    Best thing about the interceptor is that it's a platform to build the bike you want. Personally I've turned mine into a mini tourer, some people go cafe racer, some people have made scramblers. The fact that half the RE 650 range parts fit onto them you can so whatever you want

      Agree with every word. That was the main reason why I bough interceptor and not triumph or any other bike. I like the process of making it mine. Interceptor is great platform, but also very affordable. R nine 9, for instance, is crazy expensive. I just learned today that in India they say that the main idea of Royal Enfield is ‘To each their own’ and I took the full advantage of it.
      Thanks for sharing, Danny!

    Hey, I love your bike, brilliant looking set up with all of your mods. I plan on picking up an Interceptor in the future and I was wondering, have you had any problems getting an MOT on your bike with the full tec exhaust fitted or have they passed it alright? Apologies if this seems like an odd question, I'm still very new to bikes.

    • @thesundayrides
      @thesundayrides  Před 12 dny +1

      Hey! Thanks! Best of luck with choosing the one for you. The market is on your side currently, with lots of good options at good price. I just passed an MOT with no minors/advisories. All good. You can check my latest video on the Interceptor to see what kind of bike I brought to the MOT station. My biggest concern was the european Bates light. But it was adjusted and passed MOT with no issues. If you have any questions - don't hesitate to get in touch. I am also new to the bikes and learn as I go (and as I make mistakes)

      @@thesundayrides thanks. I’ve had a Yamaha Seca II, Kawasaki Concours, Africa Twin, and several smaller dualsports. I looked seriously at the Triumph T100 and T120 but they are costly to purchase and to maintain. I don’t see any advantage to them over the Interceptor except for maybe a few fit and finish items which don’t justify the cost IMO. My INT650 does incredible in the mountains of Idaho and I easily keep up on group rides with 1800cc Indians and Harleys. I may get a longer range touring bike for cross USA travel later but I’ll still keep the Interceptor.

    • @thesundayrides
      @thesundayrides  Před 10 měsíci

      @@Argo-F-Ur-Sef Here in the UK you can get a decent INT650 for about £5k and a nice T100 for about £9. So that's almost double the price. The only reason for me to think about another bike is to add a few horsepowers. However, I also do recognize that most of the time you don't need them. I also wish INT had a larger tank. Just realized I am doing roughly 140mi between refills and not 180mi as I originally thought.
      Touring across the USA is a dream.. maybe one day. I hope combustion engines will be still allowed by then....

    Another great video! what do you think was eating the side bag? An update for you on the small R&R small paniers that I bought. I am glad I bought them I think they are good for every day and also say week long or a few day trips for a single rider. Maybe for 2 up you should consider the large set. Also R&R delivered by mistake 2 more paniers, I contacted them but I still have them a month and a half and they have not replied to collect them. Oh well I guess I have a spare pare now lol. Ride safe!!

    I disagree about the handlebars, purely on aesthetic reasons. I think the width and rake diminish the 'classic' look. I would use risers to achieve the same effect, perhaps with bar end mirrors and leather grips. However, I just say that the combination suede seat and panel have have completely won me over - and would look great with the orange scheme especially.

      Hi Mark! Thank you for watching and leaving a comment; it is much appreciated. That's what I like about Royal Enfields - there are so many accessories to modify the bike to your taste! While riding today, I decided I wanted to do another experiment and convert the Interceptor into a Continental GT. The orange scheme looks great; I was hesitating between it and the blue.

    • @LessAiredvanU
      @LessAiredvanU Před 10 měsíci

      @@thesundayrides How do you convert the Interceptor to the Conti... never mind, you will likely drop a video of it soon. One question, though, the exhaust and silencers install - did that include the header pipes as well, and if so, did you do it in stages and "run in" the fuel management or did you do it in one go? I think I will swap out the entire exhaust and silencers as the headers are one piece and will increase the weight saving - I understand that the faster expulsion of the gases in the larger bore header creates a bhp increase that is more significant than the air filter adaptation (and a far better exhaust note!)

    • @thesundayrides
      @thesundayrides  Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@LessAiredvanU My conversion plan includes swapping the handlebars with clipons, bar end mirrors and maybe the tail cowl.. yeah, as soon as I am ready I will drop a video on it
      On the exhaust. I swapped the silencers first. That immediately improved the sound! Quite good actually! You can stop there. As a second stage I swapped the air filter and added fuel management. That made the fuel mixture richer, cooled down the engine and, unexpectedly (for me) provided no performance gain, despite idling and all these things..
      And as the last stage I swapped the pipes. The major difference that it made the bike much much lighter. And that made a noticeable improvement on her dynamics.
      If I did it again, I would probably just do the silencers. To save some cash. But if to put money aside.. it is a wonderful upgrade! Good luck with it!
      The installation was straightforward except for one thing - slipping TEC slip ons on TEC pipes!! They just didn’t fit! With a lot of cursing and black magic I did it!
