I think people really stress themselves out when it comes to being vegan, I’m vegan but honestly when someone is veggie or stops drinking milk any small thing I’m always super supportive!! Any small thing is wonderful so don’t be too stressed if you’re trying something like this out but aren’t perfect. n_n
Couldn't agree more. Small changes at a time are such an easier way to transition and is less discouraging for some people.
exactly! Little steps always!
Agree! It’s about improvement not necessarily perfection all the time.
I am vegan & have never felt better but I agree that being vegetarian is a great option for people who are struggling to go vegan straight away & switching from dairy to non dairy/vegan substitutes is another geat option 😊
Leenie Legs I decided I wanted to go vegan only last week after watching some documentaries I cannot unsee. But I feel like sometimes if you set out to ‘climb a mountain’ you can get a bit daunted at becoming perfect and cutting everything out at once. I’m a perfectionist by nature and actually quite embarrassed by my own ignorance around food now I’ve had that mind shift, however I’m taking it in stages as I know I’ll get to full vegan that way! X
Just keep in mind that even tho you are not vegan, every time you choose a vegan option, you incorporate a vegan day or even a week into your life, that is so amazing! Thanks for trying and sharing it on your platform. I am glad you liked it🤗💜💜💜
kiimolii I make vegan videos for cheap and easy meals for inspo if you're interested!
I like this positivity ! x
Yessss 🐷🐮🐔🐣❤️
Ahh this is a lovely comment x
I agree 💕 small changes make big differences ❤️
Yaaasss Sammi! So excited you gave it a go for a week! As its something you've been interested in for a while like you said, my best advice is to take it easy and do it step by step, incorporating more plant based meals into your life moving forward! I've got lotsa recipes you can try ;)
I’ve been vegan since I was ten. I’m 32, so I also love this adventure Sammi is on. By the way, I dig your videos too, girl!
Did you know Oreos are vegan?
Also lovely can I just say, you don’t have to buy all the expensive stuff! Sainsburys, Tesco etc all do their own vegan choc buttons for literally 60p! White and plain, lots of biscuits are vegan including choc chip hobnobs! Have a look on “accidentally vegan” lists, there’s tons and tons of food you wouldn’t even believe 😊
Abbey 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Sammy come to my café in Peckham check out Deserted Cactus all vegan will send you some more info. Bring the family down will look after ya hun 😋😘💚
London Afro Vegan Recipes I second this!!
Very cool and helful. Yay, this is so good for her, I think. ♡
Ooh I’ve heard of this I wanna go sometime!
ooo I hope she goes
Nice!
Everyone complaining that Sam isn’t a “proper vegan” for buying docs and reinforcing that it’s a lifestyle as well as a diet... please get in the bin. Like actually have a day off - it’s incredible she’s even tried it as a diet for a week and I’m sure the rest will come in time if it’s something Sam enjoyed! But for 10000% reading through the comments and seeing everyone hop on her dick for not being wholly vegan all week is definitely not helpful or positive or doing anything good for trying to change the way people see veganism. As vegans we should praise people for even trying it as a diet for a week - don’t be a dick about it. Constructive criticism is different - helpfully informing is different to being condescending. Food for thought y’all (no pun intended). YAAASS SAM QUEEN YOU NAILED IT HONEY🤙🏽👌🏽
Well said. We should encourage everybody who even tries it a bit. Any step is better than none 👍🏻
I can’t see anyone criticising her, just correcting the title of the video? Along with encouraging the fact that she’s even tried eating vegan food for a week? And that’s ok - people aren’t haters for that.
It's not the fact that she's buying docs in general....it's the fact that it's in this video about being vegan. It's just a little ironic is all. A plant based diet is the more appropriate term.
If we get rid of the cultish judgement attitude then more people will be vegan thus being more helpful to our cause.
Nothing to add other than I like the way you think. :)
Hi sammi! I just wanted to address the UV thing. I have a bachelors in cellular and molecular biology and masters in microbiology and UV lights (any kind - sun exposure, uv machines, etc) damage the DNA in the cells therefore inducing skin cancer. This is not a myth - it is real. Any type of UV. So those manicures not only promote to skin ageing but also, and more preocupating, skin cancer. I am baffled how it is allowed and such a common practice and most people aren't even aware of this. Safety and health should always be first. Love youuu
Wow thank you for saying this!
Hey, very curious about this. Do you think using sunscreen would limit some of the damage from the UV lamps?
