- Montserrat is a must-visit for most tourists when in Barcelona or the Catalonia region, Spain. It has a natural park with many hiking trails and we hiked Sant Jeroni, the highest peak of the Montserrat region after visiting Montserrat Basilica.
It is around 60 kilometers northwest of Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia region and easily-accessible by public transportation.

Luckily there is a cable car to the top. The monastery looks spectacular, both from the outside and inside. The view from above is wonderful

I love a cable car ride and man what a view it gave you 5 minutes of heaven! I loved the Gothic Montserrat Basilica, what an impressive place to visit and good tip about buying tickets early in the summer. Wow those were a lot of steep steps you had to climb but man it was so worth it for the view you got, absolutely stunning, cheers Alan

Hello. Great to hear about your upcoming. It depends on where you’re coming from . Once you’re in Barcelona , Take a Metro to Plaza Espana then take the FGC train R5 to Montserrat , then take either the cable car or funicular going up the mountain .
