Trust Me,, This Isn't The Only Thing Yoko Ruined.
Sad but true Poor John
They did mute her mic, but Yoko Ono still kept trying to do her cat screeching anyway LOL
lol never get over the look on Chucks face when Yoko starts screeching. Classic moment.
Lmao right? So funny! You see his face as it registers that something sounds wrong then his eyes go WIDE hahaha
Oh man, Chuck Berry's face is priceless.HAHAHAHA😂
High props to the sound guy for muting her mike
So glad you grabbed this! The sound tech deserves a medal for cutting Yoko’s mic!
They’re singing two of Chuck’s hits- Memphis, Tennessee and Johnny B Goode.
Yoko sang like that every time.
Please don't use Yoko's name in the same sentence with the word "singing." It's an insult to anyone who actually sings on pitch lol.
"sounds like a cat being strangled." you nailed it...we all said that exact same thing back in the day! "Ono...it's Yoko."
They say love is blind, this reveals that deaf may be closer to actuality.
Love is B̶l̶i̶n̶d̶ deaf
Can you imagine no pun intended the noises she made while John was getting it on with her
It is an absolute treat watching your reactions!! 🎉 thank you for a stomach laugh!
That means you are authentic dude! Thank you very much! Lol 🎉
Now you know what Paul,George and Ringo had to put up with when John brought her to the recording sessions!!!!!!!!!!
🤣
Hiroshima’s Revenge!
yes the pictures of all of them in the studio - the 3 guys look miserable
Believe me, no one could figure it out, and this is her actual "singing" voice. John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band played live and actually released a live album with her doing this on almost every song.
i had the misfortune of hearing that awful album. i thought it was a testament to Eric Clapton's strength to stay off heroin after playing live with Yoko Ono.
must have been some top flight pussy!
No one ever accused Ono of singing.
Chuck Berry's No Particular Place to Go is an absolute classic. The man was OG Rock n Roll. I also first heard of this from Bill Burr. His take on this and Antonio Inoki vs Great Antonio are the two greatest things I ever heard from him. Sadly, the video of him talking about the Inoki match is no longer up on CZcams. There is another version but its missing the part where he says "it's almost attempted murder," which is the most Bill Burr thing Bill Burr ever said. I think the one on this performance is still up thankfully.
The thing about Lennon was he would let Yoko do the most bizarre things and not give a damn what anybody thinks. Case in point being this performance. 😐.
yep. Yoko was a trainwreck but i blame John for letting her near a microphone in the first place.
I've read several comments saying that the sound guy who muted Yoko's mic should be honoured as a hero. Also, the other guy playing hand drum on the right is Jerry Rubin the Yippie, and it's my personal opinion that his musicianship on these two songs actually exceeds that of Yoko.
The bar is low……
She looks pleased that little nod like yep 😂
they just 'fuckin' jammed on TV .... you cant see that anymore..these days they do countlesses of rehehersals ,,,,
that was pure JAMMIN ...
Agree. It was just a jam.
Yoko had a habit of ruining things.
You like Burr as well. That's cool. 2:14 "Ohhh Lord" Congrats @SyedRewinds, for a "bloke" you damn sure sounded southern when you said that. Take that from a lifelong resident of the state of Alabama, in the U.S. LMAO
That soundman is a legend for muting her mic lol
Why John allowed her to get involved in his music is beyond anyone's comprehension!
As much as I can’t stand her, she was a punk/ new wave innovator- on the Double Fantasy album. She also wrote the lyrics to Imagine according to John.
Yoko ohh noo!!!😂😂😂😂
This is a actually kind of cool. Who else would do this???? It will not be forgotten that's for sure
Sound engineer should get a medal
Chuck steps in front of her an blocks the camera of her at the end. Too funny!
One interesting fact that no one mentions is that chuck berry was suing John Lennon at the time for stealing his lyrics. It got really messy and I feel like the reason John didn’t react to Yoko is because there was already animosity brewing between him and Chuck.
That's not correct.
You need to look into that situation again and not spread falsities
Yeah, but if you're in Portland, Oregon you can get a Yolko Ono sandwich fro Fried Egg I'm In Love, and it is eggcellent.
She seems so at ease
it was the sign to the engineer to cut her mic
I saw this on tv live. Yes, it was that bad! 🤣🤣🤣
To be a fly on the wall backstage after this nightmare
You should take a listen to Yoko doing (I can't say singing), "Don't Worry Kyoko (Mummy is only looking for a hand in the snow)" - honest this is the 'songs' full title - It was the B side of John's "Cold Turkey" which I have to say is brilliant.
i've heard the live version of "Don't Worry Kyoko" simply dreadful.
