Here it is: your comprehensive guide to the all-new D-Max.
We've given the new Isuzu D-Max 2021 model a thorough workout in this video review, spending hours of time driving it both on-road and off-road. And for this video test, we've got both Senior Editor Matt Campbell and Adventure Editor Marcus Craft to give you their thoughts on the new D-Max ute.
There's certainly plenty to consider: the 2021 D-Max is all-new, with a new engine, new transmission, new chassis, new body, new interior - and new technology and safety gear that push the Isuzu Ute from pretender to contender.
Our test covers off variants in the D-Max range, including the SX, LS-M, LS-U and X-Terrain, with pricing details and more.
Stay tuned for more Isuzu D-Max reviews, including an Adventure review on the LS-U, an Expert test on the X-Terrain, and a Tradie test on the SX.

I wish Isuzu still sold their brand in the USA.
I just saw the teaser for the Dmax here in the Philippines and I never searched for something so fast in my life
Excellent review.. The time stamps are a very handy
Keep up the good work
Love my 13 max ,built like a tank, never missed a beat, best truck on the market and I know I have had em all...
Great review boys! My next ute👌
Buying The LS-U 4x4 Thanks for the video, hope the towing test comes out soon
Mega luv from Zimbabwe. #WithYouForTheLongRun
brilliant, love the test drive that I had. Peter

I love the clatter. I drive the Amarok and I miss the agricultural Isuzu noise
Bra, that agricultural diesel sound was so reassuring - classic 😅
Best comment 😄
Excellent showing
Can't wait to have this beast in Zimbabwe 💪
Shingirai F. Mutambirwa eh kaaa
Can you send me an Mu-x to The U.s. please 😆
Beautiful design
Awesome 👏 review
Love this
3:46 That D-MAX cup holder joke 🤣 and the little pause after it 🤣🤣🤣
Wfstas🤣
We’re missing these trucks in the US, sadly. Toyota Hilux and the new Nissan Frontier. These three truck are really amazing!
Thanks guys great review i dive the beach alot so i would like you to include sand driving in your tests
Will be upgrading to the new top model D Max and can not wait! Our family did have a new Hilux but had nothing but issues and was not reliable, our current gen D Max has been so wonderful :)
What kind of issues did you have?
@@Itscourtenayxo probably DPF FULL SEE OWNERS MANUEL.. so you drive the car continuesly over 65 for 20 to 30 minutes as the manuel sais… when you do that a nother warning comes up saying DPF FULL VİSİT YOUR DEALER... so you turn back.. before you can get back the engine warning light comes on and the transmission starts hard shifting and can lead to a very fast transmission break and much more. happens to most hilux owners before 100 000 KM.
@@alanyesilipek7959 oh wow! That can't be good :((
Issues on a Hilux? Very rare
@@zwelibanzimthombeni9354 not rare, plenty of issues.
Thanks guys seems like it can’t be beaten for it’s safety features but yes no electric seats at that price & the motor could have or should’ve been a bit bigger.
I’m looking for a double cab ute so I’ll be doing some comparing the new Nissan N-Trek a possibility maybe the new Toyota Hilux Ford Wildcat although I’m not a Ford fan, I loved the Holden Sportscat but that’s history now.
Thanks
I own a 3.2 ranger wildtrak but i like this one too.
Yes this is the one for me orded now waiting for XTERRIAN TO ARRIVE can't wait
Eeeeee😡
Ive had the 2014 Isuzu DMax and I enjoyed it, it was a great vehicle so I'm a bit salivating over the 2021 model, can't with till it gets to my country in Trinidad early next year, I already have my order in.
Did they give you an estimated price for it?
How tings in trini bai?
@@dushyantx Not so good atm but at least we smiling a lil bit cause tkr win.
Awaiting price still
ive just drove the new D max and the first thing i noticed was the prescence of a big blackout spot in the top of the middle of the window screen which is taken up by the camera system. it reallt takes up a lot of room and reminds you of having a sunvisor that you want to flick back up as it really does blind your front vision.
