Dan patch and Mission Brief were faster for their era and the both of them were better bred especially Mission Brief with the entire lineage all world champions all the way back to Ima Lula. Remember they never took Mission Brief to the Red Mile for a time trial. She jogged in a 1:50.3 at The Red Mile as a two year old October 2nd 2013 a record that will outlast any of Secretariat's records. Secretariat never achieved the moniker "the freak of nature" like Mission Brief.

+STANLEY PARANORMAL I feel this would be unfair to owners, who want their horses trained by the best. And the 10% of the purse that goes to a trainer isn't a huge cut, although I realize it's a lot of money when it comes to stakes races. Aside from these issues, unless the best-qualified horses - regardless of their connections - are entered in a race, its results would always be subject to debate.

Racing has lost it's shine to the American public. Crowds are down and track owners trying to get faster times have made the surfaces dangerous to the delicate limbs of today's thoroughbreds. +Amanda Kelly While I acknowledge the agony of three and a half decades (waited 18 years myself, since really learning what the Triple Crown was during Silver Charm's attempt), I question calling it a curse. I say they've let the breed weaken, with all the focus on fractious speed, and that made the Triple Crown that much harder to achieve, similar to England's. On a happier note, a horse came close to winning England's Triple Crown a few years ago, so it can also still be done, if good enough.

I hate they use whips on these horses.. notice there was inly 2 whips used on Secretariat.. Was pissed when I seen it he did not need it. None of them do. This is the problem I have with horse racing. It’s cruel

  • @raygordonteacheschess5501

The Wednesday before the 1981 Belmont, I called into CNN and asked John Campo (who lost 45 horses in a barn fire soon after) if he was worried that a horse like Summing could steal the race. "Never been done," he said. I picked Summing at 7-1 but wound up not betting him, as the night before the Belmont I hit the OTB late double at Yonkers with a 2-1 and 14-1 shot who paid $310.

Van Berg told McCarron before the Race the horse would be in front the entire Race. McCarron was white as a ghost, Van Berg knew it was over then. Owners of Alysheba should've put Pat Day on Alysheba for the Belmont!!
