Interceptor 650 Tubeless Rims Conversion For Only Rs 5,000: Way2Speed Kit Installation

- For those watching a video of mine for the first time, I have a custom Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 that runs on 17 inch custom aluminium rims that are wider than stock.
And I have been wanting to convert them to tubeless from a very long time.
The safest, tried and tested option that I wanted to go for was an Outex kit. Outex does make a kit for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, however, that kit was useless for me.
Since Outex kits are pre-cut according to the motorcycle's rim's width, and my rims are wider, I could not use the standard kit.
Outex also does not do custom kits.
So, if I were to still insist on Outex, I would have had to buy two separate kits from two different motorcycles to match my 3.5 inch front rim and 4.25 inch rear rims.
Now, an Outex kit in itself is Rs 13,500. And buying two kits to mix and match would have meant Rs 27,000 for just the kit and Rs 2,500 for installation.
That is steep. I am sure you would agree with that.
And so, I was stuck running tubes inside my custom rims.
Until, Melvin from Way2Speed decided to help me out.
Way2Speed has come up with their own way to convert the rims to tubeless and it essentially entails you applying a solution on the rims and letting it dry out, sealing the gaps between the spokes and the rims.
The video explains it better than my words here.
The kit costs Rs 5,000 for a regular Interceptor or Continental GT650 but since my rims are wider, Way2Speed sent me an extra bottle to cover the surface and I had to pay Rs 6,500 for the kit.
Still, nothing in comparison to the Rs 27,000 I would have had to pay for Outex.
I've been using this kit for over a month now and have even done a 190 kmph run with them. The tyres have not lose any pressure whatsoever.
So, the kit has been working brilliantly for me.
Melvin told me that he has installed this tubeless conversion kit in over 20 motorcycles and none have reported any failure so far.
The one drawback of using this kit that I can think of, it is applied by hand, manually.
And that means, it will never be spread as evenly as the Outex tape. Which means, the wheel will never be 100 per cent balanced. Even though we will probably never be able to tell the difference, which would be minimal, it is still something that I thought I should highlight.
The long term reliability of this kit is yet to be seen. Since it is such a critical component, I am only laying the facts in front on you.
I am neither asking you to buy it, nor am I asking you not to. I can tell you though that it is working for me.
The rest is your call.
Melvin from Way2Speed can be contacted here for the tubeless kit: / way2speed
and +91 88258 61835
Needless to say, this kit is not just restricted to the Interceptor 650 and can be used on any spoked rim.
I hope you found this video useful.
Thank you so much for giving me your time. I hope you have a great day.
Cheers - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I have been using this kit for more than a month and have not had any complaints so far. I have done 190 kmph too, along with riding the bike on some rough terrain too.

its a silicon gel i think
but bhai.. won't it create balancing issue in the wheels?
Its a silicone ...use the Dow Corning brand.. that will do the same work as this. And its the most powerful silicon in market. I made my interceptor tyre tubless with it and 1 tube costs 220rs only.
Very minor. May not even be noticeable. Read my description. I have explained it there.
Wow.
I find your videos absolutely crisp, to the point and no unnecessary stuff..keep up the good work buddy ❤️
i like how this guy just agrees to what the mechanic does and doesn't interrupt him.,
Well, the technician definitely knows a lot more than me. I'm just the guy who bought the kit.
Sir your videos are dope♥️.We need more videos in this quarantine time.so by seeing your videos we can pass all the time easily😊.stay safe
I have 2 more in the pipeline ✌

Much awaited video, thanks for sharing..
This is the only video I wanted to see on the intercepter, I am sure reticent to buy it because of the tube tyres, saw another guy get outex on his, but that's super expensive! Thanks this seems like a viable solution!
Wow....Abhinav Sir
If this thing works....thn thnx to u. All interceptor owners going to save a lot of money who are looking forward for expensive tubeless kit🙂✌
✌
Good work. The only problem with these conversions is once you need recalibration of the wheels i.e. tightening or loosening of the spokes then you got to go through the whole process again which is cumbersome. In the long run its better to go with puncture resistant liquid which can be refilled incase of tyre change or tube change and it's very cost effective and a tried and tested procedure. It costs only 1000 to 1200 for both the wheels
thats really helpful and well thought solution. thank u saurabh.
Can u plz explain a little more how in long run it is better

