THG Catchphrase Starter Pack
• “I’ve always been a fan of him”
• “one of the best two-way centers”
• “kinda sorta fantastic”
• “goes beast mode”
• “kinda sorta does everything”
• “always gives an honest effort”
• “at times overrated and at times underrated”
• “not going to wow you offensively”

stupid hockey guy with his stupid catchphrases
Corey perry is Shannon's favorite player. Dont let him fool you
Even before he came here ...I never underestimated the worm.
Corey Perry is everyone’s favorite player he’s just so lovable ya know?
If he says Corey perry is his favorite I'm unsubbing.
@@michealranex1839 haha. While Perry was on the ducks he was Shannon's most disliked player and one of the main reasons he didn't like the Ducks almost at all for so long if I'm not mistaken.
Corey Perry should be everyone's favorite player. Who else would think to squirt a bunch of water in someone else's glove?
THG is single-handedly getting us through the offseason
Honestly. NHL alone ain't cutting it right now
The hero we need, not necessarily the hero we deserve

I am seeing a theme here that your favorite players are for the most part all natural leaders on the ice. Players that lead by example and have had success through hard work. Thank you for sharing this lost of your favorite players.
Or are two way forwards
I love when Shannon does the "stupid hockey guy" impression, and then he shadow types. Honestly one of my favorite impression/lines from him.

Crazy how the Rangers went from Lundqvist to Shesterkin pretty seemlessly (from one all-time great to a future all-time great)
The passing of the Crown!!!!!!!!
Loved Val Nichushkin's effort on defense a couple years ago and dubbed him my favorite, you cannot imagine how thrilled I was watching him tear up the ice in the Final this year
Choo-choooo!!!
OH MY GOSH THANK YOU. I've been trying to say Draisaitl is solid defensively, but I get accused of bias because I'm an Oilers fan (which is fair). Draisaitl will never be a Selke candidate of course, but he does take a ton of our defensive faceoffs because he is one of the best in the ring, and when he plays defense he can play defense. He's shown it on the penalty kill with his ability to intercept passes and hit players. The problem is he's smartly decided to expend the vast majority of his energy on offense where he's ten times as efficient, that's why we see times where he looks lazy on defense because he needs to conserve his energy for what he's legendary at. If Draisaitl wanted go 50/50 and become a two-way center, I know he can make that switch and be good at it, but he won't be a Selke winner (maybe a candidate but I doubt it) and he won't be a 50 goal scorer (he'll still get 50+ assists though).

Blueger is 100% gonna make the Pens roster, projections be damned. He's a great defensive player and PKer and Sullivan absolutely loves him
Anyone who thinks Blueger won't play whenever healthy must be questioned. I don't understand that at all.
I follow the Pens religiously and that's the first time I've heard it suggested Blueger doesn't make the roster
yeah blueger is probably our 6th best forward hes definitely playing
I hope you're right. It hurts my heart to think he doesn't.
@@deniesep6120 Anyone who suggests he's not in the regular lineup isn't worth listening to.
That was fun, Shannon. Trying to guess who you would pick based on hearing your comments from past videos was a kick. I was only surprised a couple of times. You are nothing if not consistent. Also, just to echo some other letter writers, thanks for all your videos maintaining our hockey interest during the off-season. Great job!

Kailer Yamamoto is my favorite Oiler for his tenacity. Ryan McLeod may emerge as a favourite, because of his smooth skating and smooth release. His playing style reminds me of hockey stars from the 80s.
Joe Pavelski single-handedly has made Dallas my unofficial 2nd favorite team (unofficial since it’s transient). I have a feeling Ottawa will become one of my favorites now since DeBrincat was moved there. Maybe I’ll get ESPN+ and follow those teams if the Hawks are too painful to watch.
Love the vids Shannon keep it up!
As an American who grew up in Canada I think a lot about players nationalities, so I broke down THG's choices by nationality:
1: Canada and the USA each with 11 players (both with eight forwards and two defensemen)
3: Sweden with 3 players (two forwards, one defensemen)
4: Russia with 2 players (one forward, one goalie)
Five teams are tied at fifth place: Belarus, Finland, Germany, Latvia and Switzerland (four forwards, one defensemen).
Thank you for doing this! Your content is the saving grace of the NHL offseason.

