All of that leads me to… WHY I’m selling my beloved Interceptor. I picked up the Himalayan at the beginning of 2023 and it meets my riding style so much better. I want to be able to ride more offroad and go further on trips. The Interceptor limits me in both of those areas. While I will definitely miss all the charm and unique character this bike brings, I find myself wanting to take the Himalayan on 90% of my rides. (I just wish that bike had a bit more power.) If I were only commuting or riding twisties, I’d keep the 650 every time.
The Interceptor will always be my first love when it comes to motorcycles. This bike delivers so much joy every time I take it out. It pains me to say goodbye to little blue. But it’s not right to watch this magnificent machine rot in the garage. So it’s time to set it free.

About 3 weeks ago , I bought the 2023 version of this exact bike, down to the same color. I'm 5'8", and 63 years old. It really comes down to what kind of riding you want to do, and how much of it you are planning to do. For me, I think this bike will be very hard to beat. For you, the bike you traded for sounds like a much better choice. Enjoy!

@gordonbaker410 I own 2023 bike as well, but this color is discontinued not available in 2023 model.this color and the baker express were my fav color. I got cali green serial number 9th, 9th 2023 bike to come out of factory. Immediately changed spokes to alloys and verdestine tyre (650GT) and the most important upgrade was the whole new touring seat for interceptor.

More or less. I wear a thin soled riding boot, and a thicker boot sole makes some difference. But my feet are very nearly flat anyway. With my wife on back, I can easily flat foot.

+1 for the INT being a joy in the twisties. I have a 2020 and live in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I'm 68 and have arthritis in my thoracic spine, so all day rides are a non starter. I put the touring seat on also, a 16 tooth front sprocket, bar end mirrors and louder horns and oversized grips. I was away from riding for 27 years and moving to the mountains reignited the spark. FWIW, the spoked rims and tubes don't frighten me. In my former riding history, I only had one flat in 16 years and 50k miles with that setup. Just put new Bridgestone BT46's on and the ride quality went up significantly with respect to handling.

I had one for a year. Great bike, no issues. Loved it.....then I sat on a Triumph Scrambler. The next day, I bought the Scrambler.
The Interceptor is a great bike. I'd strongly recommend one to anybody who wants a good all-around bike for backroads or commuting.
Mine was a step up towards the Triumph, but I have nothing but kind words for the Interceptor.

I've had an Interceptor for 9 months and about 2,400 miles. I'm still happy with it. It checks quite a few boxes for me: it looks great, sounds great, great gas mileage (about 55-60mpg) handles well, lots of aftermarket stuff. It'll cruise all day at 75mph no problem. Power and torque are plenty for most purposes. The six-speed gearbox is nice. The brakes work fine, the ergonomics are fine. It has a likeable personality.
But it's not a bike I'd want to ride to Alaska on. Or probably even 200 miles. The reason being that the suspension and seat are both stiff and kind of cobby. Around town it's fine but it wouldn't be fun riding it all day long. That and the right mirror vibrates... and it's hard to impossible to read the digital gas gauge in bright sunlight. Those are my only complaints.

I tried this bike recently and it has two things that my Rebel 500 is missing, a characterful engine with a great soundtrack and shiny bits. But I'm pretty sure I would miss the Honda if I were to replace it with anything else. I could get an Interceptor as a second bike but I'm pretty sure I would ride significantly more than the other. As you mentioned it, redundancy is not great when having multiple vehicles and limited funds and/or space.
Anyway, I completely get your point. It's one thing to love a motorcycle but letting it sit in its corner is just sad and counter productive. Unless you have it your living room of course.

I have the same touring seat you have and can ride over 100 miles without stopping. I still have a 2022 W800 too, and have had a V7 and a T100 (two ), the 650 INT is a great bike for the money. The W800 has a little more room and a better ride.

