- This is my first attempt at forging. I tried to remake the legendary Hattori Hanzō Katana. Took me almost 5 weeks to make this video. I spent 2 weeks with the research and learning about Sword making and blacksmithing.
After that i spent 3 weeks to make the sword and the final scene. Many thanks for my friend Zsolt Zlatner for playing the role of the Werewolf.

2 skills i learned during this project:
- how to forge a Katana
- how to curse 10 minutes in a row without taking a breath
It seems like a piece of steel with a piece of wood but it was the most complicated and difficult creations i have ever made.
Hats off to all blacksmiths. If someone would offer me $5000 to make this Katana again, i would instantly say NO. Maybe for $10k..but only maybe. I just understood why some Katanas costs $50k. Maybe i am soft but blacksmithing is a real hard work.

You, sir, are a god among men! You've "branched out" into forging as though this were something everyone thinks about doing - is there nothing you cannot do...? And while your friend makes a fine specimen of a werewolf, you are certainly fit enough to have played the part; though, perhaps, after tossing around anvils like papier mache, you we happy to have someone else do all the hard work of acting. Thank you for all that you do, especially your dedication to precision and craftsmanship.

Thank you :) I think they are not hardened. They must be flexible for many reasons. Hardened steel is breakable
@@Mokso that makes a lot of sense! They would need to bend and give with changes in temp and the weight of trains going over then. Hardened steel can bend (European swords), but thicker pieces like the rail would be too stiff and could fracture.

yeah blacksmithing is EXTREMELY hard and tiring work, and also takes so much skill and experience to do good. its easy to say handmade swords especially katana are too expensive until you see what they have to do to actually make them at such a high quality. even forging small knives is very difficult work and forging is really an artform.
yes :) If you are a tough guy, try blacksmithing. You will change your mind very soon :)

Amazing job. Forging is so much fun. I’ve only done it once myself but I really enjoyed it when I did. It can be tiring though. Btw, do you have the name of the music at 4:04? I know it’s random but that music seems familiar to me but I’m not sure why.
