- Food chain is a fun green enchantment. It has been a staple for the competitive Prossh deck for some time now. However there are some more commanders that can utilize food chain. In this video we look at some cEDH viable commanders that play food chain and talk about what makes them different from each other.

Pro tip about Demonic Consultation: You also have to exile the top 6 of your deck before it actually starts searching for the named card
So if you exile Food Chain [or whatever card is named] in your top 6 as the spell resolves, then it will exile your entire library

It will also do this if the named card is the BOTTOM card of your library. So you have to consider that about 8 or 9 percent of the time your library's toast. Pretty high price to pay.
I played Prossh for years‚ and while I think he's still the classic choice for a food chain list‚ the First Sliver really outclassed him for an all in list.
The first sliver is currently the only food chain option in my opinion. This video is quite old.
You don't automatically lose the game in Tazri Food Chain if you exile all your allies. So long as you still have access to Pull From Eternity, Riftsweeper, Labman or Walking Ballista you can still win the game.
Unless you exile those two! =P but you are right. Also the chance that you would exile all the allies is rather low. But it can happen and I wanted to point out that demonic consultation is indeed a risky tutor. Tainted pact to.
cEDH TV I like Tainted Pact more especially for non-blue decks. There's nothing worse than naming a card and exiling it in the initial top 6 and being forced to exile your whole deck. And the one thing I like about Prossh is the look on my opponent's face when I Gutteral Response / Pyroblast / Red Elemental Blast / Autumn's Veil / Vexing Shusher them on the turn that I'm going for the win lol

General Tazri is my favorite of the lot. I've been able to get turn 2 wins with it at tournaments with lucky draws.
There is no such thing as lucky draws. A well planned consistent deck, that goes up vs an opponent that don't produce a equal matching opening.
I love play ally tribal, now I work hard to make tazri food chain but I like use onmincient+ tutor combo preator's grasp, force oponent deck out
I feel the best and most reliable commander would be General Tazari as it has access to both black and blue while also being able to specifically tutor the ally needed to win the game on the spot. Maelstrom Wanderer has my favorite (not good, just favorite) ability in magic so I might end up trying to make the best list possible using him.

That being said, I feel like you could have had a little bit more structure to the video. But just a rating at the end, but also for every category
I also feel that going Maelstrom without blue is a mistake. You got 5 blue sources.
1 needs to get Renowned and 2 only work on creatures.
That gives you 2 blue sources (BoP and Rattleclaw) to cast 15 blue pips. That's really asking for trouble in my eyes.
An other option would be to be less reliant on blue. Which you can do by switching out Deceiver Exarch for Zealous Conscripts and Run Sylvan Caryatid.
When producing so much mana, stuff like Tooth and Nail can also be very good.
Skipping blue also gave you no access to Foresight and Manipulate fate. Which are two of the cards that play super well in Tazri, as they Tutor 3 cards and replace themselves. I even have these two for you, I just never got around to giving them to you (will bring this Thursday) ;)
I think I have a lot of blue sources, should be more then 5. I have 8 cards that gives me blue or will fixe it. And then 2 more that only works for creatures. I was looking for your list at tapped out net. You can give it a link here if you wish. Great you have the cards on thursday?

Cool ideas for food chain! Another comander I'm surprised is not in the video is Zacama. Once food chain with squee or eldrazi goes off, you can convert the infinite creature Mana into infinite Mana by summoning your general infinite times.
Yes. But. I don't know. 9 mana. Sure that is the same as maelstrom wanderer that is on 8. But white instead of blue. I guess I could have mentioned it. But I am skeptic about the deck in general. It could work I guess. I just haven't put my mind into how to make it work. But sure there should be some one out there that plays a good Zacama food chain deck.
@@cedhtv While you don't have as much resiliency without blue, you gain consistency in finding the combo pieces you need. Eldameri's call, recruiter of the guard find needed creatures for the combo, enlightened/idealic Tudor find food chain, plus you have a plethora of enchantment recursion in white. I play mine with both a Kiki jiki and birthing pod shell so you can go for whatever combo you come across first, or lock the game with a recurring Fall of Thran. But he is a big dino boi that won't see the field for the first part of the game :D
@@cedhtv also worth mentioning that temur saber tooth already works as a combo piece for infinite Mana with Zacama.... Provided you have like 14 Mana hahahaha

having 14 mana isn't really happening that often. But I will give that it will happen, sometimes. :)
Great video! I have Food Chain Tazri. I think you can't name Black Lotus with Demonic Consultation, 'cause it's not legal in EDH. You can simply name "Demonic Consultation"!😉
I say black lotus because I like the card. I don't think people mind. Other wise I would just say a card that is legal that I don't have.
You have to name a magic card, but not one that's format legal. Feel free to name "ordinary kitten", "camel," or "sorrow's path."

blood artist isn't the best drain creature, sine it says "target" Zulaport cutthroat says "each", meaning you kill all at once with him instead of blood artist.
Red and green have a lot of control against blue. Pyroblast, red elemental blast, autumns veil just to name some

@ALFREDO RIVERA-MOJER So when you have infinit creature mana from food chain. Cast the first sliver. cascad trigger into something.
then eat the first sliver with food chain. recast it and cascad againe. from here you can cascade your entier deck of 4 costy cards.
now you can win however you want.

That is correct, but it works with Prossh. He has a sac outlet.

I don't think you can name black lotus, as it's a banned card and you have to name a card that is legal in the format.
The part where we are naming a card is only to kill the deck. We could just name a card we have in our own hand. We ussally have a bit of fun here and name pokemon cards to from time to time.

emmm. No. You can only CAST creature spells with the mana from food chain. Guru is an activated ability.

I am happy you asked. Currently we have a few like scavenging ooze and gorilla shaman. And wizard have started to make some functional red hate bears like harsh mentor. But its not enough. Or it is something I guess. I think we are going to get more variants to scavenging ooze and harsh mentor. If you can do the following destroy; creatures, artifacts and cards in graveyards in instant speed, then you can play control with consistent efficiently.
@@cedhtv There is also burning tree shaman. That is usually not sufficient, but it is a nice addition to Harsh Mentor in some cases.

you can't use food chains mana to activate creatures abilities. Only to cast them. So food chain won't give you infinit combat steps. But I have been thinking if there is something different you can do.