The Ranger history with goal 🥅 tenders is blessed. They just need to protect Igor.
great POV...very much appreciate the hockey insight!

Love your videos and also appreciate you switching up the order of teams during the every team videos.
Really enjoy these kinds of videos. I'm shocked about the idea Blueger may not make the roster I really don't know who would replace him. Also my all time favorite player is Paul Martin, just loved how solid he was defensively. Would love to see a career video for him at some point.
I can’t believe my Hawks traded away Debrincat. Especially for what we got… one of the few bright spots the last few years and he works every shift.
yeah creepy, sorry man - i am not a hawks fan, i would be sickly upset.
As a hawks fan I think he is too good and would ruin the tank for bedard and they panicked and got less value for him

Late to this video. Not even through the first row. I love watching your videos for hockey info because you are really chill and the videos are easy to get through. Your sense of humor isn't forced which is great. But the "if I don't mention Bergeron" bit for Boston cracked me up so hard. That's constantly how I sound when Rick Nash was still in the league, no matter what team he was on.
Yes I remember that about couture! He actually took off the face mask after the second game of those playoffs cause he said it was hankering his ability to play!..He’s a star for sure!

I'm an isles fan, as much as I love Barzy, Beauvillier has been my favorite player since that first year of the two of them. Dude never takes a shift off, works so hard both with and without the puck. Hope we lock him up long term.
We want him in Montreal.
Beau is good but he is very streaky...He'll be great for a week then do nothing for the rest of the month. He's still young but he needs a little more consistency. Hopefully the Islanders will be a little more offensive without Trotz as a coach to see players like Barzal shine
Barzys better!! Sorry, had to do it
Crazy all it took was Griffen Reinhardt to get them both
Beauvilier works hard, but so much of it comes to nothing. I listen to Islander fans and since Beauvilier came into the league they keep expecting him to break out, but I'm afraid what we've seen is all there is. A decent player, but that's all.
I get a feeling Shannon likes two-way centers.
All the buzz around Krill reminds me of when Jagr started. He had a similar response from fans.
Speaking for local Minnesota fans, he was instantly a fan favorite for his smile & his enthusiasm playing the game. He doesn’t take shifts off, we can tell he loves hockey and that’s why we love him.
As far as National audiences are concerned, they can see his skill and his skating, he’s exciting to even casual fans
I love Slavin's game so much. No mistakes, no penalties. He makes whoever he pairs with better as well.
Montreal Canadiens - Carey Price.
Florida Panthers - Joe Thornton / Sergei Brobovsky
Pittsburgh Penguins - Evgeni Malkin
Tampa Bay Lightning - Victor Hedman / Vasilevskiy

