- Today is how to make a patch on embroidery machine, yes your embroidery machine. I go through all the stages and supplies I use to make custom patches with this patch embroidery tutorial. How to Make patches is really easy, it’s just getting the sequence right, to get that perfect embroidered patch. Custom Patches are awesome because you can apply the patch to almost anything. From custom sewing a patch onto your garment or heat pressing a patch which I do in this video. You can even make hat patches or cap patches, how awesome!

Love this video! I have a 15 head machine that I'm learning to use and with helpful videos like this, I'm well on my way. Thanks!
DAMN, the step which you took it off is smart as hell!! Just bought my first machine and I was struggling to find a solution for patches, you nailed it!!!
Amazing, Master!!!
Thanks Daniel. Appreciate it!
Super cool thanks! 💥👍🏻
Sweet patch! Like how you make these videos interesting. Along with the comedies
Thanks Victor! You rock man, made my day! 😀
The video I’ve been looking for

This video was very helpful.
I did a patch a way with the water soluble topper. folded so was thick, hooped did a patch as normal and peeled away. Came out really good and as the toper is clear, you cant see the edges
Really nice video well done 🤜🤛
Awesome Sir
Thanks Mohammad ;-)
Great work What machine do you or recommend ?
Any advice on how you can make a butterfly patch wings stick up on the actual shirt or hat?
Awesome work Mike, thank you for sharing your skills with us!
How has your Melco held up? We are in talks now with them and Barudan for our first machine.
Thanks Mike
Hey Justin! Thanks for the comment. Melcos have been pretty good, I don’t think any machine is without flaws though haha. Sounds very cool about your new first embroidery machine. I looked at them too, let me know if you get it 🤘
Thanks!
Love the patch...hope you are finally out of lock down. Great video. Do you by chance sell that design..I just think its so cool and woukd love to make a patch or 2..thx
Olá te acompanho do Brasil! Não entendo o que fala mas aprendo como fazer os bordados. Sucesso!
Hey! Thanks for the great video. I new to the embroidery scene but am looking for a machine to do some embroidery on shirts/hats and making patches. I want to see my designs come to life. Is there a machine you'd recommend?
awesome video mike would say 18,000 stitches great content you should try plastisol heat transfer on that grease proof paper
Thanks ST, that is hot on the answer! you been looking at my print? haha. Thanks for watching 😉
Nice vid. Try floating the fabric on the hoop. makes it easier to cut before border. Cheers
Nice job, I’ve been trying to get my hands on a merrow machine to do the edges. Those suckers are hard to find.
This involves sewing - me no sow haha, thanks Tommy ;-)
Felt plus paper stabilizer? what do you think to embroiderying patch only on nonwoven fabric instead?
What kind of stabilizers did you use? Just medium tear away and the fusible cutaway?
What’s the machine you use? Great video man and great looking patch
How durable is the iron on application ? I know it may not last as long as sewing but just to get an idea?
Im a beginner do u sell some of your designs for the usb embroidery. Thank you for tutorial awesome 👌 .
Week I can’t remember it’s been so long
Hey Mike thanks for the help just one question what's the name of the iron on stuff that you put last? I've been looking for some