I completely agree! I'm an aesthetician specializing in laser and light therapy and getting regular gel manicures is not safe without protection! Sunscreen is an option, but there are a lot of factors that will affect how much protection you actually receive. The best idea I've seen to date is getting sun protective gloves and cutting off the finger tips. Hope this helps! ❤❤❤
Kingdom Oracles your argument is fallacious:
1. There have many many generations of people that were never diagnosed with cancer. That doesn’t mean cancer isn’t real. It’s either because a) medical science has advanced enough to detect and classify cancer b) our environment has changed, exposing us to more free radicals which can cause cancer.
2. Warm climate has little to do with sun exposure. In many warm countries people are either indoors a lot or use other forms of sun protection (I.e. parasols, shades, clothing that covers a lot of skin). Equally, the incidence of skin cancer is high in some warm weather countries. Look up the stats for skin cancer in Australia.
3. It is a known scientific fact that UV rays cause cancer. There are many robust scientific studies that are backed by data.
4. Wearing sunscreen is not the only way to protect yourself and it’s certainly not a perfect way. In fact the best way is staying out of the sun completely. You can also use hats, clothing, shade etc. Sunscreen provides that much extra protection on the margin, when you won’t realistically stay out of the sun.
5. This is also proven strongly with scientific evidence and backed by every legit national and international association of dermatologists.
Hi Joana, was wondering if sunbeds are worse for your skin than actually lying in the sun? Aren't the rays in tanning beds more controlled? Thank you!
OMG i can’t believe you went vegan for a week!
I’ve been vegan for almost 2 years now and it has been one of the best decisions of my life
So glad you decided to try it out 🤗🌿💪🏼
adar sabag agreed, best decision I've made too! I make vegan videos for cheap and easy meals for inspo if you're interested!
Any other vegans here?🌿😀
molly R-T yasss! I make vegan videos for cheap and easy meals for inspo if you're interested!
yaaasss!!!
Here 👋
Yay yay!!!👋
Jup 💪🏻
Off topic but how stunning does Sam look in that black high neck top and tan blazer combo?!
i told myself i was going to go vegan for a month, just to see, and i've been vegan now for more than 2 years! i attribute that mostly to the fact that during that time, i educated myself more on the ethics of veganism and the cruelty involved in the animal agriculture industries, which i hadn't even known about going into it (mostly just wanted to try it bc the food looks delicious and i was trying to eat better). i really encourage you to do so as well if you haven't already! watch the best speech you'll ever hear by gary yurofsky (czcams.com/video/es6U00LMmC4/video.html) as well as earthling ed's newer speech (czcams.com/video/Z3u7hXpOm58/video.html). they're both highly informative and empowering, and really focus on the ethical aspect of veganism. once i stopped seeing veganism as simply a "diet" it changed everything for me! hope you continue on this journey, it's the best thing ever! good luck.
Tori Flot that's like when I went veggie for lent at 14 for a laugh, I ended up being veggie for life! Now vegan!
the same happend to me. Good to know that I'm not the only one
Yeeeesssss👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Agreed! I am vegan for ethical reasons too 😊😊
I told my parents I wasn’t going to eat meat for a week and it’s almost been 3 years:)
It's great you're trying out and introducing more plant-based meals to your daily life!
I'm sure you're going to get lots of messages about this but veganism is a lifestyle, plant-based is a diet. When you're vegan, it means avoiding any and all products made from animals, which means no meat, eggs, dairy, etc. as well as no leather, wool, silk, etc. or beauty products made with or tested on animals.
But regardless of whether you "go full vegan", adopt a plant-based diet, or just eat less meat - what you're doing is great. Thank you for showing how good plant-based foods can be :)
Sophie Davies I guess you could say she's eating a vegan diet which is ok too!
Sophie Davies go
well I do research on animals to cure malaria so I’m out 😁
As someone who never thought they'd end up being vegan, I think the easiest way to try things out and play with cutting out animal products is just slowly substitute different groups- ie, start using alternatives to dairy, stop eating red meat, stop eating meat at home, etc etc and eventually you'll be there! But, remember, there's no pressure to be "perfect" or do everything at once! Do what feels comfortable for you and your body :)
"Did you say our.. oh I'm not doing it anymore" literally 5 seconds in LOL
Jason did such a good job with the toy chest !
Also Hummus on Vegan Pizza is LIFE! and also with bread as well. It's a life saver when you have no options or lazy to cook or find vegan food
also a lot of biscuits are vegan! They don't have to be super expensive - things like Tesco value stuff are typically vegan and their free from biscuits/ snacks often are. Tesco is my go to place for EVERYTHING (except fruit and veg - market, it's cheaper!) Plus you can eat cereal/oats like normal, just with dairy free milk!