I like it I'll get one of this
Wowww❤️
Well done Isuzu🤝🤝
Wish we could buy those here in the states!!!
It wouldn't sell well. The truck market is already set in the U.S.
It is a really nice truck indeed, but what I miss here in Europe is a RAM 1500 which is not 69000 Euro....I think US price is like half of that?
Nice
No sabía que rick ahora hace test de coches
Great looking truck why don’t we have that in USA
nice one
Hope it lasts longer than mine ..35000 miles , fsh , three and a half years old it’s in having the air con repaired which involves taking the whole dash out , the 5year 125000 mile warranty doesn’t cover it (surprise surprise) ..Isuzu U.K. have offered only words (again surprise surprise) meanwhile I’m facing a huge bill ...
For me one of the best options prefer this pickup and not a Toyota with one thousand expensive options
I hope they finally have a quiet engine
Thanks for the review..im buying Dmax...looks better technology than the Ford Ranger Raptor...
I wanna use this for my zebra farm in zimbabwe
AC/ Ventilation and HU control knobs on the previous generation dmax is much ergonomical and easier to use.
I like DMAX
Can you please guide me on my doubt that whether v coss and dmax is same product or different?
这漆水,真漂亮!比江西五十铃好看扎实多了
Compare to the last generation of D-Max, their inside space is the same or old one is bigger?
Isuzu finally arrives in the 21st century 😂😂 We have the older D-max cause Dad loves it but it feels so utilitarian compared to my Hyundai.
صحيح. السيارة ممتازه انا معكم جميعا
Great looks and tough and reliable.
Just check out 24/7 4wd action with Graham and Shauno with his my 20 dmax.
Where other brands get broken bits, the isuzu just keeps going, also water tight
So is it true this model cannot have lift kits installed and bull bars or bigger wheels?
Why would u say the SX is ‘not as accommodating off road’?. As far as i can determine it’s off-road capabilities are exactly the same - better in fact - smaller rims to hold ‘bigger’ rubber (comes with 29” AT - I’d fit 33’s), tunable engine, etc. With a snorkel, 2” lift, canopy, bull bar etc I think the SX auto, dual cab is the best value and capable pick of the bunch
everist22 I was wondering the same. If you were buying a dual cab (with as many features as you could), do you still think the SX is the best bet if fitting springs, canopy, tyres, roof top tent, storage draws, etc? Cheers
Carl Naessens Hi Carl - personally i want all the 4x4 benefits and don’t need the top spec add-on’s like leather seats, electric seat adjustment, front parking sensors, 18” rims, 9” screen etc - because I’m going to modify it for 4x4. So the $10,000 or so difference b/w the SX and high specced model, for me, is best spent on lift, bull bar, canopy, tyres, snorkel, diff breathers, engine tune etc
everist22 Thanks for that. I think it will become clearer when I check them out.
Take took a l-su for a drive this morning, very happy. What do you think about the rubber it comes with
As longs as it ain’t got holes you won’t knock her up👍
is this the same as the V-Cross or different variant?
I've seen the D-Max 2021 with all the new upgrades,go up against the Ranger 2021,and the D-Max couldn't keep up.D-Max still has lots of improvements to make.

ISUZU D-MAX 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
I first read it as thw Isuzu D-Bag
I think Dmax really smashed it out of the park with this one. That 3l turbo would last 300000 km easy
Mojo it’s actually just as powerful as a Hilux despite the figures and at least the engine is more reliable than the others. D Max has the best and most reliable engines which can’t be said for the others.
@@eljayy91 you can actually remap the ECU, add 10-20% more power easily (some aggresive map can add up to 40%) and torque, and still held 500k km++. 4jj1 is seriously understressed. You wont even need to replace the injector until you hit 200hp. Stock internal can hold until 450hp easily (they done up to 500hp with stock internal).
They have smaller, older sibling called panther in Indonesia, with same design.. old, agricultural diesel with massively understressed factory setup.,
@@eljayy91 Apart from volkswagen who makes an unreliable ute?
You will get a lot more than 300ks...
