Just found this channel and it's awesome. My wife and I dream of living in Hawaii one day. We started vacationing in Hawaii in 2018, been to Oahu and Kauai multiple times, will be back in a couple weeks. We fell in love with Waimanalo our first trip, after every place else we have been, Waimanalo is still our favorite. Laid back, slow paced, beach, hiking, all that we need. Get some Ono Steaks and Shrimp then walk down to the beach, that's a perfect day for us.

It looked like you were passing the property that used to have the old house from "Magnum, P.I." when making those remarks. I heard that B.O. bought it but was not sure. The house should have been left alone.
Aren't those areas home to some major military installations? Doesn't that affect vibe/etc?
Unless you are calling Oahu in general an area, "major military installations" are not in Kailua, Waimanalo, or Hawaii Kai.
Either way, the communities are not impacted by military people in such away that local neighborhoods or the "vibes" are ruined. Most live on the installations. If anything is affecting the local cultures and locally-owned businesses, it is the tourism industry and corporations.
Waimanalo is pretty much real Hawaiians its the opposite of westside nanakuli but much peaceful 😂

It's a shame that people want to shy away from hearing observations by calling them "political." It is a huge part of life and the critique Maila gave should be just as welcome as someone else's critique about anyone else.
