Think I’ll try chilling the topping before pouring on fruit. And then top off with shaved chocolate bits to make it pretty. Sounds delish ty
That was so simple and looks amazingly tasty. While, I'm allergic to chocolate, I still make my grandchildren recipes with chocolate and I can't wait to make this one and let them try it!! Yummy!!

Ingredients:
Over low to medium heat continually stir till proper consistency.
14 oz sweetened condensed milk
14 oz sour cream
Optional - 4 oz cream cheese
2 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Chocolate Topping:
In a glass bowl, microwave on low (2 power) till melted.
Whisk to mix.
6 ounce chocolate bar
8 oz sour cream
Optional - 2 oz cream cheese
Fruit: (cut to small pieces)
Grapes, apples, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, raspberries, black berries
Hi again. You’re saying “sour cream” and in the video she is saying “cream cheese?” And if I strictly wanted to use “cream cheese” is 4 oz enough?

I prefer this fruit recipe without the chocolate topping.
The custard is what makes it.

I make something very similar using canned fruit. I strain the fruit juice into a mixing bowl with pancake mix to make the batter.
Butter down sides & bottom of pan, spread out a thin layer of batter, cover with a thick layer of fruit, add layer of batter & top off with fruit sprinkled across. Bake @ 350° for 1/2 hour, and knife check it about every 5 minutes afterwards until knife comes out clean. Use a fork & poke holes across the entire surface, spread 1 1/2 cups of softened butter across the top, bake 5 minutes, spread 2 cups syrup across top & bake for 10 minute, remove from over & let set to cool for 15-20 minutes. Best served warm, but still delicious cold. It’s simple, fairly quick, and makes a wonderful dish for brunch, or cake alternative with ice cream.

Not sure why she is saying cream cheese when the recipe in the description section says sour cream. Cream cheese wouldn't be that thin. Recipe sounds good though.

I've made something similar tring to imitate something my mother used to make (I just never paid attention to how she made it) I used cream cheese,whipped cream and fruit cocktail. I do put it in a shallow container in the freezer until I'm ready to slice it and place it on a plate with raspberry sauce. Mine turned out pretty good and the raspberry sauce is not only pretty, its delicous!

I was wondering about the cream cheese. In the video it looks like sour cream - way too liquid to be cream cheese even if softened I would think? I have never warmed cream cheese in the microwave, would it come out that thin? Thanks for the comment!!

UK I'm an Aussie who grew up on apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums, and grapes. All warm and juice-filled from the sun. While here in the UK for over ten years ( I gave up counting after waiting ten years to go home!) I've yet to find stoned fruit ripened on their trees or vines. Little things like this continue my homesickness but at 65 I'm losing hope of truly being able to return. Sorry I turned this selfishly about me.... I've noticed this huge flaw developing and know I'm going to turn my feelings of grieving around.

Three of my grandmothers made this a lot when I was a kid; they also did a fruit cocktail cake, that started off with the same fruit mix, sometimes oranges added in, they would pour cake batter on top and bake till the cake was golden brown- and they used several topping options for it.
I like the cake batter idea better. Use whipped cream over a thin chocolate glaze...hmmph! Sounds good eh?

I make a similar fruit dessert but I also put in strawberries and blueberries.
Condensed milk and chocolate is too rich for me!
I use the powder of 1 pack of sugar free vanilla or French vanilla instant pudding mix, stir powder in with fruit and the juices. It is is so good!
I love Fugi apples bc they have the perfect balance between sweet and sour. I use can fruit in 100% juice, except the tropical can fruit and the can mangos those usually come in syrup so I get light syrup. I set the light syrup aside and only add it in the mixture of fruit, fruit juice, and pudding powder if it’s too thick.
This is a really good dessert without all the guilt. It will cut your calorie and sugar intake by over half!
I think I will try your version because of the same reason you gave.

We have something in haiti called blan manje and it is very similar except for chopping fruits we use canned fruit cocktail lol and instead of cream cheese we use coconut milk with the sweet condensed milk and no chocolate on top like yours but id definitely love to try it with the chocolate on top like that. Great dessert though looks very yummy!

@@sunny45488 I just remember gobbets (an official term for lots) of whipped cream. Doesn't help much. Sorry. I would go with the sour cream myself. the texture would work better, imo.
@@josie9583 You are probably right.I've never had much luck making cream cheese smooth enough. Also, personally, I find it too cloying. I use it sometimes in mashed potatoes but otherwise not so much.

The other thing you can do since we are all confused about the recipe. Look up the recipe for Flan. It’s a custard using Condensed milk, and evaporated milk and egg. Flan calls for sugar but you wouldn’t need that the condensed milk would make it sweet enough
I've have made Flan my entire life. I never use sugar in the Flan mixture.
