NC. Now they are talking about raising our home owners insurance also.

I moved from the Tampa area to Raleigh 2.5 years ago, and don't regret it in the least.
The extremes of Raleigh heat and humidity are on par with FL weather, but they are outliers rather than the daily experience.
Not mentioned in the video is one of the reasons I wanted to leave FL- partisan politics. I wanted a blue area in a purple state. While things have gone in an unexpected direction in the legislature since I moved, I'm still happier with our legislature than I was in FL (and FL's legislature continues to go in directions I am not in agreement with).

I would like to hear from a local North Carolina person express how happy they are that people from the northeast brought their arrogant, self-serving, rude attitudes to the south. You are going to find out that all your food is horrible, you can’t drive, things are better back home, etc. and one of the expressions I like “oh my jersey can come out when it needs to.” like that’s a good thing.
