    One of two things usually happens in producing music. You listen to your own beat over and over on repeat until it starts to sound good, or you listen to it on repeat until you decide it sounds like shit, delete it and start over! Lol

    I just love the way how Joel waveringly moves the mouse around (as for example in 5:34), seemingly having the perfect sound already in his head, undetermined where to begin and which knob to turn in first. This is what you can observe in interlectually gifted people, overeagerly solving problems. Brilliant guy!

      You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. His sound design is extremely simple, his melodies are pretty good I guess. But dubstep producers probably spend THE MOST TIME designing their sound out of all producers since the bass is like 80 per cent of the track.

    • @hiddenfoxe1494
      @hiddenfoxe1494 Před 4 lety

      I Em Gote very wrong. dubstep is naturally a very chaotic genre. there’s no right way of making it but most of them just throw a bunch of growls into a loop and call it a day. very rarely do they use 1 patch as a continuous phrase

    • @iemgote7249
      @iemgote7249 Před 4 lety

      HiddenFoxe 1 That’s the point. The patches successful dubstep producers use are individually very intricate, and all of them together make for a whole lot of sound design. Sure you can just throw some random growls from a sample pack together, but that’s most likely not going to fit right with whatever the sample selection may be. Your point is valid, but not when it comes to good dubstep producers.

      I haven't had the chance to use any other sequencer so can't really compare all the features, sorry. From what I've seen in other sequencers, it is pretty much the same, just a different layout. It's suited to pretty much any task too. Recording and tracking, production, mixing, mastering and editing audio for video (although you are forced to use a specific Apple .mov codec with specific encoding settings to be able to play back video smoothly). The only thing I dislike is the fact Aero theme in Windows needs to be enabled by default, so it's using unnecessary resources.

      @@justalpha9138 Saw him in Toronto doing a 1am to like 6am show shortly before he released this album. He played a lot of tracks off this album....Can confirm what JustAlpha said. If you ever get a chance go listen to him drop this live in a club where you can really feel the bass and hear all the little details. When its mid drop and cuts the drums and bass to go "Dun Dun Dun" at 2:58 when none of us there had even heard this song once I was like wtf is this masterpiece. The weight of that intro synth is heavy, don't think most realize how heavy it gets in the low end. Its up there as one of my fav deadmau5 songs. BTW can not recommend enough seeing him do a long after hours set.

    What if someone takes his idea as he's making it? Do the names of the tracks with the dates protect him? Those can be changed though, so is there a log in which you can see how many times/when/and what you changed a track name to? Otherwise I really don't see what's stopping anyone from stealing a live streamer's music.

But there are some good public sh101 emulators, the d16 lush 101 is a notable one. There is the TAL Bassline 101 (there's a decent free version of that too) but some say these aren't the best emulators. Also there is a Roland sh101 vst that comes with system-1. Hope this helps :)"
