Social media influencer Summer Wheaton involved in fatal Malibu crash

Social media influencer, Summer Wheaton, was involved in a Fourth of July crash in Malibu that killed another driver and critically injured the man's passenger.
It happened last Thursday night on Pacific Coast Highway, just west of Carbon Canyon near Dead Man's Curve.
Several news organizations reported the social media influencer was at a star-studded Fourth of July party, just prior to the crash.
Here's what we know.
Summer Wheaton was driving a white Mercedes Benz eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway.
Police say she crossed into the path of a black Cadillac Escalade and her Mercedes crashed head-on into the SUV.
The driver of the Cadillac, Martin Okeke, 44, died at the scene.
The victim's passenger survived with major injuries and was taken to UCLA Medical Center.
Summer Wheaton was also seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station is investigating the deadly crash and possible causes are speed and/or alcohol.
Keep in mind there are no charges at this time and the deadly Malibu crash remains under investigation.
Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu is known for deadly crashes.
This stretch of PCH is one of the only roads through Malibu and it's heavily traveled by locals, tourists and Pepperdine students.
Four of those students were killed by a speeding driver just last October.
After that devastating crash, the city of Malibu declared a local emergency for Pacific Coast Highway.
The PCH Taskforce is now working to make the road safer between the McClure Tunnel in Santa Monica and the Ventura County line.
Let's hope that something is done soon to make PCH safer for everyone.
