- One of the consistent drawbacks with the Royal Enfield 650 twins since the 2018 launch was that you had to live with tubed tyres. After a much longer wait than expected, Royal Enfield has finally decided to offer both the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 with alloy wheels that support tubeless tyres.
This is wonderful news, but many people seem to find that the retro charm of the 650 twins is lost with the look of the alloy wheels. That's just a matter of personal preference, if you want a 650 twin but also want the peace of mind that comes with tubeless tyres.
What I meant peace of mind here is, every puncture will be a nightmare on this six fifty with spoke rims. In fact, I've faced the puncher. All of these were repaired with a new tube every time. Also, once you take out the rim, the bike goes out of alignment and hence you've to visit the RE workshop to get it balanced & aligned.
Spoke wheels have their own advantages, Traditionally, spoke wheels are more rugged. They're also easy to repair in case of bends and hence most ADV bikes & Rally bikes come with them as standard. By the bye the choice is yours.
You can order alloys as individual spare parts from Royal Enfield. The front alloy is priced at Rs 7,500 while the rear one costs Rs 9,000. The person would need to buy separate tubeless tyres with the alloys. I have brought tire also from Royal Enfield itself, tyre brand is VREDESTEIN, it cost front tyre 4080 and back tyre 4850, but for the tyre you have lot of choice.
After the alloy and tubeless tyre upgrade, so far i have done 3000 kilometer ride, like how the way I ride previous with spoke wheels, of course the ride comfort is increased, it feel handle bar very light, definitely worth upgrade.

Did you notice any improvement in stability and handling? Thinking about upgrading into alloys bcs for some reason my rear tyre keeps puncturing and may be even causing instability and not let me ride confidently!
Yes there is difference, it's may resulting the type changes, previous using ceat stock one, but definitely stability and handling improved with this setup 👍

For interceptor best option moving to alloys, Tubeless spoke wheels is one good option, RE introduced newly for himalayan, don't go with tubeless conversion kit it's waste of money.
Not sure if it's better than alloy wheels, but I got mine converted with way2tubless in 2022 December and after that I did Northeast and Ladakh Trip with roughly 30,000km . And I am yet to see any issue with it.

Hi, Are those 18 inches? Mine is having Pirelli Tyres I guess those are tubeless tyres. Will it be a direct fit. I am looking for only rear for now.
Yes the Pirelli is tubeless tyre, but RE giving with tube, but latest is not Pirelli, if ur tyre condition is good, u can use it

even I thought same, can use same type, so I ordered only alloy first, then came to know, stock not suitable for alloy and ordered tubeless tyre
Have you faced wobble issue with your spoke wheels…? If yes then compare it with alloy one. If not then fine. How is the alloy in terms of wobble. Are you facing any such issues and how is the overall stability…?
No, I didn't experience any wobbling issues. Compared to spoke wheels, there's a better sense of grip it's may effect of tire change as well, and, most importantly, it provides a more reassuring riding experience. If a puncture occurs, we can easily fix it and continue our journey with peace of mind.

Brother only specific varient they giving alloy default, but other varient you can modifiy it, RE has only one type alloys for 650 twin that you can buy as accessories, tyre size coming both alloys and spoke same.
The alloy model and the one u choosed almost 20k different, if u modify to alloys cost will be 20+, then why can't u go with alloy varient 😊

Bro first u check why u getting wobbling issue, i didn't face such issues even using spoke wheels. So i m not sure about that ur wobbling issue ll get resolved if change to alloys 😊

RE Interceptor 650 both are 18 in.
I see that you only changed rear. Did you also consider changing front to 19? It will change the rake angle a bit. Any thoughts on this?

At 2:18 the stock alloy has wheel balancing weight which is missing in your tyre. Is that okay?

Drawback??? Just last weekend, i topped a small hill in the road, to find a piece of a 4x4 board dead center in my lane. Having no time to dodge it, i centered it at 60ish MPH. The only reason I was able to ride my bike home, is because although the edge of the rim was dented and away from the tire, the air couldn't escape because of the tube.
Drawback is for both bro, the choice is urs 👍
