    Here it is: your comprehensive guide to the all-new D-Max.
    We've given the new Isuzu D-Max 2021 model a thorough workout in this video review, spending hours of time driving it both on-road and off-road. And for this video test, we've got both Senior Editor Matt Campbell and Adventure Editor Marcus Craft to give you their thoughts on the new D-Max ute.
    There's certainly plenty to consider: the 2021 D-Max is all-new, with a new engine, new transmission, new chassis, new body, new interior - and new technology and safety gear that push the Isuzu Ute from pretender to contender.
    Our test covers off variants in the D-Max range, including the SX, LS-M, LS-U and X-Terrain, with pricing details and more.
    Stay tuned for more Isuzu D-Max reviews, including an Adventure review on the LS-U, an Expert test on the X-Terrain, and a Tradie test on the SX.

  • @everist22
    @everist22 Před 3 lety +14

    Why would u say the SX is ‘not as accommodating off road’?. As far as i can determine it’s off-road capabilities are exactly the same - better in fact - smaller rims to hold ‘bigger’ rubber (comes with 29” AT - I’d fit 33’s), tunable engine, etc. With a snorkel, 2” lift, canopy, bull bar etc I think the SX auto, dual cab is the best value and capable pick of the bunch

    • @Naessey
      @Naessey Před 3 lety +1

      everist22 I was wondering the same. If you were buying a dual cab (with as many features as you could), do you still think the SX is the best bet if fitting springs, canopy, tyres, roof top tent, storage draws, etc? Cheers

    • @everist22
      @everist22 Před 3 lety +6

      Carl Naessens Hi Carl - personally i want all the 4x4 benefits and don’t need the top spec add-on’s like leather seats, electric seat adjustment, front parking sensors, 18” rims, 9” screen etc - because I’m going to modify it for 4x4. So the $10,000 or so difference b/w the SX and high specced model, for me, is best spent on lift, bull bar, canopy, tyres, snorkel, diff breathers, engine tune etc

    I have the spec just below x-terrain, brand new been driving for a month now (at about 1k kms) and while it is a genuinely beautiful vehicle, and despite the various safety features, I have never felt more unsafe in any vehicle I have owned. More times than I can count I have had this thing slam on the brakes in an 'emergency' situation (no one was in front of me directly, it had detected a car that had turned and was already well clear) almost caused a pile-up. It has yanked the wheel out of my hands while switching lanes on the motorway when nothing was in my blind spot. And the censors seem to pick and choose when they want to go off - sometimes even when nothing is present. Also, on multiple occasions I have been in a situation where I needed to quickly nip through an intersection or into traffic, and when I put my foot down to give it gas it has had a complete dead spot, almost like it is bogging, where it completely loses power and momentum, and then it slowly drags itself back up to speed. This has almost caused me to be in 2 different accidents. Beautiful truck, but it makes me nervous.

      Apparently the Dmax produces 300Nm from 1000rpm and maximum 450Nm between 1400-2600. From other reviews, the auto transmission swaps cogs so it stays in the meaty part of the torque spread. So, should be efficient in the sense that it makes the most out of what it has, which is what really matters.

    It is a nice UTE (call it a Bakkie in SA), but the offroad was a sissy test. Please do a hard offroading test, real hard. a Normal 4x2 Bakkie can do that road. Go do rock climbing, thick mud, thick loose sand, steep incine and declines through tricky terrain where traction really count.
    Want to se a full comparison between the Ranger Wildtrack(2.0L), Top of the Isuzu's, Hilux, Raptor, Amarok, BT50, 2021 Navara/Frontier and maybe the Triton. On road yes and definitely a hard offroad test. Also include the Cruiser. Another one can be Jeep's double cab Bakkie (UTE). The Cruiser and Jeep are normally harder and will like to see how the soft offroadera compare. That is a test I don't want to miss please.

    The infotainment is designed not to fiddle around when the car is moving. So I don’t get it why it’s almost the same complaint from the reviewer. I thought they figured it out.

      They have been that way, isuzu is understressing the engine way too much, probably for durability reason. A simple ECU remap take care of it easily.

I got replies from Force people at the higher level (Pune) to my queries and although my State doesn't have a Gurkha outlet the Force people are ready to deliver me the Gurkha BS-VI at the city of my choice.

A Ute that is loud 10 speed and not very comfortable as a Ford person I’m not sold the ranger being loud and price. I hope the new d-max gives Ford a run for their money.
