- Here is a little recap of all the times we qualified since 2013. EBU has been very hard on us, by calling us as 9th or 10th on 5 out of 7 occasions! There is English subtitles.

If someone has the footage of 2004 where we qualified with dutch commentary, I would love to add it.
I hope so too that the footage of Willem van Beusekom and Cornald Maas reaction of Re-Union's qualification can be found soon!

I'm kinda starting to see a pattern: from 2012 to now, when the Netherlands didn't qualify, Sweden won (2012, 2015 and 2023). And we won in 2019 kinda AGAINST Sweden. So if we make it to the finals, it's guaranteed that Sweden doesn't win. "But hey... that's just a theory... a Eurovision theory".
and now… eurovision is in Sweden… maybe it is time to win)

Remarkable! The Dutch are always a solid country at Eurovision these days. Even in 2021, I thought Jeangu deserved way more than he got (although "Grow" was probably a better song). Just one thing: I believe the word is spelled "nerve-racking."
Yeah google didn’t give me the answer… i see racking and wracking both being used😅 But I will try to remember it to change it next year (if we qualify of course)

Including 2022, the year where my country successfully avoided ''The Curse of Last Year's Hosts'' and not only that, because of the fact that 2022 is also the year where S10 made history as the first ever Dutch-language song to qualify for the Grand Final, since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004.
I almost got a heart attack yesterday, all ballads qualified and was really sure they would announce Denmark or Albania, but thank god they didn't. Stien was echt heeeeeel goed gisteren, moest gewoon echt door.

Next year in 2024 they better have to call our country (The Netherlands) first, just like Belgium in 2022!

We (Iceland) know how you feel. From 2009-2014, we were announced last 4 times.
Yeah I can imagine... Belgium had the same with being annoucned last 3 times in a row... luckily this year i'm not really concerned about Joost not qualifying, but still if there is 1 spot left you always feel a bit nervous.

The Netherlands has developed some serious PTSD, since the introduction of the Semi-final system. But since that isn't enough they always are being announced last or next-to-last almost every year they make it through to the finals.
Since Anouk represented The Netherlands in 2013, they've given us so many great entries. My favourites have been S10 and, of course, The Common Linnets.
Yeah The Common Linnets was a weird adventure… They were 30th in the odds before the rehearsal and after the semi they were top 5 to win and then finishing second was amazing
@@woutergoku12 - I was personally gutted that they didn't win, as they showed that understated, skillfully performed and beautifully written songs could do well in the contest without having yo be gimmicky or speciously theatrical. It was a gorgeous performance, in my own personal view.
@@woutergoku12 i wasn't a eurofan back in 2014 (i was 7 ffs) but that entire year seemed crazy - both you guys and austria shooting up the odds and ending up coming top 2, armenia being favourites before "only" finishing 4th

Liked most Dutch entries. Common Linnets are one of my all time favourites, still listen to it. Loved Waylon, imo the best singer & performer that year and very low final ranking. Grow beautiful entry shame 2020 edition was cancelled. Was not such a fan of his 2021 entry but live performance was amazing and imo he deserved far more than zero points. S10, absolutely amazing, shame she ended 11th. Loved last years entry (except for ending) but as we all know live performance was bad. So this year we finally have something different from Netherlands (again liked most of previous entries but became tad predictable) so nice to see they dared to step outside their comfortzone and I love this years entry. First listen I found it a tad annoying but Im so into it now. One of my favourites 🎉🎉
FUN FACT 2: I loved the fact that in both 2014 and 2016 are the exactly the years where my country qualified along with a few other countries like Montenegro, San Marino and Czech Republic FINALLY breaking their 0% qualification records on the same night!
Fun fact that last 4 editions we either performed before or after the winner or were the winner ourselfs :P

In 2019 in de finale toen Zweden nog de punten moest krijgen… dat leek echt een halfuur te duren. Had vanaf dat moment echt spijt dat ik geen rekenmachine erbij had gehouden

I was kinda worried because we also finished last at Junior Eurovision... but as soon as I heard De Diepte, I was relieved :) She did a great job bringing Dutch language back to the final after 25 years and even got a 12-pointer :)

3 jaren waren niet hier, maar dat is logisch. Want trijntje haalde de finale niet in 2015. In 2020 was het songfestival afgelast vanwege corona en 2021 had jeangu de gastland ticket om automatisch in de finale te staan. Trouwens dat zou hij ook hebben gehad in 2020 dus corona of niet 2020 zou niet op het lijstje staan omdat we al in de finale staan zonder te strijden tegen andere landen in de halve finale.
Dan is het lastig een ‘qualifying’ moment toe te voegen, als het er niet is😜 Hopelijk volgend jaar💪

Ik denk dat wij Nederlanders heel slecht tegen spanning kunnen en dan gaan ze dus natuurlijk ons de hele tijd op het laatst doen
