Enjoyed it! If I could make one suggestion, would be to use more on-screen indicators. It was frustrating when you pointed at the monitor instead of indicating on the video. I can't see what you're pointing at!

Very nicely explained and appreciate you putting perspective into the topic, being that deadmau5 is using basic synthesis here. It's how he uses it that makes it beautiful and compelling. I had already seen the deadmau5 video referenced, but you did a nice job of breaking it down and simplifying the techniques. Why in your opinion does this sound better in Serum than in Massive for instance? Higher quality oscillators?

If you want it to get real big use longer notes, Automate the decay as well, keep the levels under control as it's all opening.
    Side chain of course

This was really explained in a simple and Logic way. Lots of thoose dudes that just loves their own voices and just blabbles and dont really explaines anything. Man, you have great pedagogical skills. (and ofc the software/nerd skills) Best regards, New Subscriber

One thing you left out, that he does a lot. Is he also automates the decay/sustain on the amp envelope, and sometimes on the filter envelope too. - Though I know you're just doing this based on the video you linked where he went over the sound at a very high level.

c'mon friend, if u undestand the very easy concept, u realize that in every synth u can do it. It's just an ADSR routed to the cut-off of a LP filter... On sylent just choose 'filt AB freq' under the ADSR slot menù below ADSR itself, 1 or 2 its the same... Then just adjust the amount to your taste/ear/needings. Synthesis basic level...

well, i mean ok if he felt as though some people might not understand whats going on, but the patch is like 4 clicks away from the default serum preset and then with a delay and EQ. i guess just having a 10 minute video to explain that seems a little ridiculous

Why do many people think Deadmau5 created that sound? Most likely if you're young in your 20's you have no reference to go by. This sound started coming out in the 70's through 80's and even early 90's. You can see it in openings for documentaries when showing production credits. Also your local public 11 channel is full of those rapid 32nd notes sounds and what not. Try youtube to look for them and listen to them.