Great video were can I get the adhesive backing from?
Hi Wendie, thanks for watching! I really love those machines. Which software do you use to digitize?
Do u know of any embroidery machines that it's only purpose would be for Boarder/edges on a photo image patch that you print out? Wanted to do alot of in memory patches but dont need expensive machine, hey thanks.
What material did you put on the hoop before the felt?
what type of iron on backing do you use?
Great job, where did you get your embroidery machine?
what kind of stabilizer do you use?
where can i get the adhesive velvet to purchase
5 months later and here is South Africa we still in lockdown 😂
Eeeesh, well I think we are. almost going back in again, yirrrr ;-)
What fabric do you use to make a embroidered badge
whats the best home embroidery machine under 2k? I had the pe770 for a while but i want an upgrade
Hmmm, I would be looking more at a pr650 but may have to be second hand to bring it under 2k. Something I’ve wanted to research for awhile, but that’s where my heads is. Good colour options, low service fees and easy to adjust settings.
what backing do you use? my backing is too thin i think. it will tear, so when i cut away the fabric i have a gaping hole. at the side ...
Good morning !I like to start embroidery business and I need your suggestions. what would be the best machine to buy
I am new to these, what machine do you think would be best for making back patches? Like MC style?
So many machines, but Melco's are great!
bro can i have a question?
i just want to know what is the name of your embroidery machine
-from philippines
thankyou so much
Hi what kind of machine are you using? Thanks!
What brand heat press is that?
Do u do custom patches ???? You can do like 5 of them for me no problem with that machine ... any way you can help me ?
5 may be a little pricey as it will take on all the setup costs, but send your design over so we can see it. Thanks ;-)
Was it 2 layers of tearaway you used with the felt? P.s love the video! Thanks!
Hi Laura, you can you 1 layer, if your design doesn’t hold in registration use 2 layers
@@KeeponCreatingTV Hi Mike, you've recommended Iron on to people in Amazon links but it's clearly tearaway - can you confirm?
@@colourfulgenes Hi There, it's cut away backing to stitch the patch and iron on in the last stage for the glue part of the patch.
@@KeeponCreatingTV You've said it's tearaway here though and I would agree with that as I've never used a cutaway I could tear like that 😬 I'm just confused, is it cutaway, tearaway or iron on you've used on the initial design as you've now said it's all three?!
@@colourfulgenes I use a tear away backing when embroidering the design. After this when you have torn away the tear away backing and you are left with the patch only, you can then go apply the badge backing. I don't use cut away backing.
Do you make custom patch orders?
what black backing do you us? for us in USA
I’ll see if I can find a similar version
How much does your set up cost? Are you able to make patches in a bigger size?
That final satin stitch border doesn't unravel once you rip away the stabilizer?
Nope, make sure you do a suitable tie off on the inside of the border 👍
Is there a difference between using felt vs tweed?
Felt is more "Fluffy" and tweed will be flat / smooth and thinner. You'll have a more in register embroidery with felt, but it can embroidery exactly the same with tweed. 🙃
I like This machines . .
They are awesome. Thanks for the comment
Hi Mike,
What is the backing on the patches please.
Thanks Anj
Hi Angela, not sure where you are based but these are the 2 options:
For the Uk / Europe
amzn.to/3iaemem
For the US
amzn.to/2BQ1MjH
Thanks
Mike
Keep on Creating
Thanks Mike
Where can i get the sticky paper for them? So i can iron it . Whats the name of it?
Tried to copy and paste, but couldn’t, I’ve put the links in the top comment and in the description 😉👍
do u intend to make ur limited patch into mass production
Would be great to take it into mass production
How much is your embroidery machine? Where can I get one?
could a cheaper (under 1000) brother machine do this? I want an embrodiery machine for persoal reasons, just enough to produce from an image, and make a small patch. again, hopefully under 1000, and it can be any.
Yes, absolutely. I make used to make patches on my SE400 all the time. I actually watched this video as a reminder since it's been a few years since I've made one.
But how much is the machine and who makes it?
1 year later and still on lock down - Canada
Very Harsh, I was actually just reading about Canada, are only grocery shops etc open? We have just come out of another lock down.
Omg I just watched your vid... any chance you do custom patches with your machine .... please help me and let’s talk numbers
Hi Angel, thanks for your comment. Yup we can create custom Embroidered patches drop us a line with your design to hello@mytshirtprinters.co.uk so I can see what you are looking for. ;-)
Do you digitize your patches yourself?
Indeed I do 😁
@@KeeponCreatingTV I'm struggling with a digitizer to understand what I need for patches im trying to make. Could I contact you for more information?
What machine did you use?
Hey Hope, it's a Melco ;-) Thanks for the comment
Awesome, thank you so much!:)
How much are these materials?
Maybe around 20k? Stitches?
Hey What kind of embroidery machine is this
Hey T, it's a Melco 👍
Patch looks killer. 10,000 stitches?
Thanks Joe! Oooooo, luke warm on the stitch answer 🙊
@@KeeponCreatingTV OK OK 1 more try. 15,000
😅one more try. It's warmer…
@@KeeponCreatingTV 18,537. no no wait.... 18,536
Oi you been looking at my print outs too! that's the closet so far. Going to have to make a comment not to look at others reply's 😅
Can you place that on a hat
We are in month 8 now.... pain.
Sewing is an important life skill, I would suggest learning the basics
3k stitches
lol funny his twin was in the office lol
11,500.
9000 stiches?
Ooo, got to go higher 😉
Going on 51 days lockdown
Crazy hey, just worked out it’s been 7 weeks here since they started 😳. Hope your keeping well and healthy.
@@KeeponCreatingTV thank you, same to you hope all is well with you and your fam. Here in california where I am the social distancing seems to be working.
@@KeeponCreatingTV one more question, what kind of backing was that you used for the adhesive backing?? Thank you again for your video.
@@montereybaymurals Hi Montereybaymurals, it called 'thermo foil' or 'thermo film'
@@KeeponCreatingTV thank you!
17k-20k stitches.
Isn’t it easier to just embroider this on a actual shirt? I’m thinking about buying a melco and learning embroidery.
Also i suppose this is how those champion t-shirts with the C logo on the left hand sleeve are embroidered as well since they are heat press patches.
Much easier to embroider straight onto the item, but some people want patches 🙃. Yup Loads of companies use patches to stop the fabric puckering. Thanks for the Comment 🤘
"just 2 weeks to flatten the curve" LMAO! what a joke..
How to talk not how to emboss
You want to start a embroidery 🧵 business. Low key . Just for people with disabilities
How is this showing how to make a patch with "my" embroidery machine? We only have a simple home machine, not a huge industrial one like yours. Your tutorial title is misleading.
Hey Artfulness, you can still create patches. on single colour embroidery machines. Exact same sequence just not all the color. Thanks for the comment.
You talked all this time