This title made me jump for joy when I got the notification!😄 I would love to watch you continue to do a vegan week once a month and maybe try and look up some recipes similar to your favorite dishes to eat/cook. I find it to be so fun trying to recreate my favorite meals that I loved to eat when I ate meat and dairy. Love your videos Sam, you are so inspirational!❤️❤️❤️
I don't eat dairy (normally) as I'm lactose intolerant and have about two vegetarian so vegan days in the week, it depends. Just don't stress about labelling!! Just do u
Sam! I'm a long time fan and sooooo excited to see this. You're awesome, keep it up! I was vegetarian years ago, fell out of it and started eating meat again.. then I watched some documentaries (Forks Over Knives, What the Health, Cowspiracy, Earthings, and Dominion) and went vegan a year ago. Best decision I ever made. :)
Plant based diet is the right term :) meal prep, B12 supplements are key
And do it on your own pace, never go hungry
THE DONUT LOOKED DELICIOUS
Andrea Velez supplements are needed on ANY diet though remember, it's impossible to get all the B12 and essential vitamins and minerals we need a day regardless of any diet!
So true. I know a meat eater who has a B12 deficiency and no vegan I know struggles that much with it
True true ☺
There is a vegan alternative for every food that you like trust me :)
Kim Sensener although I am still waiting for a bloody vegan kinder bueno to come out haha
@@serinagillian In the meanwhile there's a recipe for vegan kinder bueno by the Tasty K :)
@@serinagillian I know this is such an old comment but just have to say - Love Raw do amazing vegan Kinder Buenos now 🤩🤩🤩
From a professional nail artist, as long as you are doing your nails in some place safe and clean the uv light is just about the same as catching some daylight outside, no need to worry but you can for sure rub a bit a sunscreen on the top part of your hands before you go in. xx
Dalila Contreiras Yeah thank you for that logic
loads of biscuits are actually vegan, the longer you’re vegan the more you find out you can eat. choc chip hobnobs, bourbons, ginger nuts, nice biscuits etc are all vegan! so many people think you need to buy the free from stuff but you really don’t!! the only things that i buy which are free from is butter and milk
Omgoshhh! The toy chest Jason built for Indie is so adorable and amazing!!! How thoughtful the chalk board, and the lego top and the part for books! So lovely ☺️ AND YOU BOUGHT THE JADON’s! Can’t wait to see you style them 💜
Top marks to Jason on the toy box build. It was "fantastic" LOL.
I think its very important people adress this topic. Veganism is nothing but commitment and enjoying whats fair to enjoy, not what isnt yours to take (from animals). Thanks for addressing the topic in such an entertaining and dinamic way, showing different options and how we can relate to veganism not neccessarily labeling ourselves as one. Personally, Ive been vegan for around 4 years now and Im so grateful I made that decision. Thank you again!
I always wonder that about shellac so I've started wearing SPF on my hands before I go! I wear SPf everyday anyway, but make sure I've reapplied to my hands before I go to the salon
Good for you Sammi! For the past two years I have slowly been cutting down on meat but haven't completely stopped eating it! I eat meat maybe once a month and I have replaced all the dairy products for vegan alternatives. I think it's important to find the level that suits you without feeling any pressure to become a full on vegan, unless you really want to:)
This video is great! I tried going vegan about a year ago but have settled in a place where I'm just pescetarian and dairy free but trying to eat less fish and eggs! Every little bit helps!
Rebecca8Joanie so good! Little steps! I make vegan videos for cheap and easy meals for inspo if you're interested!
Where did you get those leggings from the all black outfit?! I've been looking for a good quality, non-seethrough pair for ages!
how are the oat milk lattes? Ive tried making some at home and im not a fan, but i never risk spending money on an oat latte because i dont want to waste. Does it just taste off ? am i using the wrong coffee beans for it ? am i not used to it ? i dont know
I love your vlogs! Especially seeing Indie grow it’s sooo cute! Love this Sam! 💕✨😊
It’s such an amazing lifestyle! Hope you enjoyed it and incorporate it more into your life :)
I had the same thought about the UV light when getting my nails done and I always put sunscreen on my hands before now. Especially since the hands tend to be a dead giveaway with aging!
