As a first-time full-sized iPad user who keeps their Apple products over several years, I chose the M2 Pro because I wanted as future-proof a CPU as possible, and the hardware upgrades and better battery life over the Air 5. Sure it’s overkill, but I’d rather buy nice or buy twice, and have something that has me set for the next few years. What puzzles me is that unless they are made of money, why do people think they need to upgrade their iPads every year? These CPUs are made to be overpowered now, so as iPadOS gets inevitably more demanding, you’ll have a chip that’ll run fast for longer.
And then the iPad Ultra* comes out this year. What now? Apple will most likely make it new design for next 5 years to follow. Not this 2022 model.
Well said Chi-Town California. People choose to upgrade annually and are upset when the improvements are “minor”.

I’m typing this on my iPad Pro 11in 2018 and it works fine for me but I won’t upgrade to m2 coz I know its power is useless for me. Will just wait for next gen ipad with upgraded hardware. Processor now are overpower already even on 2018 iPad Pro. What now?

I was someone who’s only “computer”was my iPhone 12 Pro. So I got the M2 ipad 12.9 and I’m in love. I have it set up as my home computer with an anker tablet dock and all the extras like mouse keyboard trackpad & pencil. Heck I even got an Xbox controller to play games with it. 👍
Replaced my +5 years old 12.9 iPad Pro with the M2 version., and really glad I did. Now I can even run DaVinci Resolve on it utilizing the power of the M2 chip. Hopefully soon, more pro apps will be offered, together with an even more optimized operating system.

I just got my M2 iPad Pro which I updated from my 2018 iPad Pro. The difference is actually staggering. I’m an illustrator using Procreate and I would recommend this iPad to anyone using Procreate on an older iPad. I absolutely love this new iPad.👍

My iPad is Air 3. So the upgrade to M2 11 in is going to be a game changer for me. I love my iPad. I do everything on it so I can’t wait till my new one comes.
Aug 2023, iOS 17 has updated stage manager that works really well now. Apple pencil hover feature is a god-sent for painter. Love it.
coming from an artist that hasn’t had a ipad before, i feel like i need to get it tbh- im going on a trip and drawing is something i do alot on the plane and paper is so annoying to bring and my birthday is coming up so im getting it as a birthday present from my dad but like yeah

My problem with videos like this is when I got the M2 IPad upgrading from the 2017 pro, I think it’s amazing. I still use the 2017 and it still updates to the newest OS. Anyhoo, this model is a musicians wet dream other than no audio output but my dock takes care of that. Excellent video with less negativity towards comparing the last model, which I do not have. I love the new iPad granted it is my first 12.9 but 5th pro. It is an excellent investment IMHO, for my purposes! peace
I don't have an iPad but have been looking for quite some time. I'm was leaning at the 5th gen air but would rather spend a little more and go with the new pro. Do you still like your purchase or would you go with something different?
@@killjoy0484 Get the new 12.9" iPad Pro, you will never regret it. I am looking to replace my 2017 model. I just love it. The screen is beautiful, the sound rivals some stereos, and the refresh rate is so fast. I hope you went with it!
Does m2 hover feature work with iPad pencil 1st generation?
The hover feature is a huge deal for me for photo editing. It’s worth it just for that feature. Plus, future use is a major reason to get this. I’m not made of money and don’t upgrade an expensive device every year. Instead of being cheap and getting with the intention to upgrade, which will actually cost MORE over time, I get the best I can afford so I don’t spend more later. Makes sense to me lol.
I use Lightroom with this iPad everyday. How you use hovering with Lightroom for example ? Thanks

How’s battery backup?
The M2 iPad Pro taken in its own vacuum is a brilliant device and although very expensive, is a good choice for those with disposable income and simply want the best. Of course, when you widen the spectrum it becomes obvious it is niche and will sell in low quantities due to how well older iPads have lasted. This itself is why it is a good choice, future-proofing. I can imagine that in 3-4 years the M2 will still be fast enough for anything new in software.

I am thinking of upgrading to the 12.9 inch I have a 2020 11 inch however I teach post secondary philosophy and I like to comment on papers with the iPad but the 11 inch is a touch small for this. The draw back is I keep my lecture notes on my iPad as it is handy my concern is the 12.9 inch would be too big for this. I have a laptop I am not looking to replace I just think that it might come in handy for for marking papers. In theory I could get a 12.9 and not sell my other one but two iPad pros seems wasteful . What are your thoughts?
I just found your comment and I have to say, your use case is very similar to mine. I'm teaching language-related courses at the university and I also use my iPad primarily to mark papers. I had an iPad Mini 6 but it's definitely too small. I'm considering the Air and the 11 inch pro, but after reading your comment, I'm beginning to think that even an 11 inch screen won't cut it. Which 12.9 model are you looking at; the M1 or the M2? I think M1 is an overkill already for what we're doing, but then again, the M2 is more future-proof...
@Ariff Imran I used the university discount to get an m2 12.9 inch. It is certainly overkill for my use case in terms of computing power, but I very much appreciate the added size for marking. The screen is also nicer. In terms of the weight, yes, it is heavier, but I got used to it pretty quick. I would recommend the 12.9 if you have a similar use case.
All you CZcamsrs assume we normal people have the latest models I got news for you. This is the first iPad I’ve owned since the air 3 so I’m very excited just ordered it today. My son owns the iPad 9th Generation it’s super fast so I can’t imagine what this will be like.
I’ve been waiting for new iPad Pro that has a capability to work with premiere pro, Final Cut Pro or Da Vinci Resolve editor alone. We all know that Apple would not allow this anytime soon because it really affects to their MacBook line up if this thing happened. Honestly speaking editing in iPad or even iPhone is very convenient compared laptop or desktop on my opinion. Though Da Vinci resolve is coming to a new iPad Pro but still have some limitations. I’m still holding my back of getting this one until all I wish is happening.