I thought 300000km was the break in period
Pls compare Triton vs 2021 Dmax pls
Go the d max mate you won't regret it...

🥇🌏🌎🌍🏆😄😃😀👍👏👏👏👏
I have the spec just below x-terrain, brand new been driving for a month now (at about 1k kms) and while it is a genuinely beautiful vehicle, and despite the various safety features, I have never felt more unsafe in any vehicle I have owned. More times than I can count I have had this thing slam on the brakes in an 'emergency' situation (no one was in front of me directly, it had detected a car that had turned and was already well clear) almost caused a pile-up. It has yanked the wheel out of my hands while switching lanes on the motorway when nothing was in my blind spot. And the censors seem to pick and choose when they want to go off - sometimes even when nothing is present. Also, on multiple occasions I have been in a situation where I needed to quickly nip through an intersection or into traffic, and when I put my foot down to give it gas it has had a complete dead spot, almost like it is bogging, where it completely loses power and momentum, and then it slowly drags itself back up to speed. This has almost caused me to be in 2 different accidents. Beautiful truck, but it makes me nervous.
Thankfully the new update will see those safety features turned off with one push of a button :)
I should update - I dont know whether the system has some kind of AI learning implemented, but these issues have all become far more refined and accurate over time. Now I barely have any issues at all, and majority of alerts are legitimate.
..less power and torque.. but it's still quicker than the new Hilux 😅
Getting a hilux in these modern tines is close to a STUPID lol, overpriced rough truck who havent seen an improvement since day 1!
Huh..? Oh, you mean the slowlux
@@gp85hkg overrated and underspecced,
Yup. Dmax , best selling pickup in thailand.
Its not about speed dummy haha .Other wise i would of bought myself a sports car.The Hilux will smash any other Ute on road and offroad which is why its the best selling Ute for 4 years now its Unbreakable and built to last.Get educated.
Do you sell to the Caribbean,SVG and what are their price
I wish I could buy the car here in Japan as well.
That must feel worse than me in the u.s. Isuzu is Japanese company right?
@@corywilliamsmith Yes, they gave up selling their cars in their home country.
@@user-qe7tr3ml3h that's incredibly ironic and sad
@@user-qe7tr3ml3h for real?!?! 😲
@@user-qe7tr3ml3h you remind of my country. The Mercedes Benz c class is manufactured in South Africa but we are the last country to get it.
I want this car when is it coming to SA?
For $60k it’s missing a few little things that would put it top of the class. Like you said auto dimming rear view mirror, electronic hand brake, heated seating, heads up display
They will always leave a few cherries for the upgrades to follow. And then, durability and trust comes at a premium.
Gert van den Heever I understand they have to leave something for the series 2 or face lifted model that comes in a few years etc. but I feel like Australia gets the raw end of every vehicle due to our small sales and population. We pay a premium compared to other countries and get less tech.
Why would you ever want a electronic hand brake?
@@tobyparker9073 why would you want a big annoying stick that's always in the way?
@@tobyparker9073 Have one in my X5. Not as bulky, reliable and refined. Although a more expensive setup - especially the electronic actuator.
Know you mention Nms, but keen to see comparison of how effective the Nms are in each gear shift. My understanding is that while not the same as Toyota or Ford, it reaches 300Nm faster than the other two. Great review.
Apparently the Dmax produces 300Nm from 1000rpm and maximum 450Nm between 1400-2600. From other reviews, the auto transmission swaps cogs so it stays in the meaty part of the torque spread. So, should be efficient in the sense that it makes the most out of what it has, which is what really matters.
Brad 300Nm at 1000rpm is amazing
What do you think, this or the FX4MAX ?
does really manual more fuel economy
It would be nice to have 360 deg cameras, but maybe it will come soon
Dmax
of the best for Asia
เอเชียหรือแค่ไทย 555555
Is it available now in the Philippines 2o21 dmax
Do a new triton review
It is a nice UTE (call it a Bakkie in SA), but the offroad was a sissy test. Please do a hard offroading test, real hard. a Normal 4x2 Bakkie can do that road. Go do rock climbing, thick mud, thick loose sand, steep incine and declines through tricky terrain where traction really count.
