  • Strawberry jello with fruit cocktail.. The memories live on my grandmother made these a lot when I was growing up.. And I too now make this not often.. but its so good and easy peasy..
I doubled the recipe.. and on the fruit cocktail you want to drain it before putting it in jello.
    2 package of jello
2 cups of hot water stir until dissolved
then add the cold water in
    I used an 8x8 dish
you can use what ever dish you want .. or you can make just a single batch..

my grandma always brought the Jello- Fortunately she was around long enough to share this with her great-grands. When she got older and things became more difficult, this was always an easy dish for her to bring. She passed recently, and my kids always say, "we miss great grannies jello salad" today is my Dads birthday, hes 66 and its his first birthday without his Mom. We are getting together for dinner tonight, and I am going to make this. Her famous flavor was orange jello with mandarine oranges. but sometimes, strawberry jello with bananas and strawberries added. Thanks for sharing your video- JELLO LIVES ON IN 2020 in this house :) Be well!

When we were kids, my mom used to add miniature marshmallows to Jello. They could be added right away before the Jello sets. They're so light, they usually don't float to the bottom. Boy, was that delicious! Give it a try. Thanks for the video, Brenda!

Instead of cold water I use a couple trays of ice cubes and stir and stir the liquid will start to become jello and harden allowing the fruit to spread out evenly through the whole bowl then I remove most of the ice cubes and put it in the fridge perfect everytime. I hate when the fruit is at the bottom.

Many young people today are missing out!
Jello was very popular back in my day.
Almost every modern kitchen even had the decorative copper Jello molds hanging on the walls.
Friends of my folks also would serve a green Jello-based dessert w/ Thanksgiving feast, and it had apples & even celery in it...was very good!

Such a calming video, brings back nostalgia of growing up, we would tear through this whenever my mom made some. A few times even in little fancy glasses and we’d toss some cool whip on top! It was such a great treat! I was directed here from google to see if I needed 1 can per 2 boxes of jello and found this gem! Subscribed! :-)

My mom used to make this for us as kids and and also as adults! She would make some sort of trial recipe ( usually something out of a magazine) every Sunday and my sister's family along with my family would eat and vote on whether or not the recipe made it into moms recipe box or the trash can! Mom passed unexpectedly recently so no more family dinners since we've all seemed to notice that mom was the "glue" that held our family together for so long! I totally appreciate this post as I know exactly how amazing it is to take a bite of something or smell something that suddenly takes you to a moment shared with past loved ones! Thank you, but I have one question before I attempt to make this...can I use any of the syrup that I drain and add it to the cold water? Or would that make it too sweet or gross? I was just curious since I remembered moms fruit always being mixed in and not settling on the bottom and someone told me it's because you need to use the syrup, and another person told me it was mandatory to use a glass dish to prevent it from settling! Any feedback would be appreciated! I've subbed to your channel, and am going to give this a shot!

I don't know what happened today. 5 hours ago I used 2 big boxes of Jello cherry gelatin. I doubles the recipe but when I put fresh berries and grapes and pineapple pieces in the large glass bowl of jello I noticed the fruit floated and did not settle to the bottom. What did I do wrong? The jello is still liquid like. I KNOW I dissolved the 2 packs of gelatin in the 4 cups of boiled water. Then added 4 cups regular water. Help!!!!

    • @MAINEiacGrammiesHomestead
      @MAINEiacGrammiesHomestead  Před 3 lety +1

Ok when you put jello in and double It .. You need for it to set up a bit then add the fruit stir and then it should be fine Come morning ..
      ---
      Hello 1 Box
      1 cup cold water
      1 cup hot
      You double right
      So that should of been
      2 cups cold
      2 cups hot
      Right?

You can't use fresh pineapple as it will cause the Jello from setting up. You can use canned pineapple instead, because it does not have this reaction to the Jello.