I love the hover feature I paint on my iPad everyday... although I loved my m1 with no hover feature and still enjoyed painting on it, I really really do enjoy the upgrade as it's super nice to draw/paint with the M2

@@krystian_art_ I prefer the 12.9 to draw on I had the 11 first a few years back but noticed I wanted more screen real estate. I do have a mini 6 also for all my normal tablet things as the 12.9 is a little big to use in bed to watch CZcams videos and it’s a little heavy to hold in hand for a while my 12.9 basically stays on my desk I only use it to draw/ paint but I do recommend it for sure it’s the best digital painting experience I’ve had and the fact that all you need is an Apple Pencil makes it so easy to get started I have been doing so much art just because it’s so intuitive.
I want an iPad with mac os
I would like to ask for everyone's opinion since I'm not really familiar with apple products. My first ipad is a hand-me-down Ipad Air 1 with 32gb. I found it good for watching and studying but the problem is the limit in storage and I cannot even download google apps that I need for school because of its iOS 12.
I've been watching a lot of ipad reviews but I'm still torn among 3 choices: ipad 9th gen, ipad air 5, and ipad pro M2 11"
→ WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK WOULD BE BEST FOR ME BASED ON THE FOLLOWING FACTORS?
1. I'm currently on my last year for pre-med and we often study on pdf books or files/transes since physical books are too expensive. By winter season I would be enrolling on review centers (online based)
2. Most of my free time is spent watching anime or series for long hours
3. I often use canva to design stuff for school and work as a page manager for a business
I would really appreciate hearing your thoughts or suggestions since the money I'll use to buy the ipad will come from my own savings. THANK YOU!

Uhm? How can this be a long term review when the device was just recently released back in october (roughly 2 months ago). 🤔💩.. it is still relatively fresh and within the return policy. Long term reviews are at least 6 months to a year with heavy daily usage... This is not by any means a long term review 🤷🤷💩💩

As an artist this over features could be the only reason I would buy this iPad, like damn it's feel like a graphic tablet but portable 🤯
As a fellow artist, no..hover doesn't exist in traditional pen and paper. So having it or not in a tablet doesn't change anything. A great feature, yes but a game changer, no. Will saving 1-2 seconds due to the hover feature worth the extra cost? No, i doubt it.
@@nanodesu9031 Actually, it does come in handy if you're doing painting, though I will concede that hover is definitely more of a "nice to have" than a crucial feature. For painters, you need to know where your brush is going to be and how big the brush stroke will be upon entry. I have some experience painting on an iPad without hover and it's pretty difficult because you have to first memorize the size of the brush after you pick the brush size, then you have to guess where the brush will be on the canvas and this becomes exceedingly harder the bigger the brush you're using. With hover, it eliminates that issue entirely as you can see exactly where the brush is and how big it will be (tried it out in the Apple store, it's amazing for painting!).
It's a game changer, but it's only a game changer to very specific people and their use cases. I do agree that buying an iPad solely for hover is a poor choice. But I can definitely see a lot of iPad painters flocking to this just for the hover feature alone.
@@nanodesu9031 hover on digital devices is important due to the glass screen, you're not drawing directly on the surface like real life, there's like tiny gaps that appear different based on angles... However my old arse Samsung tablet from 7 years ago has the same feature, so I can't believe this is one of their "breaking news" selling point.

Apple is able to add multitasking on iPad Pro but they don't want to add this feature on iPhone Pro ?🤨 You want multitasking => Buy an iPad. Not fair but business smart since it seems everybody is ok with that. This iPad Pro is well design and powerful but not for me.
I like the idea but how do you imagine it on such a small screen?
@@patrykszewczuk8741 Because before buying my 13 Pro, i used it everyday on my 5.6' Galaxy A8 and i also use it now on my 6.55 Nothing Phone 1. It's a feature that can be useful either on a 6.1' or 6.7' iPhone 14 or even a mini. If you think it's not useful on small screen, it's not a problem because it's an option: you can take it or not but, at least, it exists 😉.
It's an option and it's up to user to use it or not. For me, my smartphone is a mini laptop, which means Split Screen on a smartphone :
- Listening to Deezer Music on top + Navigating on Chrome on bottom
- Checking my way to a meeting on Google Maps on top + answering messages with WhatsApp on bottom
- Checking on my Google Agenda on top + answering messages with WhatsApp on bottom
- Clock with a countdown on top + reading a cooking recipe with Google Chrome on bottom
- Reading an article with Chrome + Writing notes on this same article with Google Keep
- Checking my groceries with Google Keep + Budget with Google Sheets
What i like with this feature is that you can resize your top or bottom screen like you want. All those use case are so easy and useful for me. Those smartphones are powerful to do everything we want: why limiting ? It's Apple choice, Apple strategy. I can afford to own 2 smartphones so that's what i did : a great 13 Pro and a good Nothing Phone 1.
I've had an iPad and an iPad Pro (2017). Both stopped charging at about 4 years. Very disappointing. At the Apple store they were able to get my iPad Pro 12.9 to charge, so they offered me a refurbished one for $699. Apple has a lot of nerve to do that! If my iPad stopped charging it would be worth nothing on trade it. I took a chance and I brought it home and it charged for a few more months with a brand new Apple cable and charger, and then it just stopped. Why on Earth would anyone want a refurbished iPad that has a planned obsolescence of about 4 to 5 years? I think the price is way too high for that short of a time. They don't even tell you what was refurbished, so for all I know in a year's time I could be looking at the same issue with the charging port. I am still going to replace mine, just because I love the large screen, but if it happens again I'm looking for other options. Come on, Apple, you can do better!!!