Want to se a full comparison between the Ranger Wildtrack(2.0L), Top of the Isuzu's, Hilux, Raptor, Amarok, BT50, 2021 Navara/Frontier and maybe the Triton. On road yes and definitely a hard offroad test. Also include the Cruiser. Another one can be Jeep's double cab Bakkie (UTE). The Cruiser and Jeep are normally harder and will like to see how the soft offroadera compare. That is a test I don't want to miss please.
looks like the business but bloody hell its not a good price. I almost bought one 2 days ago until the price was disclosed
The special on the X terrain is $58k, seems well priced to me
It looks mad
If someone purchased the Ute is it better to go the hole hog and buy the X or would you say just the LS-U , like it’s high 55s anyway
Depends how long the waiting time is, if its still 6-9 months, id get the LSU as its 3k cheaper DA
Tyre profile??
Is there an ad blue tank ?
Is it better than the Raptor??
2021 in MALAYSIA ?
Are these made in Thailand? Nice truck.
The infotainment is designed not to fiddle around when the car is moving. So I don’t get it why it’s almost the same complaint from the reviewer. I thought they figured it out.
I would go for the base single cab in auto.
Beautiful looking Dmax. Great job. My frustration... why is Isuzu not adding more torque or kw to it to keep up and or beat its rivals? Very Silly decision.
They have been that way, isuzu is understressing the engine way too much, probably for durability reason. A simple ECU remap take care of it easily.
whats the biggest types can fit???
COME BACK TO THE U.S. ISUZU PLEASE
welcome to india 🇮🇳 dmax
Is there a single cab
if this was the top spec , why are there so many blank buttons...?? i love this new dmax though...macho and elegant at the same time
Same as the Suzuki Jimny, Australia doesn't get the full package...
Will get used when the facelift comes out next year
Go straight past the Isuzu dealer and consider the Mitsubishi L200, or the VW amarok,
is the best pick up on the market
@@ben130i8 looks are pretty subjective and they grow on you eventually. L200 is very good
Asddddcffcffr😡😡😡😡😡
In the UK we only get the 1.9 Engine WHY
Surprisingly even with the lower torque and power out put its faster than the new Hilux and almost as fast as the 2.0 litre Ford ranger 😅
I want hilux conquest 2021
I bought it already...
Me too
Cheers 🍻
Would you recommend? How is it?
@@wiankevisser6534 Basically 1.about pricing is reasonable when compare new Rooco in thailand cheaper Rocco around 2700usd. 2 Durability from my direct experience more than 30 year between both brand almost same I mean durability. 3 fuel saving all new dmax 3.0 average on road around 14 KM/L speed 120km/Hr. Engine RPM at 1800. Any details that you would like to know may I can explain more details after real used it.
When’s it’s coming to India?????
We want this model in india
Isuzu dmax vcross is in deplorable condition here in India. The 2020 model has not been launched yet after the stringent emission norms were implemented, the previous model had engine capacity of turbocharged 1.9 Litres producing merely 150PS.
as an Indian we must agree that ppl are behind ultimate suv which is not even rwd we ppl really donno how practical is cab pickups
@@safiyaali6758 ISUZU seems an exception in India (more like GM) but, Force India Motors is consumer centric when I shot them an email regarding Gurkha BS-VI, I also shot two emails to Isuzu India regarding the Vcross dmax but no replies from isuzu. I got replies from Force people at the higher level (Pune) to my queries and although my State doesn't have a Gurkha outlet the Force people are ready to deliver me the Gurkha BS-VI at the city of my choice.
it is like copying a sierra and then pasting the old escalades infotanment [in interior]

How much prize
How many people want to put a pallet in the back of the Ute. No matter what car they are test driving they always come back to the ranger. A Ute that is loud 10 speed and not very comfortable as a Ford person I’m not sold the ranger being loud and price. I hope the new d-max gives Ford a run for their money.

My 2013 max has done 350k ,solid as a rock, very good on fuel 1100ks on a tank...
