- THE LAST DAYS OF SUMMER LAMBING 2019
Finally into our last week of this lambing group. What started out with a few hiccups, has smoothed out and become one of my more enjoyable lambing groups.
In this video, I tube fed a newborn lamb not doing well, I successfully fostered a triplet onto a ewe who lost her lamb, and my sweet friend GOAT (the sheep) finally gave birth!!!
Stay tuned until the end where I share the final results of this group!
Not my worst, but still lots of room to improve.
Let me know if any of you breed for June lambs!

As always, thanks so much for watching!!

the black lamb at the beginning with the bucket on his head is me during school
LOL!!! I can relate!
Jinx Inks 🤣🤣🤣
Jinx Inks
I relate to this on a spiritual level!😂😂😂😂
Heheh that is funny
Jinx Inks I fell you
I love watching the lambs running back and forth when the moms are eating I could watch it all day!!!
13:29
Black baby with bucket on head: "MARCO!"
The other sheep: "POLO!!"
LOL
I love how that black lamb has her head stuck in the bucket lol. That was too adorable!!!
I've never worked with sheep but you are quickly becoming my favorite CZcamsr, live for your videos!
Pod - DITTO!!!
I realize this video is from 2 yrs ago but was wondering if you ever felt sorry for exspecially the baby sheep knowing their whole life that's all the room they will have to run.
I dont raise sheep...never will.... I raise rabbits. But I came across your channel and I love it. Lol. Keep up the great work.
Thanks!
Um, same meat or pets?
@@michaelmcneer1214 I sell for pets mostly. I raise meat rabbits for my family though. I breed 8 different breeds. I have over 100 at the moment. I have a Facebook page. Beards Bountiful Bunnies.
I raise meat rabbits & researching abt sheep till I stumbled here. Great channel, very interesting & informative. Keep it up!
Used to, try for pets, but I can't control what happens after they leave. I'll admit, if there's a large leftover, they'll often fill our freezer.no, our girls weren't happy with us about that.
Going back and trying to remember all my fav Goat video's and rewatch them. I know people love Billy, but Goat always and will always have a special place in my heart.
I look forward to your videos. Thanks for taking the time to include us on your daily routine in the sheep business. My wife and I have 4500 White Dorper ewes and 6500 Boer Goats so we have to graft many babies on moms that are not theirs. We have stanchions where The mom can lay down stand up , drink and eat but cannot turn around and push the baby away. They’re similar to a lambing jug but have a head gate. We leave them in there for about five days and when we let the ewe go there’s a 95% chance that she’ll take the Lamb as her own.really cuts down on bottle babies and mastitis.
Thanks so much Mike! I really need to look into these!
Sandi Brock
It’s likely that you’ll be able to use the panels you already have and just either build or buy the headgate panel. We turn them loose on the fifth day and keep them in the pen so that we can see they motherd up. If not we will put her back in the head gate and give them a couple more days. Best part is each baby has their own mom and the ewes have a baby to love on. Works great on goats too and they are not the best mothers compared to the ewes. Again thanks for all you do
Mike
It's so sweet how the baby lambs play..and your dog shure gets her excersise...
Hi Sandi! I don't know which was more delightful, the lamb with the bucket on its head or your smile when talking about Goat's lamb. Enjoyed your video -- keep on farming!
that one lamb's name must be pail face lol
i was thinking bucket head
LOVED the "lampede"!
I love watching your videos, especially the lambing ones. Honestly, I just can't get enough. The lambs are so cute and watching Kinsey act a fool in the background is so entertaining.
Hey there, greetings from Nova Scotia ! As a larger scale sheep producer myself I really respect what you're doing with your channel. It takes a lot dedication and time and not to mention guts to open the doors of your operation to the internet. Keep up the good work !! The industry in this country could use some more ambassadors such as yourself. Just curious where you got that bottle that you used to try and feed that lamb at the beginning of the video ?
The bottle I believe I got from Farmer's Farmacy www.farmersfarmacy.com/gc/gc_page and I think maybe Brussels Agri Services sells them also...www.brusselsagri.com/
Congratulations on 150 vlogs & more importantly a successful lambing.
Will be looking forward to Sophie's comments 😉
Thanks Murray!!
The little black lamb in the beginning… oh my gosh! How sweet!
Thanks Sandi , nice statistic of lambing , very useful .You are my best sheeping teacher 👍🙏 👏🌹
Another great video. I love how quiet your ewes are.
I really love the video and my neighbour has 209 sheep and 6 cows really love the lamb and that black one with the bucket on its head it was really hilarious
They can be so silly! LOL
I think I finally figured it out. Your farm should be considered a "factory farm" but you give it that personal touch that ALL farms have. Doesn't matter if they are 'factory farms ' or us small farms almost all of us care for all our animals the same. Keep up the good work!
Ok, the lamb with the (manure basket?) on his head was TOO FUNNY!!
I can't stop hearing the lambs yelling 'MMMAAA'.
It sounds like that!!
That dog is drinking WAY too much coffee !
LOL I agree!
I figured she snuck a cappuccino while she was off video