Thanks
Guys use st. Gobain weather sealant. The cost is 500 rs for one container.
Where to get it?
Yeah looks like silicon gel container and the texture procedure looks same btw which is available as cheap as ₹180

It is similar to silicon gel which is a waterproof sealent. Which spat only 200-300 same work as I saw in the video.
atleast there is one moto vlogger in delhi who knows about mechanical stuff in his bykes..keep it up bro baaki sab naale hai

Inder is required to stay Indoor! But once this lock down is lifted, I'm gonna get these from my Tamil brother! Definitely want that tubeless-ness in the motorcycle super cool stuff this is! Thanks once again AB!
Hahahha. You and your puns.
@@abhinavbhatt ain't it the regular silicone gel used in gluing glasses together...? I am not acting smart, just curious to know?
Great option brother
But you have done a good content on this much appreciated work so big like
Royal Enfield should offer alloy wheels as an accessory because tube tyres can leave you in a pretty dangerous situation.
Somehow Royal Enfield has heard you! Thr next update comes with tubeless tyres and alloys!
Tubeless tyres for sure, but with spoked wheels.

Very nice idea
Thats a new thing thanks for sharing
This may work for a low power bike like the RE, but rims for tubed and tubeless tires are different and doing this on a more powerful bike may just spin the tire on the rim. Tubeless rims will have "serrations" to grip the bead.
Good idea
Abhinav I think this is a silicon paste they use in houses to seal in tight spaces or anywhere to avoid any leakage of water. They are about 400-700rs per bottle
Hi Abhinav. Good one. I am inclined to do this on my Interceptor OEM rims. Guess it should work well (and remove puncture anxieties. Bombay roads are rubbish). Looking forward to your month later review. Cheers.
Hi Shashi. I've had this for over a month and I have no complaints at all. It holds air pressure just fine.
The sillicone and gun costs around 500-600 in hardware store. Just a rebranded generic off the shelf product.
Hi ! Abhinav, Thanks for the video its very intriguing. I have a request could give us a long term review of the same.
I'll try to make one soon.
Like the way you made a simple and uncluttered video. Had got outex done formy Triumph Speedmaster rims. However in the last 1year it had to go back to the servhce centre thrice!
One will know the efficacy only with about 3-5000 kms done on the odo.
Suggest speak to the Manufacturer to understand how is this different from basic silicon which some here commented on. The difference in chemical composition (if any) will help people decide better
Sure. Will do. Will also make a follow up video.
This basically looks like silicone filling, like the way2speed is branding the silicon with its own branding.
You are actually correct
Yh might be but we don't have other options. And i think something is also mmixed with that paste
Dear Abhinav, brilliant sensible mods. Every modification on this bike is an absolute gem and have an advantage over the stock.
The front shocks are great and effective in the overall bike's stability.
I loved the 17" modified rims at the rear and the front. In order, to fit the 4.25" x 17" rear rim, did you change the swingarm, spokes and the hub?
