- I don't know the details of this record but this sound is in my old tape which I recorded it in 1971 or 1972. I think the sound was from a radio. Is this from LP record? or live record?
I have written "Isle of Wight" on the tape. - Zábava
The source album for this recording was the 3-LP release: THE FIRST GREAT ROCK FESTIVALS OF THE SEVENTIES: ATLANTA POP FESTIVAL/ISLE OF WIGHT. Released in late 1971. The album was sort of an imitation of the popular Woodstock album release, with 3 records and a red gatefold photo of the Isle of Wight Festival. One other Kris Kristofferson song was included: The Pilgrim-Chapter 33. Other artists included on the album were Jimi Hendrix, Sly & The Family Stone, Leonard Cohen, Miles Davis, David Bromberg, Procol Harum, Allman Bros Band, Chambers Brothers, Mountain, Poco and Johnny Winter.
Barry Smith I have this album on vinyl. It's fantastic. This song in particular.
Ten Years After did a rousing version of I Can't Keep From Crying Sometimes - written by Al Kooper and Blind Willie Johnson .
Wow, sounds great! Thanks for posting! 😊

A 3- lp record set originally on Columbia Records
How did this get Jacked on the Atlanta Pop album ⁉
Anyone able to exactly understand what KK and others say before they start playing? I got that much: "Hey man, we're gonna do, ah, we're gonna do two more in spite of anything except rising fire (can't understand the next word) alright, if you wanna sing along on this one it'd help." "You need help?" (not sure) "It's to the tune of 'Bringing In The Sheaves'." "They're booing 'Bringing In The Sheaves'?" "They're booing 'Bringing In The Sheaves'." "That's all?" "Yeah, and we can't win, right?" Really would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, folks!
Rifle fire, not rising fire.
I wasn't at the festival but I remember reading that Kristofferson got a fairly hostile reception (possibly including the throwing of cans) which is not obvious from the crowd noises on this recording. He was, however, determined to finish his set "in spite of anything except rifle fire". The band express (mock) indignation that the crowd don't even want to hear "a holy tune, man".
Yeah , he says they'll take anything except rifle fire . . . . there is a film of this festival that is well worth watching , and what you're referring to is on the film , there was loads of bother because of the ticket prices and people sitting on the hill watching for free , eventually the fences came down . . i had the film on VHS tape , bound to be on the internet somewhere . . :) .
I was at this Festival 1970 Isle of White he was booed off the stage the day before and they brought him out the next day he was booed off again
@@thomasporett Was two days later and in perfect early afternoon sun. I didn't hear a single 'boo', and I was there too.