I know you are an Alice in Chains fan and I think you should check out their song Don't Follow, it highlights Lane Staley's voice like no other song they did even if you don't post a video for it.
Yoko Ono is 39 years old here. She looks like she’s about 79.
I'm really surprised Chuck Berry didn't turn around and slap Yoko until she shut up! He was definitely making an effort to be agreeable that day since he usually didn't hold back! This is the same Chuck Berry who once punched Keith Richards in the face for simply touching his guitar. Can't believe he let Yoko ruin one of his songs!!!
He looked like he was trying not to laugh the second time she started in on her dolphin noises
Omgosh!! Thanks so much for a full belly laugh
Laughing with you 😄 🤣
Well, the band was named the "Plastic Ono Band", not the Organic Lennon Band. Her songs on Double Fantasy made Bjork possible.
The Plastic Ono Elephants' Memory Band (Poem Band). I think Ono sounds better than that sax. Chuck hardly ever had sax on any of his songs.
@@debjorgo But he had plenty of sax the rest of the time😂
The host is (correction) Mike Douglas (not Merv Griffin) who had a popular daytime talk show for many years. (The early shows were broadcast in black and white.) There's a great clip on CZcams when the musical guest was a very young KISS. In addition to performing with the band, Gene sits down to chat with Mike and his guests, including Toti Fields. It's a great time capsule.
BTW, Yoko was a performance artist before she met John (being descended from Japanese nobility enabled her to live overseas and do that). For some reason, John continued to indulge her, as you see here.
Mike Douglas, not Merv Griffin
He had mommy issues.
Y
@@thomastimlin1724 - Yes, than you. I still still mix up memories of Merv and Mike (because there’s another famous Mike Douglas)
Yesterday the clocks went back one hour. Getting an extra hour in 2022 is kind of like getting a free bonus track on a Yoko Ono album.
THUMBS UP FOR "GRATEFUL DEAD - FRIEND OF THE DEVIL" WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
👍👍 This or Truckin'
It’s Joke Oh! Oh No!😝🤣
I’ve never seen this, thanks for the laugh! 😂 It sounds like she’s trying to speak dolphin.
Notice how Berry sings very loud in Johnny b goode just to preventa Ono to be Heard in case she started singing again
Classic
Your reaction to hearing Yoko Ono initially haha that’s everyone’s reaction. Horror/Shock/confusion haha you asked why would he not tell her…because he NEVER told her no. And if anybody else did then there would be hell to pay. She had this weird control over him. That’s why he had such big problems with Paul McCartney in late Beatles days. And after the Beatles, Lennon was gonna be a guest on Harrisons Concert for Bangladesh and Lennon said “and what will Yoko be doing?” And Harrison said “she’ll be enjoying the show.” And Lennon went off on him, he refused to do the show without her on stage with him and Harrison stood firm on her not doing it.
Lol…. It’s so funny.
You've got it wrong. This wasn't a "Yoko Ono Fail"... this was her at her best.
She didn't have a "bad day" or a "fail".... This is just the way she always sounded.
; )
Unfortunately...
Johnny B Goode is about Johnnie Johnson who played piano with Chuck and co-wrote a lot of Berry's songs. Wikipedia Johnnie Johnson he was quite a guy. Legendary.
Mrs.Lennon
Yoko Ono
Song
People can say whatever they like about Yoko as an activist and an artist, but she should NEVER have been recorded, least of all when John had this moment with his idol Chuck Berry.
What was she trying to accomplish
That gun man shot the wrong person!!!!!!!!!
After listening to Yoko, he might have actually shot himself
WHY DID SHE EVEN HAVE A MIKE?
SADLY, they did not leave it's mic muted!! Yucko trashed the song.
Yeah, a real WTF moment in music history.
That was Yoko in '72. No big deal. I'm sure Chuck knew Plastic Ono would do her thing. The shared vocals of Chuck and Lennon were way off. John's low end was much too loud. Everybody including the sound crew musta' been high! 😂😂😂
John was really pissed off when they cut her mic in Johnny B. Good , you can clearly see how much he was , possibly he and Yoko had the wholew thing planned for some reason that scapes any logic or taste when doing a music performance.
Or maybe just maybe it was planned by John and Chuck as a prank to the show, I don't know I don't think John would do that to Chuck Berry without telling him, because that would be pissing him for life with him, so if John was a Chuck's fan as he claimed I doubt he allow this to happen knowingly .