Also, what are the total number of spokes, in the rear and the front wheel? Thanks, Jorge Frois
What if we have to adjust the spokes for alignment of the rim ?
Bro this is a silicone tube which is available in the range of Rs150 to 500Rs depending on the hardness & use u can easily get it from any hardware shop get the automotive silicone that they use to stick windscreens , they have better heat resistant which will be needed to combat tyre heat generation of long drives.
Another point that i read on other comments they have rightly pointed out that if you rebalance the weel & tighten the spokes it will definitely loosen the silicon grip, even then it's cool u can do this every 10 k kms , this is a grt money saving idea if u buy silicone tube from the hardware store , under 500 + labour 😢
It most certainly looks like silicone glue that is used to stick glass to the window frame. That is much cheaper. Around 200 rs for this sort of bottle I guess. The application and tool too is similar.
I think you are right here, I had built an aquarium using silicone gel, looks exactly like that.
Great solution
Definately going to use this on my adv👍
What happens when you tighten the spokes? Does it break the seal?
This looks like a regular silicone sealant ! Good idea though ! But I'm not too sure about the longevity . I advise you to regularly check if the sealent is giving away
Sure thing.
Abhinav where did you get the rims from, are they excel rims? I'm looking for the stock excel rims in 17 to downsize my rim and upsize my tyre..
Waiting for longterm review,,,
Thanks for doing this in English.🙏🏽
Whats the biggest size rim one can fit on the Interceptor 650 without the tyres touching the swingarm and the front forks?
There is a bore kit for 650 twins as well. I know is can be a bit expensive but please give it a look. I believe its worth a look.
Good shot bro . Hope it would go well.🇮🇳
Working well so far.
Hi Abhinav, a set of questions I have on your rear wheel. Is it aluminium rim? what is the width of the rear rim? What they cost?
After using this paste and sealing the rims , what happens when we have a wheel alignment done and the spokes are loosened or tightened?
We need to be redoing that...when we adjust the spoke .it either expands or compress na... so the normal setted glues will be loosened
It's better, you do the wheel alignment first then apply this thing. I used Anabond (used for engine gasket sealing) for front wheel. But it will be better you get it done by professional.
Yes thats the point ...........👍🏼
At that tym it we have to remove it ......
How are you going to true your wheels?
hey it's silicon paste which is use join aquarium glass tanks &used in house roofing..which available at hardware/ powertool shops...which cost around 200-300 and higher..and the gun cost around 800 -900rupees
You just sound like John Abraham....Ditto....🤩
Sir jab spoks loose honge or spoks ko tite krne pr ye khrab ni hoga
Hi Abhinav it is a great way to make spoked wheel tubeless but my question is even if you apply seal/silicon gel to cover the nipples, won't it get distorted after a while due to heat and continuous pressure applied on spokes and ultimately to the nipples?
Just watching to listen ur voice
Disk break mast jain😁🤟