Congrats on the final lambing results. Such a more encouraging set of results compared to the challenging winter drop. So much less work with the ones being hand fed as well.
The black lamb with bucket on its head! The other lambs were quite unsure of it.
I love your videos so much i look forward to them and when im done i go back and rewatch several of my favorites
You’re doing a great job love watching the videos 😊🇦🇺
So funny how your dog flys over the feeding thing
Its so fun editing these videos and watching her... I pay zero attention when I'm working! LOL
Sandi Brock what’s the feeding thing actually called
@@trishameloling2367 we call them feed bunks on our ranches around here in eastern montana. not sure if it's the official name lol
Great results in this group! Room for improvement always and deaths aren’t fun but overall in the heat and with pregnancy toxemia, job well done!
I love the joy that you get from lambs
Wow looks like a big success. Can't wait til the next video. Love your channel I am addicted lol
I've seen alot of video's of lambings where the lambs are " pulled " and had difficulty with this. I do see why you do this because you are a larger operation that needs to save as many as possible. The problem I have is when it's a home operation of 2 to 5 mothers where the owners get impatient with the process and " pull" too early and reach so far into the mother, I'm surprised they aren't damaged. If I weren't too old, I'd love to be the " night keeper " to be there at night while everyone else sleeps. To be there to help when there are problems as well as bottle feeding the weak ones. I think even if I weren't paid but just given room and board, I'd do it. I really love your video's and I see a lot of dedication and the care you have for your flock.
Those little twins are so fluffing cute!
I don't keep sheep but I like watching you 😁 you're rockin' it like a boss !!!
Funny and sad video. We couldn't believe how big that last lamb was.
I enjoy your musical accompaniment! Music makes us forever young!:-)
Always a great joy watching the babies and I learn many new ideas for lamb farming. 👍👍
Thanks!
Shame about the 2 losses- kudos for trying to save em!!! Amazing, how aside from this, summer lambing is just not talked about. Of course I wish more places would do it, since I, as a trip bus driver, have difficulty finding time to travel to a lamb farm and cuddle/ bottlefeed baby lambs during the school year. Of course I wish more of these trips I drive would visit lamb farms. That way, if you did have a lot of bottle babies, you'd undoubtedly get eager little helpers for that!! After all, what kid in the right mind wouldn't enjoy that; the wiggling tails are instant reward enough!!! 9:12 a handy little tidbit!!! The periodic baa's of baby lambs in the background are tooooooooo much!!!!! :) Thanks for sharing this!!
Love your videos and always look forward to the next one.👍🐑
Thanks so much!
The lamb with the bucket on its head made my day. 😂😂
Everything is so demanding I am in awe good vid
My favourite CZcamsr of all the time. May the God bless you in what you
Your correct ,large litters ,higher mortality ,litter of 8/9 pups usually you’ll loose 1or 2
Thanks for new vlog. I really love to see your videos
You are a very god Birth/godmother ! I know it is farming and part of the JOB, but you appear to have a large heart for all these sheep, Koto to you!
Thanks John!
The black bucket sheep had me rolling 😂😂😂
Your hair looks so vibrant & fresh!
Seems like the more experience & knowledge you gather, the easier this lambing thing gets for you. Great job! Much continued success on your lambing expedition. P.S. Saw your Canada Day pic of you & the family downtown T.O. on FB. Hope you had a wonderful Canada Day. 💜
Such a great time!!! Thank you!
Lambing is just starting in New Zealand - one of my neighbor's ewe had twins yesterday - they are outside but I bet he is hoping that the rain would stop
Good information & very good working sandy God bless you......
Hi Sandi. I love your videos and have become a binge watcher. Do you deal with shearing? I’ve noticed that you have some sheep with some nice fleece. Spinner here. The baby with the black and white head is a cutie. Thank you for sharing.
hi, i love the way you take care of yours flock, big hugs from mexico
We're not completely sure yet (lack of usable data) but we have better statistics in warmer weather (I.e. better claim, better up and gain) than cooler temperatures. I don't know if it's them or me but we all seem to have more fun when it's warm. Extreme heat is just as difficult as extreme cold imo. Great end to this season for you! On to the next one!
Seeing this mad me laugh! I had a black suffolk x ewe who put her head in a (feed) bucket and "wore" it just like that little black lamb. Sadly we lost that ewe to bloat a few yrs back. Love the video's Sandi :)
that beginning made my evening🤣🤣
LOL!
Loving your videos!
Thanks so much!!! Been so busy I need to have a marathon run of your vids again. I’m getting the popcorn out. Nice to see you not freezing your t£tz off for a change! 😂🤣😂
Right?!! Love summer lambing for that!!
The CIDRs are like a hormone tampon. Lol.
Jess Jess you are now my best friend. 😂
@@farmlifeisthebestlife687 :O sweeeeeet!
Best simplistic explanation yet, thanks!
I exhibited 3 lambs when I was in middle school and figured out I need to stick to cattle so I wish you luck
Oh, that black lamb with the white tail! Be still my heart!
Sandi.
Direct Weather has said some bad weather coming your way, with some Lake Effect too.