BTW that wasn't John Lennon as an artist , it was John Lennon and The Plastic Ono Band, yes it was Yoko Ono's band , so she wasn't there randomly , she was the leader of the supporting band of John Lennon. 😂😂😂😂
Love is B̶l̶i̶n̶d̶ Deaf
Not sure of the backstory here.. did they rehearse .. did she make animal noises then too?.. so many questions .. lol :)
This is such a funny moment in time, in such a unique era of music and also crazy behavior and attitudes. She’s probably tripping heavily on acid.
BTW, I know you’re a huge Jimmy Page fan (looking forward to your continued listen to the Zep catalogue) but you can really see how Jimmy absorbed a lot of stage moves from Chuck Berry! But then again, so did a lot of guitarists. Chuck was THE prototype guitar hero. Probably all in all the most influential popular guitarist who ever lived. Also, incredible singer and songwriter. A reprehensible guy in real life, but an American treasure.
I don't remember an image in which Yoko didn't look miserable!
I have a feeling John Lennon had no trouble telling the whole world his feelings, except for Yoko. She is the only one he could not speak to honestly.
She was always convinced her art was so avant-garde that she was above everyone else. Her ego was so over inflated, and it was that ego that got her to the top of the beatles.
yep. and she needed to hear honesty... "don't ever try to sing again. period. end of discussion"
Performing artists v a performance artist. Hahaha.
Syed I say this because I love this channel, I think your insight is incredible, and I am always excited when a clip is posted. But I think you are starting to take some bad suggestions. So, here is a good one. Jimi Hendrix "Machine Gun" Band of Gypsies Fillmore East. Mention this to any guitar player and they will immediately take on reverent demeanor is if the just walked into the Sistine Chapel. You can hear Jets, Missiles, Bombs, Explosions, Mourning, all in the most amazing solo of his career.
Most innovative and finest rock guitar solo ever recorded. He didn’t just play it, he channeled it from beyond. A must hear for Syed.
What's so strange is when I first started hearing yoko's stuff like on plastic Ono band, I remember distinctly disliking it and I was really already into all kinds of diverse music as a musician and a music lover. But then by the time Double Fantasy came out right before John was assassinated, I really really loved her stuff on that. It finally seemed in tune with the times like maybe the times had caught up to her and she was a lot more focused and not just all over the map with that stuff. And she wrote some great lyrics too and I like the way that she delivered them. So it's so bizarre to go back and watch this again, I'd seen it before, and it is totally like watching a train wreck. And essentially it's bizarre because she basically upstages Chuck Berry, that's crazy.
But if I analyze it just as musician? I would have never have noticed it before but basically her pitch and her rhythmic delivery including when she was playing that hand drum, is spot on. I mean I had no idea that she actually got it that much. It's just that the character of it was so incredibly out of place here, laugh. But yeah the song is in the key of c, and on that last little section before it heads back up to the root which is c, they're down on a g or a g7th basically, and they're singing and she joins in on a high d, a d4, then takes it up to a g4, then as the Baseline walks back up to resolve everything in c, she brings it down a fifth from that high G down to c4, matching the whole flow of it perfectly. Crazy.
This is a great comment! Thank you.
@@zennenn Thanks, man. What a strange route I went through start to appreciate her at all. And then I super appreciated her. But here I'm just appreciated her like if it were a more Universal context she would have been like a key part of it. And I think that's the only way she knew how to join in but obviously she passionately wanted to but from a musical point of view is not a train wreck, from a presentation point of view and context clashing from Left Field well yeah laugh that was hilarious.
@@stevedahlberg8680 agreed!
@ Steve Dahlbert, Like you I also liked Yoko's song on Double Fantasy. She was singing instead of doing "vocalizations" like she is doing here. Her songs on Double Fantasy (alternating with John's songs) were good, in my opinion. But I can't handle her vocalizations that she does. Here is a "fun fact" John was in some hotel or club somewhere after he and Yoko got together, and he heard the B-52s singing "ROCK LOBSTER." The two girls that are in the group B-52s actually did vocalizations like Yoko was doing! "ROCK LOBSTER" was a very popular song and when John heard it, he said, "they're doing what Yoko has been doing for years...I think the world is now ready to hear her vocalizations." He said that because "Rock Lobster" was a hit, and obviously the public accepted that sort of sound. But cut her some slack, again, the songs she wrote and sang on Double Fantasy or not that bad, if you give them a chance, you might like them. She is a classically trained pianist, but again her thing was "performance art" which she was doing long before she met John Lennon and was quite famous with people who appreciated that sort of thing, However, THIS performance with John and Chuck was NOT the place to do that, as it just didn't fit. If you want to hear the B-52s "ROCK LOBSTER" it is here on You Tube. I suggest that you watch the VIDEO performance of "Rock Lobster" and also the video performance for their really big and fun hit "LOVE SHACK" GREAT song.