I predominantly eat veggie anyway and always feel so much better and less sluggish for doing so xx
Alsoooo at first thought Indie's toy box was a baby pool table 😂😂😂 so cute
Exciting to see people making changes in becoming more plant based! As for biscuits, there are so many accidentally vegan ones to chose from! My favs being oreos and most supermarket bourbon creams. You should look around on instagram pages such as accidentally vegan uk, they show loads of products you wouldn't even think were vegan! Pizza express have just brought out some new vegan pizzas with vegan cheese, alongside lots of other food chains! Super excited to follow you on your plant based journey! x
i love the consistancy of this vlog! i also love seeing more of jason like we used too! been following you forever its great to see how far you've come!
so happy you're trying it :) i'm vegan myself 4 yrs now it's not hard at all. wish you best luck !
I bought the Jadon too for my birthday and it was the best decision ever! I wear them with everything and it only took me twice to break them in to the point of being absolutely comfy :)
Omg that drunk elephant package is more than my rent
Ellen Robinson
Omg I know righttttt!!! Is drunk elephant a new thing in the uk? I know it’s pretty popular here in the states.
Loved this type of vid on your main channel. I usually just watch your vlogs cuz I like the more personal aspect and see what your up to but this combined a topic and a vlog in one! Very entertaining!
i always get so excited when I see a new video from you :) you were the VERY FIRST person I subscribed to back in maybe 2012-2013, back when I had an email that I don’t even remember anymore 😂 you’ll always be the OG CZcamsr to me
I’m obsessed with you and Jason!! You guys are sooo cute! ❤️😍
I am vegan for 2.5 years. I know that is a cliche but it truly changed my life. First of all diet , my perspective and my body. And it may look hard for some but for me it's so easy to make meals. And i live in a small town in Greece so if you want to make change you can do it step by step.
Loved watching this! Love your vlogs xxx
YAAS GIIRL. I've been waiting soo lang for this!
Keep loving your videos even it´s been ages since I follow you!! Love your content, your natural way of communicating
with us (the other side of the screen).
Cheeeers for you!!!!!!!!
Love the vlog style content for this channel, it gives off a more relatable vibe and def keeps me coming back to your channel!
I went vegan for a week to see if I could do it and now I'm nearly 6 months into it! I feel so much better in myself as well. It's definitely worth sticking with it!
OMG Sammy i did this too and went straight for the pastries!! Might just try it again and vlog my week. So entertaining, more vlogs please😘
As a vegan, what makes it really worth it for me and keeps me going is after every meal, no matter if it's unhealthy of not, I can really feel like it I did something meaningful. Like I can make so much change with something as simple as a meal. For my body, the environment and the animals. It is (for me atleast) an active choice to try and make things better for both myself and others 😊
Yay I loved this! I went vegan at the beginning of the year and was very similar to you with how I toyed with the idea for so long. I kept putting it off and finding excuses as for why not to go vegan but eventually couldn’t bring myself to eat meat or dairy anymore.
I went from meat eater straight to vegan and have found my health improve so much, I don’t have asthma anymore!
Would love to know more about your reasons behind wanting to go vegan and what it is that’s drawing you to it x
hi sammy! i’m in love with your sun and moon earrings! where are they from? :)
What cookbook did she shout out again?
Does anyone know where Sami's leopard print shoes at 4:37are from? I LOVE THEM
So jelly of the drunk elephant!!!!
And YESSS do tell us what you like of it!!!
I have been wanting to try some of there products for awhile now!!
Love you Sammy!😘😘
Excited for you Sam! I think it's always great to try the things you want to do. I talked about trying veganism as a diet and a lifestyle for years and just one day finally did it. I've been vegan for three years and I'm very happy with how it's influenced my health and happiness. It's easier if you have vegan friends to support you and share recipes with. Ignore the people calling this a trend, veganism is here to stay. Good luck!
Janeen Williams totally agree! Sick of people calling it a trend! I make vegan videos for cheap and easy meals for inspo if you're interested!
i asked my dermatologist about the UV light thing for gel/shellac and she said to try to avoid it because it is UV light even though its only a little bit, but she said to just put some sunscreen on your hands before.
omg indy is so cute!
Yes queen I'm so excited for this vlog!! Vegan is the way forward I'm so glad you tried it out, thank you so much for trying it even for a week!! Love you sammyyyyyy
Also, go try Purezza in Camden, it’s a vegan pizza place and it is absolutely incredible!!!
I already have an age spot on my hand grrrr! But when I get my nails done I take the Ultrasun hand spf 50 with me and slather it on before exposing my hands to the UV
May I ask why you are getting your tattoo lasered? I have also been thinking of getting my big one on my arm lasered off but scared you will be able to see scars🤷🏻♀️
I love seeing the vlogs!!