i was wondering when she'd make an appearance :3
now i know her story :3 awesome
I just love the lambs. Your dog is hysterical constantly aggravating the ewes. Girl you go. Do you think you could squeeze one more job into your life? Burn that candle from both ends. Just make sure it never meets in the middle.❤️🐑🐾🔥💤
LOL. Thanks! Yes... my dog is a nut... and the middle of the candle gets very thin. 😉
A video about how you handle the environmental aspect of the barn, heating and cooling would be interesting to me personally. Happy Canada Day.
Great idea!
I love watching your videos thank you for sharing
Hey Sandi, two things that we do with babies who have been in the Canal too long is; we use a turkey baster to suck all the fluids out of their nostrils. Weak babies have troubles expelling fluids out of their lungs and quickly drags them down further. Secondly, we towel rub them vigorously, helping to “wake up” the lungs and heart. Gl. On a side note, I ❤️ baby piglets, (love, love, love) but your baby lambs are awesomely cute!!!!!
What a beautiful sheep
I hope i could work at your farm soon after graduation, a fan from the Philippines that loves sheeps and your vlogs.
God bless you from Michigan
love your videos so much!
Thanks so much Jessica!
I'm also love u r video's mam,and also planning to build big goat form...soon.917207798640 from India
Awesome video like always 😁
Thanks Tony!!
Love your work
Thanks so much!
As long as your getting singles of first timers, that's a plus
What type of paint are you using to mark the lambs? All the ones we have used always fade out within a few hours or so
Omg love your channel

Cannot believe the amount of work you have to do with your sheep. I guess we are spoilt here in Australia as there is a much bigger population of sheep but less involvement. Cheers and good luck.
I toured a sheep farmer from Australia a couple years ago, and she said the same thing! She couldn't believe how much I handle the ewes during lambing. Likely a whole different game if out on big stations then in a barn situation? I'd love to go over there and visit!!
@@SandiBrock You would get a shock regarding both numbers and space. Mostly the sheep are only handled a couple times a year. Cheers.
The way you build the barns in the states are so cool, I would like to have such this here in Morocco, and your breed is so amazing
boudouar ismail Pretty sure she’s in Canada not the states
@@claireochsner6270 oh okay thanks Claire

Fascinating watching your channel, your ewes look in pretty good condition, bit to good for me, can cause lambing issues.
Last lambing I did just over 4000 ewes, I think from memory just over 135%.
When I was younger my father did over 9000. Totally different farming though..
@ Rob Ward, that is alot of sheep. I cant imagine the feed and pasture that must require and the manpower. Even on a cattle feedlot with machinery and tmr mixers, 4000 is alot to feed everyday.
I love your vids so muchhhhh😍😍😍😍🐑🐑🐑🐑
Thanks so much Torie!
Sandi.
I observed you using a Refractoe tool to check the ewes milk suger level in bricks. Note you can use that Refractoe tool to check your hay brick level too. Please Take Care of your self Plus Be Very Care Full around all Farm Equipment.🐑🐑🐑🐑
I love watching your videos, just seeing all of the sheep makes me smile. Do you keep all of the lambs? Do you plan on keeping the black one with the white face? Its so funny to see the collies jumping around in the background every now and then. Hope that all is well with you guys at the moment :)
Elizabeth Rose I'm assuming that they send the rams off as either market lambs or wait until they're ready to go. I'm sure they do the same with the ewes, but they probably keep some and sell some as breeders/market lambs.
Love yr Vlogs thanks for sharing
Thanks Denise!
Love the vídeos my Favorite
all the best for you
The baby with the bucket lol 🖤
Gotta love the buckethead lambs!
13:32, ah yes, just like my college days. At least that's what I'm told. I don't actually remember those episodes . . . :-)
Bravo congratulations. WoW 🤩
I love the lambing.
So do I... Best part!
So good.
The dog is very nice and happy
There is always that one kid!!
I've found that taking the hind legs of lamb & you do a quick spin around in circle & it should remove mucus.
Verrry nice 👌 work
I think it has improved quite well 😊
Thanks Roxanne!
Sandi Brock would like to watch my videos on CZcams
I like your videos so much
Thank you!
Suggestion on fostering lambs. Put your Ewe in a head stanchion so she can eat, drink and lay down, put lambs with her and let them nurse etc for 24 hours. by then the ewes milk will go through them and they will smell like her then. before you turn her loose put baby powder all over her and the lambs.
Also, what's the best turn table that I can weight and trim feet with? And should I cull my ewe that had triplets?
Nifty little trick about that ewe heat thing! Hope it worked. Man I would love to get 2 black and 1 splash females and 1 all white male from your babies! Just have to finish the barn though.
Hello sandi.
I love deze work😉
Hello sandi
Hi Sandi.. excellent results.. i thought you were gonna move onto Steel breed?
Is it true that your main business is growing grains? And sheep farm is actually your side business? You are almost by yourself, you have other main business going on and you still excel in sheep farming! :)
Goat looked so different with her first lamb than her last ones! 😩😭😭😭😭😭😭
