That sleeping bag kill is Kane Hodder's favorite. There were many more times that Kane "Jason" beat the girl in the sleeping bag against the tree but the MPAA cut alot of it out.

I remember seeing this flick with a group of guys and everyone laughed at the sleeping bag scene. At this point in the series, everyone was watching it to see what creative new ways Jason would come up with to kill people.

This is the first Friday the 13th film staring Kane Hodder as Jason Voorhees. My favorite actor that played Jason.
Interesting fact about Kane Hodder is that he's not just an actor he is also a stuntman. He does all of his stunts.
Tina's doctor is played by Terry Kaiser, an 80's actor famous for playing the dead body of Bernie from the Weekend at Bernies series. Two guys use their dead boss as a prop, making everyone think he's still alive in this slapstick comedy!

The voice at the beginning was Walt Gorney, the actor that played Crazy Ralph in the first two movies.
Also, they filmed the sleeping bag kill with multiple hits, but the MPAA cut the hell out of this movie, so we only got one.

"Never Hike Alone",
"Never Hike in the Snow"
and "Never Hike Alone 2".
Way better than MOST of the cinematic films and has a few surprises along the way.

Fun fact: the dad was supposed to be zombified, with a waterlogged look and everything but for *reasons* they chose not to do that.
also... Because of the MPAA we got several neutered death scenes. Many of the *off camera* deaths were supposed to be far more gorier.

probably my favorite “mainline” Ft13 movie. I feel like Tina doesn’t get enough love as a protagonist. something I noticed is that this probably has the most sex scenes out of all of them, but could be wrong. it’s a shame you haven’t seen “THAT” Stephen King movie on the channel yet. the evolution of Jason’s outfit is probably best shown here, with the shredded back, chain, and damaged mask.
Only thing that stopped this from being one of the best is the ratings board. The kills were butchered no pun intended

This is the first movie I ever saw with Jason, so it holds a special place for me. This is also the first movie with stunt man Kane Hodder as Jason, and he’s widely considered the best Jason, for good reason. Maybe you saw it; he moves and acts differently from the ones before him. You can feel the rage and hate he feels for his victims, and you can sort of see the wheels in his head slowly turning as he closes in on them, thinking about what he’s gonna do to them. Supposedly, he got the role by scaring the people observing him during the audition. The story goes, everyone auditioning had to put on a cheap plastic hockey mask and walk around like they think Jason would, so they could see who moved like they wanted Jason to move. Kane moved around like they wanted, but just before he stopped, he walked over to the table where the judges were sitting and, being a huge guy, he grabbed the table with one hand and threw it up against the wall, with the hockey mask still on, scaring the hell out of the audition board and making them realize they’d found their new Jason.
Tina couldn’t control her powers because she was confused by them and needed to direct them by focusing her mind and her emotions into what she wanted. She didn’t mean to kill her dad or bring Jason back, it just happened. When she started attacking Jason, she was so pissed at him for killing her mom, she used that hate to finally direct her powers on a single target. It was a great case of unstoppable force (Tina) against immovable object (Jason). The reason nobody made a big deal about it for you is because Jason later ends up fighting Freddy Kruger and Freddy’s powers make Tina’s look like nothing, so it’s not such a big deal in the fandom anymore. Jason has taken a LOT worse than anything Tina threw at him.
Tina’s dad came back with a fully fleshed body because that can happen within the rules of whatever supernatural forces surround Crystal Lake in this series. Remember the end of the first movie; Jason came back as a dirty but fully fleshed kid at the end and pulled Alice into the water. So that can happen. Jason just doesn’t do it anymore because he doesn’t need to; he can function even without a healed body, plus his corpse appearance freaks his victims out even more, making them panic more than they normally would, making them easier to kill.
Tommy and Tina, the two arch enemies of Jason. Imagine the both of them taking him on one last time.

When I was a kid around 13 years old,, I first saw this and I had a crush on the girl who got thrown out the window. Who you mentioned had great legs.😅❤
For me the end has to be just in Tina's mind. She envisions her father saving her so for a moment she sees him there. In reality she probably just used TK to wrap chains around him and drop him back at the bottom of the lake.

There were a couple close calls on the set. One was the part where Tina dropped a roof on Jason. Can't remember what went wrong exactly, but Hodder got hurt. Another time was when Jason gets hit in the face with a lamp and falls backwards. The stairs were a combination of breakaway wood and solid oak. When Hodder fell back, his head nearly landed on the solid oak.
the original idea for this film was "Jason vs Carrie" and it received a huge budget and lots of promotion IIRC. A lot of the cast were also very well known with the hopes that their stardom and the budget would make this a blockbuster.