@@patticrichton1135 Oh, I am extremely familiar with it because it was a huge hit when I was college age and beyond and everybody I know including myself owned the album and we heard it all the time at parties and clubs and each other's houses. It was a staple. And yes I can hear those vocal lines in my head exactly.
For some reason I can't exactly explain, I want you to see another of the funniest performances. It's actually great rock, so don't let the adjective "funny" put you off. The song is Black Betty. But NO ONE should react to it unless it's the live version, which was performed in somebody's yard. Just trust me. Ask anyone else and they'll tell you the same: Pick the version out in the grass.
Memphis Tennessee was one of the songs that The Beatles did for their audition to Decca (who rejected them).
It was also one of the songs that they played on the BBC radio shows they were on, and appears on the Live At The BBC album.
Also, check out Yoko's screaming during the Beatle's Get Back sessions (John on guitar and Paul on the drums). czcams.com/video/TCznX6qoSNQ/video.html
And Heather McCartney imitates Yoko czcams.com/video/hBtoiVZN5MM/video.html
yoko was johnnies curse
Omg I blame John for this atrocity. He let her do whatever she wanted or she made him do what she wanted, not sure. But she shouldn't be on that stage to begin with.
Bill Burr's commentary on this is high-larious. Seriously.
Why would John Lennon allow is wife to disrespect Chuck😢 Berry? I don’t get it a Screamin hyena!! No wonder the Beatles broke up.
People forget chuck berry was suing Lennon for Lennon using “here come old flat top” in the song “come together”. This performance was part of Lennon having to pay back chuck. So yeah. Wierd all around.
Well that was a Hoot😂
Every one hated her
Well you have to admit it is quite funny though yoko could at Least use this for a comedic career what's most amusing is she actually thinks she has talent 😂
Nobody ever figured her out, but the personal relationship was solid. Also, John's performance isn't that good, either. She seemed to suck the music right out of him.
Now you know why she's named o no !
The good news is TODAY we can do AI on Yoko and take her OUT of the mix. The second jam is far better since she is out of the mix - even if the guitar is out of tune.(who cares, since Johnny B Goode is great rock and roll)
For another truly wonderful laugh check out Yoko Ono with John Zorn on sax. I promise you it's the worst thing you'll ever hear! Please tell me this isn't included when people say they listen to all types of music.
GREATEST online EYEROLL, ever for YOKO'S CATERWAULING.
That’s a narcissist right there!
That sounds like an injured dolphin or two cats f#cking.
I think the name Yoko Ono is Latin for One Boiled Egg
yeah no one but john liked yoko and i'm not sure he always did
Yoko is a bit loko.
Wtf dude LMAO
Here's my nomination for the WORST ever pop music song: Yoko Ono's cover of Pink Floyd's "Great Gig in the Sky". Take a listen, if you Dare.
He has to watch it. It’s one of the funniest things i’ve watched.
The original cringe
You can't blame Yoko for ruining the song. That's what she does.l
Yoko is a well-rounded disaster
I am by no means a "Yoko apologist" (and her interaction here negatively effects the chance for Lennon and Berry to collaborate, in my opinion), but she was a "performance artist" long before she met John. She focused on making people explore their comfort with art and even had them participate in some of her works (most famous is called "Cut Piece" where she sat as still as a mannequin as random people cut the clothes from her body). I am quite sure John expected her to do "her thing," as he did like to "take the piss" every now and again.
Lennon adored her. I don’t get it and allot of people didn’t. but then, it wasn’t up to us. Could NEVER understand what John heard in her screeching or how she herself could posdibly think it was musical or appropriate in any way
And you don't believe Yoko destroyed the Beatles? Ok she put the nail on the coffin. Terrible.
Did Yoko hate rock and roll, or what?
She's really bad but is no one listening to lennons voice??? Always thought he wasnt as talented as millions of deluded people think he was
I’m afraid it was this crap…and that terrible Plastic Ono Band release that made me write off John’s solo career. Just didn’t pay attention. Had to discover some of the gems later in time. George was the one I loved after the Beatles breakup.
Yoko ruined everything.