Well this is absolutely fabulous ..I had an very bad experience when my tire was puncherd I ride a Royal Enfield Himalayan ...well I have a doubt with this product what if there is a case where the spoke needs to to be replaced or the spoke needs to be straightened what can be done then?
But down the line when you need to adjust your spokes, won't this process have to be repeated again?
I do have crome interceptor 650, just love yoir handle bar n the tyres how much did it cost for the tyres n how's the performance with those on your bike ?
Abhinav sir I am a subscriber since first
No doubt your bikes looks awesome R15 and the most awesome RE 650
CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON ALL MODS THAT YOU HAVE DONE ON RE 650 in one video
With separate playlist on CZcams
Okay.
I'm also looking for this dear.
Your Interceptor looks damn good with those beautiful handlebars, customised rims and also the blacked out engine parts.
Hi Abhinav, may I ask what would happen in case of a couple of spokes becoming loose over time and requiring re-seating/adjustments? Would the process have to be done again entirely?
I think then that time you have to pull off the seal from that particular spoke and tighten it and then sealed it again
This paste looks like aquarium sticking silicone
I think so , some kind of construction silicone paste.
Cause it is!
This video is like a breath of fresh air for me... because Corona virus scared the shit out of me.
Stay safe abhinav. Only thing im sad about is r15 speed run would be delayed becoz of this stupid virus.... Dang it !! 😏
Yeah. No R15 videos for a month now.
Dayummmmm Son! Very cool! I should try this on one one of my bicycles .... hmmmm.
But ensure the cycle has tubeless tyres. The regular ones won't hold. I have tubeless rims and tube type tyres on my cycle. They never hold because of the tyres.
And how exactly do we adjust the fork tension after this process is done to a motorcycle?
3M marine grade tape and rideon solution is also a good option cheap too
If any of the spokes bend then we cannot adjust or replace if we use this application
Did they put liquid sealant when installing the tire?
This is general purpose silicone caulk....no need to pay 5k for it...available in any hardware...the down side is each time the spokes have to be adjusted after "wheel out" u may have to rw do the entire process....just like the other 27k kit....so riders it's u r call
However for silicone to make the spoke nipple hole air tight the following has to be followed strictly
1 remove all surface coats...paint powde coating etc...base metal to be visible
2 degreasing is a must
3 the surface should be highly polished and buffed because if u have to resilicone after rectifying wheelout it will be next to impossible to remove the old silicone
4 the silicone takes from a couple of hrs to semi harden...so either keep rotating the wheel slowly so that I he silicone doesn't flow to one side or lightly run teflon tape on the silicone to avoid flow....
Now u r done.
Last step is to install a valve on the rim....all the best
Personally I feel this is way to much of an headache....
How did u buffed ur engine into black? Is it permanent? Pros n cons pls
Hi Abhinav. Great mods on the Interceptor. Question - Why can't we fix the valve part before applying the paste..? Won't a circular cut post application affect the integrity of the paste..?
Valid point. I don't know the reasoning behind it though. This is what I was advised by Way2Speed.
Hey, Abhinav. Helpful video. What will be the process in case you need to adjust the spoke tension after a couple thousand kilometres? Will the sealant get in the way of that?
I don't know that yet. Sorry.
Nice voice brooo
When you added some weight in wheel after that we are facing nee issue dynamic balancing . After add weight should be check the balancing
Abhinav aren't there any good alloys available, in interceptor size?
Hi abhinav have been going through you vlogs, wanted to know are there any after market alloys available for the 650?
How is the stability and long term review please. Planning to do on my int650
Hi there and thx for the tip. I have a question: if the rims of the interceptor are fit for tubeless on what concerns its internal structure: the bead flange /seat / hump of a tube fitted rim is different from a tubeless rim so that my concern whether a tubeless tire will fit safely on a tube rim (as done with your Way2Speed Kit). A second question is: Does Kineo Wheels or Alpina Wheels manufacture spoked tubeless rims for the Interceptor 650 ? Understand that is quite expensive, any other manufacturer around ? perhaps in the USA ? Thanks and all the best.
I beleive int 650 comes with 18 inchers at either end. From where did you procure the 17" rims? I mean which bike comes with such wide 17" rims?
Ask dear Melvin what's the difference between Dow Corning weather proof silicone sealant (₹250) and his silicone sealant.
Keep it up... 🥰
Thanks
Some of my friends using this.. without any issue.. it's very good product..😊
Awesome.
Hey abhinav can you tell me which black paint have you used on your engine covers?
How do you replace the spokes if it broke?
Was this a success?
Sir, suppose one of spoke is broken or change needed.. Thn what should I do?? That liquid already sealed those spoke opening.. How will I change?? & what about the time of wheel alignment?
Make a video about the front suspension installation
Yes
Any long term usage update?
Hi Abhinav, what are the other options for 4.25 x 17 inch rims in India?
Anywhere available in Bengaluru?
Hey Abhinav, I will also talk to Melvin after words as I have told him to make SS316 performance exhaust for my interceptor.
I have just one dought what if we want to tight the spoke, if your spoke is lose???
It is possible to lose or tight spoke after this way2bay process.
So what do you do when you need to tighten the spokes

Hi Abhinav, I'm planning to get the same done for my Continental GT 650 but I'm very skeptical about High speed stability(in long run). How is the high speed stability after the conversion?(after 6 months)
Rohit I think you should go for Formula X. ride your bike for 15kms and maintain the speed of 35-40kmph why? for the fluid to get perfectly coated its a glycol based liquid
Where did u get that side panel?
Royal Enfield is Not offering tubeless Tires in stock motorcycles for thunderbird 350X also?
From which site, it can be purchased?