Likewise, I have a '22 model, same color but a different style "touring" seat and horizontal bottle type mufflers. I ride it nearly every day and have over 9,000 miles on it. You are right, it is no touring bike and even with the new seat, I can't ride more than an hour or so without having to stop and walk around a bit. I used to curse my small size, but now I pity my large friends who can't fit into airplane seats or normal size bikes and even cars too. For me, my bike is perhaps a bit too big, but I've developed strength in my toes, otherwise it fits me perfectly. You are right too in that it has plenty of power and I can be at a dangerously fast speed before I realize it. Regardless of price, there is no other bike I'd rather have for the kind of riding I do. What luck, the perfect bike and so incredibly cheap.
I'm just back earlier today from a 3,000 mile trip up to Graybull, WY to see the marvelous geology up there. For comfortable touring and covering long distances with long rides between points of interest, take a car and leave the bikes home.

it's actually air/oil cooled. Their is a comfort seat available & their are also some very good screens available for it. If you've got a Himalayan then I wouldn't be bothered to take the Interceptor off road as the Himalayan can handle most off road situations, even when the going get's a bit rough. Their will be numerous luggage options including the Hepco Becker C bow system from Motorcycle adventure products. Their soft luggage option is very good for most situations being either a day trip-weekend or week or two.

I appreciate the subjective nature of your comments.
    However,
1.) Negative comments about the suspension, tires and handling while presenting non-paved-road footage is quite silly
and makes the comments irrelevant to normal reasonable purchasers.
Buy/ride a bike meant for that. (OH! you already did!)
2.) If you cannot tell what size motorcycle fits you, Try a bicycle shop.
3.) We never had fuel gauges until recently becoming ubiquitous. We got along just fine. Open cap, check fuel level.
4.) Fill tank with fuel to an objectively identifiable point. Note mileage A. Drive motorcycle. Fill tank to same previous point.
Note mileage B. Look at fuel dispensed that you are paying for. That is how much you used. Subtract A from B and
that is how many miles you rode for that amount of fuel. Divide miles by fuel used in gallons and that is your miles per
    gallon (MPG).
5.) We never had tubeless tires. What did you think patch and tool kits were for? Did it occur to you that a nail
penetrating a TIRE may NOT penetrate the TUBE? Think belt and suspenders.
6.) We never had gear/shift indicators. If you need one, buy a car.
7.) Nothing in your video convinces me you truly mean what you say about your affection for the Interceptor.
You order chicken noodle soup and IMMEDIATELY want to remove the noodles.
There are disciplines necessary to be a practical motorcyclist.

Weird complaints? Who needs a gear indicator, apart from a newb on a 125, or Mr GSXR hammering round a race track. Fuel guage? I think every bike I;ve ever had only had a blinking amber light. After 2-3 fillup's, don't we all go by the mileage? If you know you get 200 mpg, you fil up from 180 miles or so.... Seat. Fair enough. I'm sure RE have something in the parts catalogue. And tube tyres? The market wants wire wheels on retro bikes That is your trade off. I'd prefer cast alloys and tubeless, for weight savings and easy patching, but if the market want it totally retro.....
Me, if I asked for one thing, I think they should offer the 200cc big bore kit and clutch, on a better breathing engine, from the factory. 42bhp at the wheel? This heavy old thing needs 60 bhp min. Also delete the heavy exhausts and centre stand for a bit more zip when getting by other traffic. You can save 6kg from each silencer alone.

33,600 miles on my 2019. This review is dead on right . I ride mountain roads above 5,000 ft every day and drag metal everywhere. Don't do knobby tires. This bike hates dirt roads. Hates dirt roads!!!

I had a Garmin Zumo XT mounted in various places. The Zumo is ok but definitely has it's quirks. I can accomplish most of the same things with my phone.

I was curiously determined to waste 13'15" till the end to see that you traded the Int. for a totally different class of motorcycle, at a much higher level, so no comparison with RE. The truth is the Int. is a low-quality underpowered cheap looking motorcycle. It's good for the Indian market but definitely inadequate for Europe and America. Enjoy your new Husqvarna!

Wth is Newton meters? Give it to us in ft/lbs like everybody else does, please. Also, experienced riders don't care about gear indicators. In modern times, unless you're adventure trekking, nobody's going to fix a tube tire flat on the side of the road. You're going to call your buddy with a trailer or use your roadside coverage for a rollback tow.