Chicago Blackhawks - Jonathan Toews
NY Islanders - Sergei Varlamov
Great video once again! I’m an Islander fan and I’m hoping you change your mind next year and our goalie IIya Sorokin will be your favorite lol We need him to keep up with Shesterkin. Anyways my favorite Islander is Brock Nelson. Had a career year this past season and he plays hard.
Horvat always impresses me everytime I see him play (Wings and Habs fan). Underrated player.
Huge plus for Barkov in my books is he's very humble. Watch him when he scores he doesn't jump on the glass and lay out on the ice like some guys do. Sometimes a small fist pump and some pats on the back of his teammates. Not to mention he's not a "let me get as many points as I can" player like Auston Matthews for example. He does what he needs to do to get a win.
Ha ha !! Love how you don't even try and hide your bias, lmao ! 😆 I hate Matthews (insert criticism) so subtle.
Sharongovich is a great player and as a Jets fan ,Kyle Connor is amazing and Ehlers was my pick for runner up👌🏻👍🏻.
Bergy’s #37 is the first, and only Bruins jersey I’ve purchased, since Ray Bourque (77 & 7). I’m a lifelong Bruins fan (50 years old, and too young to remember seeing #4 play)… 7/77 is my all time favorite, but Bergy is now a close second.
Bo Horvat is a solid choice, he’s so incredibly underrated
Hey Shan, this might be a great video idea for during the season, something like your Top 10 picks for player's of the month? I don't know if you have enough time to string those videos together or not,I'm sure that you're pretty busy during the seasonal chaos
Love these videos, some nice choices here. I’m really loving watching shesterkin rise I agree he’s super talented and just a cut above the rest.
Appreciate your viewpoints and picks on your list, and I would agree the best players are not always the MVP, or nessesarily get the most goals.
Now I want to see who is your All Time favourite player for every team in the league you've watched; Canes get a pick and Hartford, etc.
I love the Jeannot respect here. He's definitely my favorite current Pred. He is quickly becoming my favorite ever, and that's as a Nashville native who has been a fan since they joined the league. He's like Jordin Tootoo, but with goal scoring and some discipline. I hope he sets a league hits record by the end of his career.
Lmao, whenever Cooch looks like he's skating off the ice in pain my best friend and I instinctively yell "NOT IN THE FACE" or "NOT THE TEETH"

Love the Charmin Ultra Soft sponsorship during the Boston Bruins pick
I’m so happy to see that someone else’s favorite player is Sharangovich!!!!!!
Raddysh is awesome. I was sad JBB traded him. He'll do great in Chicago.
In terms of a Hawks player that fans of other teams would love, Sam Lafferty is an excellent watch. He plays with so much speed, energy and heart, it’s hard not to love him. So I’m a little surprised he wasn’t your pick, but Raddysh makes a lot of sense. I personally am a sucker for the guys who don’t necessarily score a whole lot, but that doesn’t keep them from trying harder than everyone else to score. Love energy guys.
You make an excellent point about how often people assume that "favorite" equates to "best" and that is just crazy. I've been rooting for the Montreal Canadiens since childhood, which was back in the 70's. I've seen them win cups and I've seen plenty of Hall of Fame players and yet my favorites (back in the day) were guys like Stephane Lebeau, Mike Keane, Oleg Petrov, Brian Skrudland and Mike McPhee. Sometimes a player catches your attention for whatever reason and bingo, they're a favorite! lol

came for the NHL talk, subscribing for the Paul Heyman name drop lol should get a wrestling channel going next!
I gotta respect your preference for a true "favorite player" over following everybody else and picking the best player. I first became a Canes fan the summer before the 2018-19 season (yeah that technically makes me not a bandwagon fan because nobody thought they'd make the playoffs) and Justin Williams was my guy. Willy honestly has been a guy I've followed since the latter part of his time in LA and I had seen the iconic empty net goal he scored for the Canes and was wanting him to come home so when he did, that's when I made the switch. I want to like Aho, I really do, but the media concentrates solely on him so it's kinda annoying plus he has a penchant for disappearing in the playoffs except for the 2 games in a series where he randomly takes over. If you had to ask me now, it'd be Slavin. I've met him a couple times, gotten to have some good conversations with him, and he's just an all around great guy that deserves to get more love.
On the watching guys live topic. The first time I saw New Jersey play live I was blown away by how eloquently Scott Stevens got around the ice. When you think of Stevens, you think of a bruising pitbull. Watching him on TV simply didn’t do his great skating ability justice.
I'm a life long NY Ranger fan. They called Hank, The King. Since he left, and Igor came into his own, I've been saying, "The King is dead! Long live the King!" I really hope that Igor can be a lifer, and spend his whole career listening to the Blueshirts chant his name at MSG. Cup or not, if he sticks around and his career turns out as powerful as it is going now, we could see his number up there between two other great NY Ranger goalies.
"you should immediately go out and buy as much toilet paper as possible" had me laughing out loud on the train
I'd like to see you make a full fantasy roster using only current players and a salary cap. You can either acknowledge or ignore contracts that are in place.