Hey Sammi! I'm vegan and biscuits are pretty much my fave food- you don't need to get the fancy oat ones, here are some of my fave accidentally vegan biscuits:
-Bourbon biscuits
-Oreos
-Golden Oreos (Taste just like custard creams)
-Oaty biscuits
-Choc Chip Hobnobs
Hope this helps!
yay lovely video Sam💕
Also Caffe Nero now do a vegan pesto toastie and it's delicious!! It's great if you're stuck when out and about. The Pret avo, olive and tomato baguette is also quite good and doesn't have the dreaded coriander :)
Oh my god, Indy is too cute for words. What a funny little bunny. By the way the toys box is awesome. Great job! We had something similar when our kids were young and they loved it. It would be so cool to attach a little bucket or something similar to the front next to the chalk board that will hold chalk
“Fantastic” lol Indie is adorable! Noah and her look similar lol. Also I would love more vlog style vids on this channel. loved this video!
please do a video styling the jadons!! they're my fave!
It might take some getting used to but once you're used to it, being vegan is so easy! I went vegan about a year ago and I only wish I'd done it sooner! Definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made!!
There are special gloves to protect your hand that let just the nail exposed, but i read in my dermatology medical book about a special type of skin cancer. It apears only undernail. I can t say if the uv light is so strong but you can never be too cautious.
Jason! Bravo, beautiful toy box...thoughtful design! ♡
I LOVE your outfit with the new docs! I love an all black outfit haha. I go by a 'flexitarian' method diet wise, I have 300g or less of meat and fish per week (usually works out at around 2 meals). I eat eggs and occasionally cheese but not often. I have soya/almond milk and soya yoghurt in replacement of all other dairy.
Where is your cardigan from that you’re wearing when you get donuts pleeease? Love
omg sam i love those sun and moon earrings! where are they from? i must have them!
I think about the same thing every time I get my nails done. Omg. My fd said that I m way too paranoid. I thought I was the only that would worry about things like that. There's once I put sun cream on my hands before going to the nails salon, but the lady who does my nails said that I shouldn't, coz the cream will affect the nails ? It would be difficult for them to put the colour on. I will have to wash off the cream. I reli wonder if this is a thing!
Ooooh I love the way you’ve been doing your brows! Updated quickie in your next vlog?? Please!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I love watching Hot For Food/Lauren Toyota both for low-key vegan meal ideas and some more fun ones!
I LoVvved this Video!!!!! Such natural and great Blog
I’ve literally only just started watching but I’m really excited to watch this! I’m making a transition to vegan all day except dinner at the moment purely for convenience of family cooking. But if I’m successful until the end of the year I’m hoping to go fully vegan in the new year. I’m saying lots of tentative words like hopefully because I have a couple of health problems and will need to check the health affects for myself
oh sammie you're such a breath of fresh air, I absolutely love you as a person
Vloggy 🤘🏼 Love this video, Sam. It felt natural and it’s nice to watch something you did for yourself and not necessarily for others.
Thank you for sharing your week with us! Loved this so much.
I think that about the UV lamps aswell!!!
Loved this Sammi! The Flora Dairy Free spread is my fave btw! It's much more buttery in my opinion :) I always think that if you're unsure, remember it doesn't have to be such a binary thing. If there are certain dishes that you love and can't imagine giving up, maybe just eat those and make other choices the rest of the time. I know people are a little much online but people want to put you in a box and life is much more complex than that. I know you already eat loads of veggie dishes anyway, that curry looked amazing!
I loved this video so much! I've been considering doing a vegan trial period as well
Love the vogs as well on this channel!
BISCOFF IS THE BEST especially on apples or bananas :)
Perfect timing! Planning to do the same this week coming :)
Hey Sammy! Great video
Here are two vegan youtubers I like to watch: cheap lazy vegan and Maddie Lymburner. Also, I think it is great that you tried being vegan. Every step in this direction is good for the animals and our environment.
Yayyyy!!! so happy you're giving it a go, I went vegan like a year ago and it's really changed everything in my life for the better. I lost a bunch of weight at first and then it just plateaued and I feel so light and have more energy than I ever did, even as a vegetarian!! Happy you're feeling the positive effects too :)
Loved this vlog a lot, Indie is soooo cute and adorable ❤️❤️❤️❤️ bless her xxxx
where are your star and moon earrings from?? Love them xx
Sometimes quiet normal weeks are so nice, loved this one. Indie is so so cute and growing fast. Love to hear her talk. I really enjoyed this quiet week with you.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! It is VERY MUCH like how you used to do videos- and i am all the way here for it!!! And the fact that it was 28 min- Love!!! Plz do more of these Long vloggy kind of videos😁👍🏽
