- Today I'm going to forge Scythe a pole weapon used by military. Couple of years back i forged a scythe with a different design, you guys loved it, so i decided to make another one with a new design so here it is.
This time I used rusted iron chain Link to forge it. I believe iron of chain is quite good to forge something big and strong. I hope you'll enjoy it and share it with everyone and let me know your favorite weapons from history in the comment section. If you enjoyed video give it thumbs up and Subscribe @OLDSMITH to never miss any update.

Check out I already made another scythe couple of years ago. Here is the link: czcams.com/video/vCn6xhzZlII/video.html
Thanks for coming.
You do know that you put the sharp end on the blade on the wrong side, right?
I love the blade bud but that theres a khopesh. Not a scythe. Again i say gorgeous work but it is a tad mislabeled there friendo.
you are too good to be forgeing at home
I'm a simple man. I see the word "scythe", I click it.
Same
?
Me too
I love scythes, my favorite weapon.
It's the shape of a scythe, but it's not really one. The inner curve is suppose to sharpened, not the outer curve. You just made a medieval battle weapon.
Yeah, I agree with you. Scythe's inner curve should be sharpen but I'm not going to cut crops and I made a weapon so I sharp it's outer curve to make it practical weapon.
Hope you understand.
Thanks for commenting :)
🤓
@@OLDSMITHIt’s like if a khopesh and a glaive had a weird baby
May not be a scythe but it is cool
Hypnotic watching an old chain link become a thing of beauty. Great work.
Glad you enjoy it!
So, just as a point of order, it would be a poleaxe. A scythe would have the blade on the interior of the curve, not the outside. No matter what, it is a beautiful fantasy piece.
At this point he has a whole arsenal
frrrr,if someone tries robbing him, dude can just pick up a scythe or trident and make the dumbass that tried run in fear-
seriously,a guy with enough free time to turn a wrench & rusted chain into SCYTHES is not a kinda guy you should want problems with-
@@EllyAnim1954 is the robber pick up a weapon from his arsenal then that would be a dual
I just wish that in another life I've studied ironworks just to make things like those
Dont wish, get started in this life...thats what im trying to do, why shouldnt you try something that interests you?
Never too late to start!
I like how this would be a good basis for a decorative Egyptian Khopesh
I have no words to say how beautiful your work was. As we say here in Brazil: YOU KILLED IT! Congratulations .
arrasou
This weapon would be much more imposing if it had a blade on both sides, it would be something much more unusual
I mean that was the intention of turning a farm scythe blade 90 degree up in the first place, a double edged glaive.
@@generalgabrielsatori That would be something very interesting and fun
@@generalgabrielsatori a farm scythe was not double edged though. I've owned and seen many and even in medieval Europe it was the same only the concave side was sharpened. To have it double edged as a work tool would have posed a risk to the person using it . And if you see the old war scythe it is indeed single edged.
That would just be a enlarged sickle then
That does exist
For each like 10 pullups
80 pullups lil bro
Great and fastastic work, congratulations! I would like to see next time two sickles like Maltael from Diablo 3 had.
Scythe one of my fav close combat weapons. I still need to make my black hole scythe
That musta taken quite some time! [smile] Nice dedication, nice work.
Darrow O'Lykos, the Reaper of Mars, approves this weapon.
a masterpiece and a work of art
I feel like this is more of an axe. Don't get me wrong, it's a very cool weapon and the process to make one is incredible. I just think that with the bladed edge being on the outside of the curve, this would be used more like an axe. A scythe cuts on the inside of the curve to pull grass(or a person in the case of a war scythe) towards the cutting edge, like a sickle. With this, you have to cut with the outside of the curve, making it more similar to an axe blade for chopping, not hooking.
Scythe is 2h, sickle is 1h.
@@pryamulWhat does that mean?
@@aidenwallin3523 I was just saying a scythe is a 2 handed implement and a sickle is 1 handed.
@@pryamulThat makes sense. I was just referring to the blade.
Very good work, congratulations friend
That’s cool Man
It’s like a khopesh and a spear combined 😮
Indeed it is very artistic and amazing work! Still can’t believe that it was a rusty chain before 😮
i know this is meant to be a scythe.. but i cannot unsee the Cooper Family Cane when i look at it, still a beautifully crafted piece all the same
I can see it a bit. Definitely something Sly would use
Great work
Awesome brother ❤
Almost like a Halbert/Kopesh. Wonderful
its so satisfying watching something so beautiful be forged
Now THIS… this looks more like a "war scythe"
Great looking Scythe and you did a wonderful job making it as well!!!!
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Awesomeness 😎
Fantastic!😁
Glad you liked it!
Sweet!
all i could think of when you where doing the engravings on the blade was "NO ROOBEER NOOO ROOBEER, ROOBEER NO ROOBEER."
It's surprising that you forged a beautiful military scythe and it's usable, great job!!!😍😍😍😍
Bro would be capable of surviving the apocalypse with just homeforged weapons
Great work!