Jets fan here. You should see Ehlers live. Our Connors are world class (Kyle and Hellebuyck) but it's amazing they way Ehlers can just take over the run of play.
The player I love to watch is Kuch. Just so amazing, every shift.
Just a tip, a clip-on mic would balance your audio out, but other than that the acoustics in the room are good, probably because of all the jerseys
Favorite player as a Blue Jackets fan is difficult, as we have had a large handful of lovable players specifically in the time that I’ve been following them. My big three are Nick Foligno, Cam Atkinson, and Elvis Merzlikins, though Jack Roslovic and Patrik Laine are growing quickly on me.
As a lifelong penguins fan, I’m also a massive Blueger fan. He’s great so hopefully he ends up with a lineup spot. I even got a team Latvia jersey with his name
Surprised he went with Barzal for the Isles. Barzal's amazing, but he's always raving about Pulock and Pelech(deservedly so)
barzal is insane live. you really get to see how fast he is
This would be a hell of a team to play against.
Because of your pick for your 'favorite' Philadelphia Flyer..... GRITTY would like to speak to you.
Listening to everything you said about Tanev, I was convinced you were gonna say Ryan Lindgren for the Rangers lol
Shannon picks his favourites for Shannon reasons. Shannon still loves defence.
based on the players you chose before you got to Colorado, I thought you might pick Makar (after you selected Hedman and then Josi, I was pretty sure you'd pick Makar)! Excellent choice. Not only is he incredible to watch, but he's very humble and seemingly a great young man off the ice. Though, I also thought at one point early on that maybe you'd say Nichushkin for the Avs, speaking of good two-way players who've really blossomed and improved their game the last 1-2 years.
I'm rooting so hard for Donskoi in Seattle this coming season. I loved him on the Avs and really want him to be successful!
Shannon just out of curiosity, what happen to Cal Petersen & Gabe Vilardi for you. When I started watching you those were the only two Kings I ever heard you talk about (which isn't a bad thing).
Definitely looking forward to seeing Copp in a wings jersey!
THG can you make a favorite player of all time for every team, if you haven’t already. Your videos are making this off season go by much faster!
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the Kraken doesn't change from his all time list to his current list (if he's making it now)
Here’s an idea, instead of favourite player. who from each team past or present would you want to meet and have a beer with? You could include management. I say management because I think Shannon vs Jim benning could be fun 😂🤣

Favorite Ranger - Ryan Reaves (Blais)
Favorite Bolt - Pat Maroon
Favorite Hurricane - Coach Rod Brind'Amour (Player Stastny)
Favorite Habintante - Jake Allen (Edmundson)
Favorite Redwing - This one's tough - so many beauties. I guess I'll go with David Perron (Sundqvist)
Favorite Kraken - Jaden Schwartz (Dunn)
Favorite Golden Knight - Alex Pietrangelo
Um, I'm noticing a theme here...
Favorite Blue - Vova Tarasenko (Until he becomes my favorite of another team. Then probably Thomas)
That statement about Bergeron in Boston was strong. I understand quite the fantastic hockey player on a team I don't like that much. I'd take Patrice Bergeron on my favorite team anytime. I wouldn't need to think for very long even if the team was stacked I'd make room for the guy.

Slavin makes all his D partners look better than they actually are overall. Look at Dougie Hamilton the whole league think he's a top D man when he's really trash. It's possible Burns will have a career year this season just because of Slavin alone..can't wait until the season starts and see
Damn, I hadn't thought of that at all, but it actually makes a lot of sense.
Very interesting choices Shannon. Go Avs!
Hey Shannon, I’m not sure if you’ve ever made a video about Viacheslav Fetisov, but I was wondering if you’d ever consider making a “career of…” about him. Thanks!
Can you make a point projections video of like the top 20 or so players who you think will have the most points by your estimation?
'When you see defenceman with a number of teeth that is low. That means his compete level is high.' Classic

This is a story. Awhile ago a friend asked me who the player from minny I liked and I said Clutterbuck and now on the island he's part of a generational line. Good on him!!!! The last bottom 3 line I remember was the grumpy old men and before that was the crash line. So I remember these lines. Have a good day!!