Voice Play Fact: Veteran actor Walt Gorney who played Crazy Ralph in the original Friday The 13th (1980) and in Friday The 13th Part 2 (1981) returns as the voice of the narrator during the opening of this film.
MPAA Hacks Fact: Director John Carl Buechler has publicly fumed many times over the years about the number of edits required by the MPAA to avoid an "X" rating. The film had to be submitted nine times to the Motion Picture Association of America before being granted an "R" rating, and it stands as arguably the most heavily censored entry in the Friday The 13th'l franchise.
Hot Take Fact: Kane Hodder said he had difficulty with the scene where he kills the camper in the sleeping bag by bashing her into the tree because the dummy and fake blood inside was heavier than he thought it would be. The scene required a number of retakes because he kept swinging as hard as he could but no matter how hard he swung the sleeping bag he couldn't get it to look right. By the final take, he was so fed up with the situation that after he dropped the bag he kicked it angrily. This is the shot that appears in the final film. In retrospect, Hodder said that was one of his favorite "kills" and he later recreated it in Jason X (2001).
Make-Up Shenanigans Fact: During filming, Kane Hodder's dressing room was a quarter of a mile down a dirt road. One night filming ended at 2 a.m. and while still in the Jason costume he decided to walk through the woods on a path to his dressing room. As he was walking someone approached him and asked if he was with the movie. He didn't reply, because he thought it was a pretty stupid question to ask, as he was standing there in full Jason costume. When the man asked again, Kane took a little lunge at him and grunted. The guy took off, tripping and running. The next day director John Carl Buechler told Kane that the local sheriff was supposed to stop by, but he never showed.
Also 3 of the actors in this film would end up on the soap opera Days of Our Lives

Staci Treason (Jane) would play Isabella from 1989-1993 on DAYS and Kevin Blair Spirtas (Nick) would play Dr. Craig Wesley off and on from 1997 -2022 on DAYS

Kane Hodder wasn’t in my favorite Jason film but he is definitely my favorite Jason. IDK why but Hodder’s Jason feels like a Mike Tyson of slasher villains. Probably bc of the next sequel (NO SPOILER!)

As mentioned, this is Kane Hodder’s first outing as Jason and the man is IT!!! One horror film series staring Kane as the villain that I HIGHLY recommend after Friday is Hatchet. He plays Victor Crowley and he is basically Jason, on meth, and seriously pissed off! Too much fun!

This is one of my favorite installments! I love the telekinesis aspect of it. It’s different and changed the game up a bit. Jason’s look is also one of his best. The next one (Jason Takes Manhattan) is a fav too, and the one after (Jason Goes to Hell) is REALLY WILD. 🤣

Jubilee is actually very powerful. Her powers are not really fireworks but energy plasmoids that she can detonate on commands. She was young weak and didn’t understand how to use her powers in the 90’s cartoon. Later on Emma Frost trained her and she could level buildings. Also had the potential to detonate matter on the sub atomic level equal to nuclear fusion bomb. Long story short, don’t be dissing my homegirl. 😆😜

When you find out that the Dad was originally supposed to look like a Zombie himself, and the kills went further; on top of the fact that the majority of the Male Cast was Gay, it makes it that much more crazy. Oh, and the original idea was for this to be Freddy vs Jason. This is still one of my favorites to rewatch though.

Unironiclly my 2nd favorite Friday movie. Obviously Jaxon X is the best (or worst, but most fun lol) I love the first 4 movies, but after that they got progressively worse imo until Jason Lives and New Blood came along. New Blood being my favorite of those two of course.
Unfortunately, this was a heavily censored version. The uncut version didn't pass the MCAA, but had a lot more gore. The doctor was sawed in the gut more extensively and his guts were flying.
This one was notorious for how bad the MPAA forced the director to cut the death scenes to get an R rating. There was actually a petition to release the director’s cut. Some rough footage still exists but it is not possible to restore it apparently. I can’t remember where I seen it but I can say the kills were a lot more brutal.
Don’t have high expectations for part 8. Although it does have one of the best kills in the franchise.
After all these years I never understood, when Tina takes her father's gun out of the desk drawer, why does she make that face like she just got a whiff of dirty diaper as she hands the gun to Nick?
This one wasn't my favorite script-wise, but it had the best special fx makeup for Jason out of the whole franchise.

Paramount Exec made them change the makeup at the end and the sleeping bag along with other kills were cut a lot. The next two wont be good for you but X for kills and all that is a lot better. Than the Friday the 13th reboot is basically 1-6 smashed together without super natural things.