I wish I had the money to buy this!!! Its so awesome! Amazing work and design ❤🔥
Nice job looks very good
Me after cutting that chain link: 'C is for cookie that's good enough eat, C is for cookie that's good enough for me' 🎶 😊
Finally a historycally accurate scythe
The hard 90 degrees on where the blade goes to tang feels like it'd end up a point of failure from stress buildup
Nice video bro
So on that refining machine (the one with the spinning red surface.) Are those sparks flames or really hot metal?
Que trabalho fenomenal, muito bem feito
Looks a bit like an Egyptian Khopesh. Neat design.
It's like a Kopesh + Nagimaki! awesome!
Love you bro (random hands)
Make tanjiro s/yorichi s blade pls
It strikes me as a Kopesh, an ancient Egyptian weapon, mounted on a pole arm.
That would look cooler as a dagger, also he should make a Grim Reaper Scythe
“Kopesh” for those wondering the real blade name. Still pretty badass
I've just seen the thumbnail but that reminds me to death's sickles in the puss in boots movie
really scythe yeah sure think what you want but that in fact would classify as a polearm axe
It’s a sickle
Put blade on both ends . With a full tang . I do like the looks of it .
2:03 that transition, though
Do you happen to sell the weapons u make? I must say the weapons you make are very unique
It's a scythe but you bent the blade so that it's aligned with the handle and sharpened the outer edge
One piece vid suggestions: what if you make enma katana
technically, it looks like a differently shaped axe but it looks good
I think I would've tried to make it a two bladed scythe to be able to cut from both sides. Don't know if it would work since I'm no blacksmith, but I would've tried :)
any chance that you can make either Rebellion, Yamato or Force Edge from the game Devil May Cry series??
Can you forge a rapier from Damascus steel? Not many people forge and show how they do it, and I would really like to see how you do it.
Klok gagang nya di ganti gagang nya celurit bisa GK bos
I simply wish you put the blade on the other side, woulda looked cooler in my opinion
@OLDSMITH can you make a halberd next?
Next Make thor hammer
this man is getting retee for a z apclis
It looks like something one of the power rangers villains would have.
The absolute banger at 3:18.
That's a big ass hammer.
Gives sly cooper vibes
1:44 I thought coffin dance was about to start playing
Blade edge is on the wrong side of the curve like the shape is close to appropriate for a war scythe or fantasy sickle on a pole handle I mean it still looks good but don't call it what it isn't
Also it would have been smarter to forge the pointed Long blade section instead of just cutting it out sure it might have taken longer but could have done it and then once you got it closer to the desired shape and size then you could have cut it out or attacked it with the grinder and the belt sander
Also the shape of the blade is more like a kopesh from Egypt
Soo many days work just in 15 minutes
Why is the metal glowing red: me bro got the enchant fire 2 on that scythe
you made him bite the anvil 😢
Make more mythological weapons
Positive comment
Love you 3000😊😊😊😊😊
It's really cool but it kinda looks like a sickle instead of a scythe
It's like a Klingon steak knife! 😂
Hi guys, I have a question
What is that white cotton wool in that furnance/pipe at the beginning of the video?
Thanks in advance for your help
It's Kaowool.
@@OLDSMITH thank u si much
Btw awesome job i think i watching u over the year and i'm still Like it so much
That's hot, isn't it?
That looks more like a sickle on a long stick call it the scykle
At 14:46, was that metal spike to re-inforce the blade/crossguard's attachment to the handle in addition to what appeared to be glue?
Awesome video. Very fun watch.
Yes, the epoxy alone isn't enough to hold the blade in place to the handle. Adding a mechanical component prevents the blade from wiggling in any air pockets within the epoxy which could, over a long enough period of use, cause the epoxy to loosen its hold for the metal and the wood.
@@GrinningJest3r Thank you very much for the explanation
Yo make a Blood Reaper (Kusarigama) from Shadow Fight 2💀
😮 esta re pero yo la a mi gusto final lo terminaria en un estilo vikingo o asiatico tambien puede ser una mezcla de ambos estilos ya que tienen buenas cosas 😂😅
Pls making shiled of kratos❤❤
How much would you charge for something like that?🤔
You quenched it but i didn't see you temper it
Aren't you scared it might chip or shatter when it hits something thicker than a tree branch
Beautiful blade. However, I wouldn't call it a scythe, as the edge is on the wrong side of the curve.
How much would you sell for it
Hmmm... if it's millitary graded then should you really be having it 🤔
how much to buy it?
Harry Connick from The Iron Giant, but he's on steroids.
That isnt a scythe thats a really fancy halberd, im not saying its bad because it looks very cool and im pretty sure that can do some serious damage and not to bad of steel either but it is a halberd (poleaxe)
Kopesh on a pole
how much for this
What is bro planning for?
1, awsome blade
2, that aint a scythe boah
Cause ya sharpened just yhe outside, let alone size
Basically a really cool, whacky sabre or thin axe
Although more usable in battle than a warscythe
Is this for sale?
